An Efficient and High‐Yield One‐Pot Synthesis of Bis(oxazoline)s

An efficient and mild one‐pot synthesis of bis(oxazoline) (BOX) ligands is developed from reactions of dicarboxy dichlorides with β‐amino alcohols in the presence of 11.0 equiv. NEt₃ followed by the addition of 3.6 equiv. methanesulfonyl chloride (MsCl). Nine different BOX ligands were prepared in excellent yields of ≥ 80%. Advantages of this improved synthesis are mild reaction conditions, short total reaction time of 9 h, and high isolated yields.     

Synthesis, Characterization and the Effect of Glucose-lowering of Guanidino Acid Oxovanadium（Ⅳ） Complexes

Two guanidino acid oxovanadium(Ⅳ) complexes have been synthesized. Preliminary tests in vivo have shown that the two title complexes all display lowering glucose activity in vivo to STZ-rats. The effect of glucose-lowering of guanidino acetic acid oxovanadium(Ⅳ) complex in vivo is higher than that of guanidino propanoic acid oxovanadium(Ⅳ) complex.     

Synthese und Struktur von [(Ph3PAu)3NPPh3][PF6]2, einem Gold(I)‐phosphoraniminato‐Komplex

Synthesis and Crystal Structure of [(Ph₃PAu)₃NPPh₃][PF₆]₂, a Gold(I) Phosphoraneiminato Complex The photolytic reaction of Ph₃PAuN₃ with Cr(CO)₆ in THF yields the phosphoraneiminato complex [(Ph₃PAu)₃NPPh₃]²⁺ in low yield as well as the cluster cation [(Ph₃PAu)₈]²⁺ as the main product. The phosphoraneiminato complex crystallizes from CH₂Cl₂ with [PF₆]^? ions as [(Ph₃PAu)₃NPPh₃][PF₆]₂·CH₂Cl₂ in the triclinic space group with a = 1200.8(1), b = 1495.6(2), 2053.5(5), α = 86.97(2)°, β = 82.79(1)°, γ = 81.87(2)°, and Z = 2. The phosphoraneiminato ligand bridges through its N atom three Au atoms, which itself are connected to each other by weak aurophilic interactions.     

Asymmetric synthesis of [7]helicene-like molecules

[reaction: see text] A new approach to nonracemic [7]helicene-like molecules has been developed. Stereoselective Co(I)-mediated [2 + 2 + 2] cycloisomerization of aromatic triynes containing an asymmetric carbon atom produces [7]helicene-like scaffolds in diastereomeric ratios up to 100:0. This central-to-helical chirality transfer can be controlled by the absolute configuration at the asymmetric center and by the presence of carbon substituents.

Selective extraction of astaxanthin from crustaceans by use of supercritical carbon dioxide

An on-line supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) system coupled to a continuous flow manifold including a UV detector was used as a screening system to extract astaxanthin from crayfish, which was found to be the major carotenoid present in the samples. This compound constitutes the principal additive used to dye salmon flesh. The flow manifold was used to confirm the presence of astaxanthin in the crustacean samples. Also, an HPLC/UV-vis method was used to ascertain that this compound was the major carotenoid extracted under the optimum SFE conditions employed. The influence of SFE operating variables such as pressure, temperature, equilibration time, extraction time, trap temperature, and volume of CO₂ modifier was examined in order to maximize the efficiency of analyte extraction. The use of supercritical CO₂ enables the expeditious, selective, quantitative extraction of astaxanthin from crustaceans.

Novel Cyanine Dyes: Synthesis,Characterization and Photosensitization‐Structure Correlation

Novel furo, thieno and pyrrolo[2,3‐b]pyrazole cyanine dyes were synthesized. The structure‐photosensitization properties correlation of the dyes were examined in 95% ethanol solution by absorption spectroscopy. The chemical structure of the starting biheterocyclic compounds and their derived cyanine dyes were confirmed by elemental analysis, IR and ¹H NMR spectroscopy.     

Bis­(ethyl­enedi­amine)copper(II) bis(O,O′‐diethyl di­thio­phosphate)

In the structure of the title compound, [Cu^II­(en)₂][(EtO)₂P(S)S]₂ (en is ethyl­ene­di­amine) or [Cu(C₂H₈N₂)₂](C₄H₁₀O₂PS₂)₂, the Cu atom lies on a center of inversion and is coordinated in a slightly distorted square coordination geometry by four N atoms from two ethyl­enedi­amine mol­ecules. The diethyl di­thio­phosphate moieties, (EtO)₂P(S)S^?, act as counter‐anions.
