A novel PCR-based technology for rapid and non-sequencing authentication of Bombyx batryticatus using species-specific primers

A novel PCR technology was developed to detect short DNA fragments using species-specific primers for rapid and non-sequencing authentication of Bombyx batryticatus based on differences in the mitochondrial genome. Three specifically designed primer reactions were established to target species for the reliable identification of their commercial products. They were confirmed to have a high inter-species specificity and intra-species stability. The limit of detection was estimated as 1 ng of genomes for Beauveria bassiana and 100 pg for Bombyx mori and Metarhizium anisopliae. Furthermore, validation results demonstrated that raw materials and their processed products can be conveniently authenticated with good sensitivity and precision using this newly proposed approach. In particular, when counterfeits were assayed, these primer sets performed well, whereas COI barcoding technology did not. These could also assist in the discrimination and identification of adulterates of other animal-derived medicines in their pulverized and processed forms and even in complexes.     

Two Stable Heterometal‐MOFs as Highly Efficient and Recyclable Catalysts in the CO2 Coupling Reaction with Aziridines

Two stable heterometal‐organic frameworks, {Na[LnCo(DATP)₂(Ac)(H₂O)](NO₃)?DMA?11 H₂O}_n (Ln=Er( 1 ) and Yb( 2 )), have been prepared with H₂DATP (4′‐(3,5‐dicarboxyphenyl)‐2,2′:6′,2′′′‐terpyridine) as organic building block. These two isostructural compounds featuring two‐dimensional layer architectures possess outstanding thermal stabilities and excellent chemical stabilities in common organic solvents and different acid/base solutions with pH range changing from 1 to 13. Moreover, compounds 1 and 2 serving as heterogeneous catalysts can efficiently catalyse the CO₂ fixation reaction with various aziridines to result in corresponding oxazolidinones at 70 °C. Importantly, a good recyclable performance of 1 for at least 10 cycles is observed based on the experimental results, which are further confirmed by PXRD, TGA and ICP analyses.

Copper(I)-catalyzed synthesis of 3,3-disubstituted isoindolin-1-ones from enamides via cascade radical addition and cyclization

Copper(I) catalyzed radical benzylation and cyclization reaction of tertiary enamides was investigated and 3,3-disubstituted N-Alkyl isoindolin-1-ones were obtained in moderate to good yields. In this reaction, two new C–C bonds were formed in one step with high atom economy. Possible reaction pathway for the formation of the products was also discussed in this paper.

S-Wave Shape Resonances in the Ps− System

We have investigated the S-wave shape resonance states of the positronium negative ion (Ps^?) system. The resonance poles are traced from H^? system to Ps^? by systematically varying the mass of the positively charged particle from infinitely heavy to one unit of the electron mass. The shape resonances that associated with and lying above the Ps(N = 2, 3, 4 and 5) thresholds are located by employing the complex-coordinate rotation method with highly correlated Hylleraas-type wave functions. It has been shown that the Ps^?(N = 3) shape resonance lies at an energy which is higher than the Ps(N = 4) thresholds and even the Ps^?(N = 4) shape resonance. An explanation was given to shed light on such phenomena.     

A standing wave model for acoustic pumping effect in microchannels

An acoustic impedance pump is comprised of a compressible section coupled at both ends to sections of different acoustic impedances. Liquid can be pumped from one end to another if the compressible section is actuated at certain locations. This paper presents an analytical model on the acoustic pumping effect in microchannels. A one-dimensional wave equation is developed for acoustic pressures in the compressible section, taking into account the actuations as acoustic source terms. The solution for the acoustic pressure is a set of standing waves established inside the compressible section, corresponding to the actuations. The pumping effect is attributed to the second-order terms of the acoustic pressures. Two control parameters are identified. One is the resonance frequency associated with the sound wave speed and length of the compressible section, and the other is the damping factor. The analytical results are compared with the experimental data, and a qualitative agreement is observed in terms of frequency characteristics of the pumping pressure.
