One-step method for preparing the experimental pure state in nuclear magnetic resonance

Quantum computing is an emerging and promising research field in modern quantum physics and is committed to accelerating traditional calculation processes using the principle of quantum mechanics[1,2].Several computation models have been proposed,including the circuit model[3],topologic quantum computation[4],adiabatic quantum computing[5],and duality quantum computing[6-8].Universal quantum computation generally includes a system initialization,evolutionary control,and a final-state readout[9],where the preparation of the initial state is a key step in the entire process.     

Orientation dependence of the electrocaloric effect of ferroelectric bilayer thin films

An analytical thermodynamic theory is applied to investigate the electrocaloric effect of ferroelectric BaTiO₃/SrTiO₃ bilayer thin films with different orientations at room temperature. Theoretical analysis indicates that the strong electrostatic coupling between the layers results in the suppression of ferroelectricity at a critical relative thickness which occurs approximately at 50%, 23%, and 12% of SrTiO₃ fraction in the (001), (110), and (111) bilayer thin films, respectively. The ferroelectric bilayer thin films are respected to have the largest electrocaloric effect at this critical relative thickness. Moreover, the electrocaloric effect strongly depends on the orientation and the (110) oriented bilayer thin films have the largest electrocaloric effect. Consequently, control of the orientation and the relative thickness of SrTiO₃ layer can be used to adjust the electrocaloric effect of ferroelectric bilayer thin films, which may provide the potential for practical application in refrigeration devices.

SOME COMPARISONS BETWEEN GENERALIZED ORDER STATISTICS

Some stochastic comparisons of generalized order statistics under the right spread order,the location independent riskier order and the total time transform order are investigated in this paper.The underlying distributions and parameters on which generalized order statistics are based are also surveyed to obtain the conditions for increasing the expectations of spacings between the first two generalized order statistics and between the last two generalized order statistics.     

Simultaneous wavelength tuning and amplitude modulation in QPM optical parametric amplifiers

We repot simultaneous optical parametric amplifiers (OPA) and amplitude modulation of signal pulse in a monolithic periodically poled KTP (PPKTP) by electrically controlling the relative phase between the pump, signal and idler waves in a KTP dispersion section sandwiched between two PPKTP gratings, theoretically. The controlling electric field can be arbitrary direction. For an ultrashort pulse group velocity mismatch, group dispersion and diffraction must be regarded, simultaneously. The solutions of the truncated equations, including the above effects in the two PPKTP gratings of simultaneous frequency tuning and amplitude modulation OPA, were analyzed. It is shown that the intensity of output signal pulse of OPA depends on the thickness of the dispersion section, the magnitude and azimuth of controlling electric field and one evidences periodicity. For the certain angular dispersion there exist the largest frequency bandwidths of optical parametric amplifiers. Certain angular dispersion of a signal pulse can increase the frequency bandwidth, and broadband amplification of ultrashort pulse can be performed effectively.     

Perfect transmission of spin waves in a one-dimensional magnonic quasicrystal

Existence of the perfect transmission resonances of spin waves in a one-dimensional Thue–Morse magnonic quasicrystal is proposed. We find that occurrence of the perfect transmission just corresponds to the repeated bandedges in the bandedge map. Frequencies at the perfect transmissions for system with arbitrary generation order can be predicted by the bandedge map of the second and third order systems using two iterative schemes. These results show that density of the perfect transmission resonance increases exponentially for increasing the order of the system. However, the perfect transmissions are kept for higher order systems even if the peaks become denser.     

ANALYTIC SOLUTIONS OF AN ITERATIVE EQUATION WITH FIRST ORDER DERIVATIVE

This paper is concerned with a nonlinear iterative equation with first order derivative. By construction a convergent power series solution, analytic solutions for the original equation are obtained.     

Some sufficient conditions for tunnel numbers of connected sum of two knots not to go down

In this paper, we show the following result: Let K _i be a knot in a closed orientable 3-manifold M _i such that (M _i ,K _i ) is not homeomorphic to (S ₂ ×S ₁, x ₀ ×S ₁), i = 1, 2. Suppose that the Euler Characteristic of any meridional essential surface in each knot complement E(K _i ) is less than the difference of one and twice of the tunnel number of K _i . Then the tunnel number of their connected sum will not go down. If in addition that the distance of any minimal Heegaard splitting of each knot complement is strictly more than 2, then the tunnel number of their connected sum is super additive.
