UPLC-ELSD Determination of 1-Octacosanol in Raw Material and Health Products

Determination of the levels of 1-octacosanol is important in food stuff for the study of its pharmacological activities and health benefits. In this study, a novel, simple and fast internal standard method for the non-derivatization ultra-performance liquid chromatographic determination of 1-octacosanol in raw materials and health products was developed and validated based on evaporative light scattering detection. The linearity (r ² > 0.998), recovery (99.1–100.2%, RSD <2.7%), intra- and inter-day precision (RSD <3.8%), limit of detection (1.0 mg/L), limit of quantification (2.2 mg/L) of the 1-octacosanol were determined. The method was successfully applied to nine real 1-octacosanol products. The results of analyses had close agreement with the labeled claims of 1-octacosanol content in these products. Compared with the classical gas chromatography method, the developed method was simpler, faster and more environmentally friendly due to avoiding any derivatization step. This protocol represents a rapid and feasible method for quality control of 1-octacosanol products.

     

Photochromism of a novel asymmetrical diarylethene with a (formyloxyethoxy)ethyl‐linked naphthalimide moiety

A novel asymmetrical diarylethene with a (formyloxyethoxy)ethyl‐linked naphthalimide unit was synthesized, and its photochromic and fluorescence properties were systematically investigated in both solution and a poly(metyl methacrylate) film. The diarylethene showed significant photochromism and notable fluorescence switching properties upon irradiation with ultraviolet/visible light. Compared with the parent diarylethene, introduction of the naphthalimide moiety was effective to increase the molar absorption coefficient, the fluorescence quantum yield, and fluorescent modulation efficiency of the diarylethene. Strong Fermat Rules for Constrained Set-Valued Optimization Problems on Banach Spaces

In this paper, we propose two kinds of optimality concepts, called the sharp minima and the weak sharp minima, for a constrained set-valued optimization problem. Subsequently, we extend the Fermat rules for the local minima of the constrained set-valued optimization problem to the sharp minima and the weak sharp minima in Banach spaces or Asplund spaces, by means of the Mordukhovich generalized differentiation and the normal cone. As applications, we investigate the generalized inequality systems with constraints, and get some characterizations of error bounds for the constrained generalized inequality systems in convex and nonconvex cases.     

Comparison between photoluminescence spectroscopy and photoreflectance spectroscopy in CuGaSe2 epilayer

Photoluminescence （PL） spectroscopy and photoreflectance （PR） spectroscopy are very useful techniques for studying the properties of materials. In this paper, the same material of Cu-rich metal-organic vapour phase epitaxy （MOVPE） grown CuGaSe2 layer is investigated in a temperature range from 20 to 300 K to compare these two techniques. Both PL and PR spectra appear red shifted, less intense and broadened. The temperature dependence of interband transitions is studied by using the Manoogian Leclerc equation. The values of the band gap energy at T=0K and the effective phonon temperature are estimated. The temperature dependences of intensities and broadenings of PL and PR spectral lines are also analysed. Based on the results of the comparison, the features and applications of the PL and PR can be shown in detail.     

The dynamics of triple-well trapped Bose-Einstein condensates with atoms feeding and loss effects

In this paper, we consider the macroscopic quantum tunnelling and self-trapping phenomena of Bose-Einstein condensates （BECs） with three-body recombination losses and atoms feeding from thermal cloud in triple-well potential. Using the three-mode approximation, three coupled Gross-Pitaevskii equations （GPEs）, which describe the dynamics of the system, are obtained. The corresponding numerical results reveal some interesting characteristics of BECs for different scattering lengths. The self-trapping and quantum tunnelling both are found in zero-phase and ：r-phase modes. Furthermore, we observe the quantum beating phenomenon and the resonance character during the self-trapping and quantum tunnelling. It is also shown that the initial phase has a significant effect on the dynamics of the system.     

Growth of β-Ga2O3 nanorods by ammoniating Ga2O3/V thin films on Si substrate

This paper reports that/3-Ga2O3 nanorods have been synthesized by ammoniating Ga2O3 films on a V middle layer deposited on Si（111） substrates. The synthesized nanorods were confirmed as monoclinic Ga2O3 by x-ray diffraction,Fourier transform infrared spectra. Scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy reveal that the grown β-Ga2O3 nanorods have a smooth and clean surface with diameters ranging from 100 nm to 200 nm and lengths typically up to 2μm. High resolution TEM and selected-area electron diffraction shows that the nanorods are pure monoclinic Ga2O3 single crystal. The photoluminescence spectrum indicates that the Ga2O3 nanorods have a good emission property. The growth mechanism is discussed briefly.     

Polarization beam splitter based on dielectric periodic structure with different EFCs for two polarizations

A dielectric multi-layered structure is studied in this letter. It is found that at some frequency ranges, the equal-frequency contours (EFCs) are almost flat for one polarization but still curve for the other. Based on this property, we propose a novel polarization beam splitter.     

Marcinkiewicz integral on hardy spaces

In this paper we prove that the Marcinkiewicz integral is an operator of type (H ¹,L ¹) and of type (H ^1,,L ^1,).
