Irradiation of p-methylbenzoylthioacetone with UV or visible light brings about spectral changes characteristic for the photochromic behavior of β-thioxoketones. The nature of the initial species and of the photochromic product can be assigned based on spectral studies of the electronic and IR spectra in rare gas matrices combined with quantum chemical calculations. Additional arguments for the vibrational assignments are provided by using polarized light to induce the phototransformation, and by subsequent measurements of linear dichroism on partially aligned samples. Comparison with the results previously obtained for three related molecules: thioacetylacetone, p-methyl(thiobenzoyl)acetone, and monothiodibenzoylmethane reveals a common pattern of the photochromic reaction. In all four molecules, the initial species corresponds to an intramolecularly hydrogen-bonded enolic molecular structure, and the main photochromic product to an “open”, nonchelated enethiolic counterpart. On the basis of a computational TD-DFT study of ground and excited electronic states, possible mechanisms of the photochromic transformation are discussed.  相似文献

This numerical study investigates the effects of fatigue material data and finite element types on accuracy of residual life assessments under HCF conditions. The bending of cross-beam connections is simulated in ANSYS Workbench for three different combinations of beam profiles. The weldments are made of the high-strength steel grades C350LO and C450LO according to AS3678. The stress analysis of weldments is implemented with solid and shell elements using linear material and geometry consideration. The stress distributions are transferred to the embedded fatigue code nCode DesignLife. For both variants of FE-mesh, the nominal stress in the weld toes is extracted by splitting the total stress into membrane and bending components and filtering out non-linear component. Considering the effects of bending, size and mean stress, failure locations and fatigue life are predicted using the Volvo method and rules from ASME BPV Code. Three different pairs of experimental S-N curves (stiff and flexible) are used as material data input for fatigue analysis. The obtained numerical predictions are compared to the experimental results for shell FE-models. The predictions using the S-N curves for an equivalent steel demonstrate the best accuracy proving the fact that specific material data input is more effective than a generic data. A combined experimental and theoretical study of the two‐photon absorption (2PA) properties of a series of quadrupolar molecules possessing a highly electron‐rich heterocyclic core, pyrrolo[3,2‐b]pyrrole, is presented. In agreement with quantum‐chemical calculations, large 2PA cross‐section values, σ2PA≈102–103 GM (1 GM=1050 cm4 s photon?1), are observed at wavelengths of 650–700 nm, which correspond to the two‐photon allowed but one‐photon forbidden transitions. The calculations also predict that increased planarity of this molecule through removal of two N‐substituents leads to further increase in the σ2PA values. Surprisingly, the most quadrupolar pyrrolo[3,2‐b]pyrrole derivative, containing two 4‐nitrophenyl substituents at positions 2 and 5, demonstrates a very strong solvatofluorochromic effect, with a fluorescence quantum yield as high as 0.96 in cyclohexane, whereas the fluorescence vanishes in DMSO.  相似文献

Two strongly polarized dipolar chromophores possessing a cyclic tertiary amino group at one terminus of the molecule and a CN group at the opposite terminus were designed and synthesized. Their rigid skeleton contains the rarely studied pyrrolo[2,3‐b]quinoxaline ring system. The photophysical properties of these regioisomeric dyes were different owing to differing π conjugation between the CN group and the electron‐donor moiety. These dipolar molecules showed very intense emission, strong solvatofluorochromism, and sufficient two‐photon brightness for bioimaging. One of these regioisomeric dyes, namely, 11‐carbonitrile‐2,3,4,5,6,7‐hexahydro‐1H‐3a,8,13,13b‐tetraazabenzo[b]cyclohepta[1,2,3‐jk]fluorene, was successfully utilized in two‐photon imaging of mouse organ tissues and showed distinct tissue morphology with high resolution.  相似文献

Nitroaromatics seldom fluoresce. The importance of electron-deficient (n-type) conjugates, however, has inspired a number of strategies for suppressing the emission-quenching effects of the strongly electron-withdrawing nitro group. Here, we demonstrate how such strategies yield fluorescent nitroaryl derivatives of dipyrrolonaphthyridinedione (DPND). Nitro groups near the DPND core quench its fluorescence. Conversely, nitro groups placed farther from the core allow some of the highest fluorescence quantum yields ever recorded for nitroaromatics. This strategy of preventing the known processes that compete with photoemission, however, leads to the emergence of unprecedented alternative mechanisms for fluorescence quenching, involving transitions to dark nπ* singlet states and aborted photochemistry. Forming nπ* triplet states from ππ* singlets is a classical pathway for fluorescence quenching. In nitro-DPNDs, however, these ππ* and nπ* excited states are both singlets, and they are common for nitroaryl conjugates. Understanding the excited-state dynamics of such nitroaromatics is crucial for designing strongly fluorescent electron-deficient conjugates.

Microstructure-dielectric properties relationship and molecular mobility of organic/inorganic polymer composites (OIPCs), consisting of polyurethane (PU) and sodium silicate (NaSi), were investigated in this work. Broadband dielectric relaxation spectroscopy (DRS) and thermally stimulated depolarization current (TSDC) techniques were employed. Our interest was focused on the study of the glass transition mechanism and conductivity relaxation. The influence of the molecular weight of PU and inorganic phase content on the dielectric properties of the composites was of particular interest. Glass transition temperature shifts to higher temperatures with the addition of NaSi. The overall molecular mobility was found to increase in the composites, compared to the pure PU matrix. The results are more intense for the composites based on the PU with low molecular weight.  相似文献

Many materials exhibit the stress range dependent creep behavior. The power law creep observed for a certain stress range changes to the viscous type creep as the stress value decreases. Recently published experimental data for advanced heat resistant steels indicate that the high creep exponent (in the range 7–12) may decrease to the low value of approximately unity within the stress range relevant for engineering structures. The aim of this paper is to analyze the influence of the stress range dependent power-law-viscous creep transition on the behavior of structures at elevated temperature. A constitutive model for the minimum creep rate is introduced to describe both the linear and the power law creep depending upon the stress level. To demonstrate basic features of the stress range dependent creep modeling, several elementary examples from structural mechanics are presented. They include a stress relaxation problem, a beam subjected to pure bending and a pressurized thick-walled cylinder. Based on the uni-axial transition stress the transition value of the external load is estimated such that above this value the power law can be applied. For the loading levels below this value the character of the stress distribution as well as the stress values are essentially influenced by the viscous creep.  相似文献

A comprehensive conformational analysis of isolated 2'-beta-deoxy-6-azacytidine (d6AC), an analogue of therapeutically active 6-azacytidine (6AC), has been performed by means of ab initio calculations at the MP2/6-311++G(2df,pd)//DFT B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) level of theory. Among the 81 conformers located within a 7.83 kcal/mol Gibbs energy range at T = 298.15 K, 38 contain syn-oriented bases with respect to 2'-deoxyribose; the other conformers include anti-oriented bases. Energetic analysis of these conformers shows that conformational equilibrium of isolated d6AC at T = 298.15 K is shifted to syn conformation with a syn/anti ratio estimated as 61.4%:38.6%. As far as the sugar conformation is concerned, 40 conformers contain north (N) (with 0.3 degrees < or = P < or = 40.1 degrees), and the rest possess south (S) (with 157.1 degrees < or = P < or = 207.0 degrees) puckers, where P is the pseudorotational angle of the furanose ring. The S/N occupancy ratio is estimated as 80.2%:19.8% (T = 298.15 K). The two most stable conformers are energetically quasidegenerate and correspond to both C2'-endo/syn conformers differing only by orientation of the O3'H hydroxyl group. They are both stabilized by means of similar intramolecular H-bonds, i.e., O5'H...O2, C2'H2...O2, and C2'H2...O5'. As examined by AIM criteria, from 1 to 3 H-bonds per conformer were identified among 13 possible interactions: O5'H...O2, O5'H...N6, O3'H...O5', O5'H...O3', C1'H...O2, C2'H2...O2, C2'H2...O5', C3'H...O2, C3'H...N6, C5'H1...O2, C5'H2...O2, C5'H1...N6, and C5'H2...N6. The biological effect of d6AC is conceived as an inhibition of replicative DNA polymerase caused by an unusual orientation of the sugar residue against the base in the only A form DNA-like conformer.  相似文献

Spectral-luminescent properties of the newly synthesized 2-(3-coumarinyl)-5-(2′-(R-amino)-phenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazoles has been investigated in solvents of various polarity and hydrogen-bonding ability. It has been found that for all the studied compounds no excited state intramolecular proton transfer occurs despite the presence of coumarinyl fragment - electron acceptor effect of the coumarinyl fragment is not sufficient to increase the excited state acidity of the amino group. It has been found that the absorption spectra of the studied compounds shift to higher energy with increase in solvent polarity, whereas corresponding fluorescence spectra shift to lower energy with solvent polarity increase. It has been suggested that long-wavelength shifts of the fluorescence spectra of the studied compounds with increase in solvent polarity is caused by the solvent relaxation. The observed solvent relaxation effect allow us to propose some of the studied compounds as potential probes to monitor changes in solvent relaxation in low-polar media and as potential probes for rigidochromic effect.  相似文献

Structure-properties relationships of composite materials, consisting of a polymer matrix and metal inclusions, is very important for designing new materials with desirable properties. In the present work the electrical and dielectric properties of several composites, consisting of a polymer matrix and iron (Fe) particles as filler, were investigated. Broadband dielectric relaxation spectroscopy measurements were carried out. The electrical behaviour of the composites is described in terms of the percolation theory. Percolation threshold values were calculated and the values of the dielectric permittivity critical exponent were found in good agreement with the theoretical ones. The influence of using different polymer matrices on the physical properties of the composites was also of particular interest. The results were related to the microstructure of the composites and a schematic model was proposed.  相似文献
