We report a simple fabricating approach to control the mode couplings in long-period fiber gratings (LPFGs) through side exposing fiber to long-pulse-10.6-μm laser from a cheap, internally modulated CO2 tube. By tuning focused-spot size on fibers, not only circularly symmetric mode coupling but also asymmetric mode couplings can be effectively achieved. Simulation of mode profiles in grating cross-section with Finite Element Method (FEM), and LPFG-cladding etching experiment with hydrofluoric acid (HF), support our explanation that asymmetric mode coupling in LPFGs depends on local refractive-index (RI) change within an azimuthally thin cladding layer, resulted from large-spot method induced deep melt flow on fiber surface during CO2 laser irradiation. 相似文献

The main factor of laser-induced damage is the modulation to electromagnetic field of laser by the crack on the subsurface. In this paper, a three-dimensional crack model on the exit surface is presented. Three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is employed to simulate the electric field intensity distribution in the vicinity of crack on fused silica subsurface. The roles of the crack width, depth, length and the gradient angle in the modulation to the incident light field are analyzed in detail. Results show that the crack size plays an important role in the electric modulation. With the increasing depth and width, the peak value of maximal electric field intensity appears in fused silica. However, the maximal electric field intensity tends to be a constant when the crack length reaches 1 μm. Besides, the enhancement of light intensity becomes obvious when total internal reflection occurs in fused silica. Our calculated results provide an advisable theoretical criterion to the corresponding experiment. 相似文献

Well-dispersed hydroxyapatite (HA) nanorods with different morphologies were synthesized by a hydrothermal method in oleic acid, ethanol and water reaction system, and the surfactant assisted modifications effect was also comparatively studied. The structure and morphology of samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), respectively. The effect of reaction systems and surfactant additives on the morphology evolution of HA nanorods were discussed in detail. The results showed that the controlled experimental conditions in the systems, such as the content ratio of oleic acid/ethanol, pH value and the content ratio of Ca/P source had an significant effect on the morphology evolution of as-prepared HA nanorods. Further, the selected surfactant additives, such as cetyltriethylammnonium bromide (CTAB), sodium dodecyl sulfate (K12) also play an important role in the formation of the uniform morphology of HA nanorods. Nitrogen-doped multiwalled carbon nanotubes (N-MWCNTs) have been prepared by pyrolysis of pyridine and iron phthalocyanine over an iron catalyst at 850 °C at various ammonia gas (NH3) flow rates. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results reveal that the pyridine-like nitrogen (N) content can be controlled by changing the flow rate of NH3, and that pyridine-like N plays an important role: it can increase the electrocatalytic activity and the rate of nitric oxide (NO) electrooxidation and decrease the activation energy of NO electrooxidation. Cyclic voltammetry results demonstrate that the N-MWCNTs sample grown with 200 mL/min NH3 flow has the maximum N content of 3.22 atomic %, and its content of pyridine-like N that is chemically active is also the highest among all the N-MWCNTs samples. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy results indicate that two-step electron transfer process occurs at the N-MWCNT-modified electrode, and the control step is different in various potential regions. The stability of NO electrooxidation at the N-MWCNT-modified electrode is examined, and the reaction mechanism is discussed. 相似文献

Ti-doped hydrogenated diamond-like carbon (DLC) films were deposited on Si(1 0 0) substrates by a filtered cathodic vacuum arc (FCVA) method using Ar and CH4 as the feedstock. The composition and microstructure of the films were investigated by Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and IR spectroscopy. The internal stress was determined by the radius of curvature technique. The influence of the bias voltage on the microstructure of the as-deposited films was investigated. It was found that the graphite-like bonds was dominated in the Ti-doped DLC film deposited at 0 V bias voltage. When bias voltage was increased to −150 V, more diamond-like bond were produced and the sp3 content in film reached the maximum value, after which it decreased and more graphite-like bonds feature produced with further increase of the negative bias voltage. The compressive internal in the Ti-doped DLC films also exhibited a maximum value at −150 V bias voltage. IR results indicated that CH bonded intensity reduced, and H atoms bonded with C atoms were substituted for the Ti atoms as the negative bias voltage increasing. All the composition and microstructure change can be explained by considering the plasma conditions and the effect of negative bias voltage applied to the substrate. 相似文献

Flat Supercontinuum Generation at 1550 nm in a Dispersion-Flattened Microstructure Fibre Using Picosecond Pulse 下载免费PDF全文
The generation of a flat supercontinuum of over 80nm in the 1550nm region by injecting 1.6ps 10 GHz repetition rate optical pulses into an 80-m-long dispersion-flattened microstructure fibre is demonstrated. The fibre has small normal dispersion with a variation smaller than 1.5 (ps·nm^-1·km^-1) between 1500 and 1650nm. The generated supercontinuum ranging from 1513 to 1591 nm has the flatness of ±1.5 dB and it is not so flat in the range of several nanometres around the pump wavelength 1552nm. Numerical simulation is also used to study the effect of optical loss, fibre parameters and pumping conditions on supercontinuum generation in the dispersion-flattened microstructure fibre, and can be used for further optimization to generate flat broad spectra. 相似文献
