The aim of this paper is to extend our knowledge about the gas-dynamic processes in arcs during immobility time. For this purpose, the conservation equations in a magnetohydrodynamic approximation were coupled with the thermochemical and Maxwell equations. Special features arc the introduction of dissociation and ionization of nitrogen and oxygen, and the simultaneous calculation of the distributions of current density and magnetic induction in the arc. Numerical calculations were performed with a reduced two-dimensional (2-D) time-dependent model. Results of the calculations were compared with measurements. The development in time of the measured and calculated are voltage and arc chamber pressure show very good agreement. The pumping effect of the double vortex in the arc region was confirmed by optical measurements. It is concluded that the three-layer model is a good representation for the main physical features during the immobility time, and that the presence of highly conducting gas in the downstream region of the arc is essential for its downstream movement 相似文献

In this article we have studied the nonlinear interaction between ellipticity and dissipation in a set of model equations (1.1) and established the relation between this interaction and chaos. In addition to theoretical investigations, extensive numerical simulations with these equations have been made, and different routes to chaos have been found. The origin of the widely observed enhancement of rates for electron-ion recombination at very low energies is still unknown.
We investigated the recombination of Au25+ with free electrons in a merged-beams experiment at the UNILAC accelerator of the GSI in Darmstadt. At E
rel= 0 eV we found an enormous enhancement factor of 365 compared to the theory of radiative recombination. An increase of the
electron density by a factor of 10 had not much influence on the measured rate coefficient.

We present a variational treatment for the E × e pseudo Jahn-Teller system. Through canonical transformation the electron and phonon states are decoupled. An analytical form is obtained for the ground state energy by scaling transformation. Including both the dynamical displacement of phonon modes and the softening of phonon frequency, this approach yields fairly accurate results for the ground state energy. The energy splitting and Ham's reduction factor are calculated, which also generates fairly good results compared with other perturbation results. We argue that our variational wave function is valid for the weak and intermediate coupling range. 相似文献

High resolution finite difference schemes for solving the nonlinear model Boltzmann equations are presented for the computations of rarefied gas flows. The discrete ordinate method is first applied to remove the velocity space dependency of the distribution function which renders the model Boltzmann equation in phase space to a set of hyperbolic conservation laws with source terms in physical space. Then a high order essentially nonoscillatory method due to Harten et al. (J. Comput. Phys. 71, 231, 1987) is adapted and extended to solve them. Explicit methods using operator splitting and implicit methods using the lower-upper factorization are described to treat multidimensional problems. The methods are tested for both steady and unsteady rarefied gas flows to illustrate its potential use. The computed results using model Boltzmann equations are found to compare well both with those using the direct simulation Monte Carlo results in the transitional regime flows and those with the continuum Navier-Stokes calculations in near continuum regime flows. 相似文献

We report on the optical properties of alkali atoms (Cs and Rb) in the pressurized superfluid helium. We observed excitation and emission spectra at various pressures from the saturated vapor pressure to about 25 atm. The theoretical calculations on the basis of the atomic bubble model have also been worked out. The qualitative agreement between the theoretical and experimental results with respect to the peak shift, the linewidth, and their pressure dependence is achieved in the framework of the spherical atomic bubble model. A kinetic investigation on the monoesterification reaction of the maleic anhydride residue (MA) in styrene-maleic anhydride copolymers with aliphatic alcohols was carried out in ethyl benzene solution. By comparison to classic catalysts such as tributylamine (TBA) and pyridine, 4-dimethylaminopyridine (4DMAP) is by far the most effective catalyst for this reaction. While both general base and nucleophilic mechanisms contribute to the reaction catalyzed by TBA or pyridine, a nucleophilic mechanism prevails with 4DMAP. This reaction is reversible, and its chemical equilibrium constant decreases significantly with increasing temperature. Both kinetic and thermodynamic results showed that in the presence of 4DMAP, the forward and reverse reactions are second and first order, respectively. The existence of side reactions, reactivity of two styrene-maleic anhydride copolymers of different MA contents as well as two aliphatic alcohols of different lengths are also addressed. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 相似文献
