Background  

Analysis of fatty acid composition of biological materials is a common task in lipid research. Conventionally, preparation of samples for fatty acid analysis by gas chromatography involves two separate procedures: lipid extraction and methylation. This conventional method is complicated, tedious and time consuming. Development of a rapid and simple method for lipid analysis is warranted.  相似文献

A high-throughput experimental methodology was developed for photocatalysis reaction. In this work, a CCD imaging analysis system and photocatalytic reactor for UV light was designed and tested. By making use of the technologies, we have screened several catalyst libraries. From the SiO2-supported single component catalyst library, we found that TiO2, ZrO2, Nb2O5, and WO3 were good candidates for highly active catalyst formulation. We designed and screened several triangle catalyst libraries and found that the WO3- and Nb2O5-codoped TiO2 catalyst showed much higher photodegradation activities for the degradation of 1,6-hexamethylenediamine than did the pure TiO2 catalyst. The doping of ZrO2 into TiO2 did not generate apparent positive effects on catalytic activity.  相似文献

In a two-dimensional soap film convection experiment, the velocity fields are found to be strongly intermittent in the buoyancy subrange, which was reported to be nonintermittent in a recent numerical simulation. The structure functions Sq(l)(= ) exhibit self-similar structures and can be described by power laws l(zetaq) for integers 8 > or = q < or = 1. By extending Kolmogorov's refined similarity hypothesis to our system, an analytical form is derived for the scaling exponent zeta(q) = q/2 + (mu/18)(3q - q2). Our measurements yield mu = 0.42, which is significantly greater than 0.2 found in high Reynolds number turbulence in wind tunnels.  相似文献

The body-centered-cubic (bcc) phase of Ni, which does not exist in nature, has been achieved as a thin film on GaAs(001) at 170 K via molecular beam epitaxy. The bcc Ni is ferromagnetic with a Curie temperature of 456 K and possesses a magnetic moment of 0.52+/-0.08 micro(B)/atom. The cubic magnetocrystalline anisotropy of bcc Ni is determined to be +4.0x10(5) ergs x cm(-3), as opposed to -5.7x10(4) ergs x cm(-3) for the naturally occurring face-centered-cubic (fcc) Ni. This sharp contrast in the magnetic anisotropy is attributed to the different electronic band structures between bcc Ni and fcc Ni, which are determined using angle-resolved photoemission with synchrotron radiation.  相似文献

We investigate the transport of correlated fermions through a junction of three one-dimensional quantum wires pierced by a magnetic flux. We determine the flow of the conductance as a function of a low-energy cutoff in the entire parameter space. For attractive interactions and generic flux the fixed point with maximal asymmetry of the conductance is the stable one, as conjectured recently. For repulsive interactions and arbitrary flux we find a line of stable fixed points with vanishing conductance as well as stable fixed points with symmetric conductance (4/9)(e(2)/h).  相似文献

We have studied the temperature dependent phonon emission rate P(T) of a strongly interacting (r(s) > or =22) dilute 2D GaAs hole system using a standard carrier heating technique. In the still poorly understood metallic state, we observe that P(T) changes from P(T) approximately T5 to P(T) approximately T7 above 100 mK, indicating a crossover from screened piezoelectric (PZ) coupling to screened deformation potential (DP) coupling for hole-phonon scattering. Quantitative comparison with theory shows that the long range PZ coupling between holes and phonons has the expected magnitude; however, in the metallic state, the short range DP coupling between holes and phonons is almost 20 times stronger than expected from theory. The density dependence of P(T) shows that it is easier to cool low-density 2D holes in GaAs than higher density 2D hole systems.  相似文献

We present a general design strategy for a broadband thin-film beam splitter with matched group-delay dispersion. By taking the substrate dispersion into account in the coating design, any combination of input and output can show the same dispersion for transmission and reflection. As a specific implementation, an ultrabroadband 50:50 beam splitter from 600 to 1500 nm for femtosecond laser applications was designed, fabricated, and characterized.  相似文献

We report a detailed study of the pairing resonance via tunneling density of states in ultrathin superconducting Al films in supercritical magnetic fields. Particular emphasis is placed on the effects of the perpendicular component of the magnetic field on the resonance energy and magnitude. Though the resonance is broadened and attenuated by H(perpendicular) as expected, its energy is shifted upward linearly with H(perpendicular). Extension of the original theory of the resonance to include strong perpendicular fields shows that at sufficiently large H(perpendicular) the overlap of the broadened resonance tail with the underlying degenerate Fermi sea alters the spectral distribution of the resonance via the exclusion principle. This leads to the shift of the resonance feature to higher energy.  相似文献

We present a numerical method capable of reproducing the densification process from the so-called random loose to dense packing of uniform spheres under vertical vibration. The effects of vibration amplitude and frequency are quantified, and the random close packing is shown to be achieved only if both parameters are properly controlled. Two densification mechanisms are identified: pushing filling by which the contact between spheres is maintained and jumping filling by which the contact between particles is periodically broken. In general, pushing filling occurs when the vibration intensity is low and jumping filling becomes dominant when the vibration intensity is high.  相似文献

We present a simple method to measure the radiative and nonradiative recombination rates of individual fluorescent emitters at room temperature. By placing a single molecule successively close and far from a dielectric interface and simultaneously measuring its photoluminescence decay and its orientation, both the radiative and nonradiative recombination rates can be determined. For CdSe nanocrystals, our results demonstrate that the fluorescence quantum efficiency, determined at the single-molecule level, is 98% in average, far above the value expected from conventional ensemble experiments. The bidimensional nature of the transition dipole is also directly evidenced from a single-particle measurement.  相似文献
