A new fluorescent zinc sensor (HNBO-DPA) consisting of 2-(2'-hydroxy-3'-naphthyl)benzoxazole (HNBO) chromophore and a di(2-picolyl)amine (DPA) metal chelator has been prepared and examined for zinc bioimaging. The probe exhibits zinc-induced fluorescence turn-on without any spectral shifts. Its crystal structure reveals that HNBO-DPA binds a zinc ion in a pentacoordinative fashion through the DPA and HNBO moieties. Steady-state photophysical studies establish zinc-induced deprotonation of the HNBO group. Nanosecond and femtosecond laser flash photolysis and electrochemical measurements provide evidence for zinc-induced modulation of photoinduced electron transfer (PeT) from DPA to HNBO. Thus, the zinc-responsive fluorescence turn-on is attributed to suppression of PeT exerted by deprotonation of HNBO and occupation of the electron pair of DPA, a conclusion that is further supported by density functional theory and time-dependent density functional theory (DFT/TD-DFT) calculations. Under physiological conditions (pH 7.0), the probe displays a 44-fold fluorescence turn-on in response to zinc ions with a K(d) value of 12 pM. The fluorescent response of the probe to zinc ions is conserved over a broad pH range with its excellent selectivity for zinc ions among biologically relevant metal ions. In particular, its sensing ability is not altered by divalent transition metal ions such as Fe(II), Cu(II), Cd(II), and Hg(II). Cell experiments using HNBO-DPA show its suitability for monitoring intracellular zinc ions. We have also demonstrated applicability of the probe to visualize intact zinc ions released from cells that undergo apoptosis. More interestingly, zinc-rich pools in zebrafish embryos are traced with HNBO-DPA during early developmental stages. The results obtained from the in vitro and in vivo imaging studies demonstrate the practical usefulness of the probe to detect zinc ions. 相似文献

Thin film wide band gap p-type hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si) oxide (p-a-SiOx:H) materials were prepared at 175 °C substrate temperature in a radio frequency plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (RF-PECVD) and applied to the window layer of a-Si solar cell. We used nitrous oxide (N2O), hydrogen (H2), silane (SiH4), and diborane (B2H6) as source gases. Optical band gap of the 1% diborane doped films is in the range of 1.71 eV to 2.0 eV for films with increased oxygen content. Dark conductivity of these films is in the range of 8.7 × 10− 5 S/cm to 5.1 × 10− 7 S/cm. The fall in conductivity, that is nearly two orders of magnitude, for about 0.3 eV increase in the optical gap can be understood with the help of Arrhenius relation of conductivity and activation energy, and may not be significantly dependant on defects associated to oxygen incorporation. Defect density, estimated from spectroscopic ellipsometry data, is found to decrease for samples with higher oxygen content and wider optical gap. Few of these p-type samples were used to fabricate p-i-n type solar cells. Measured photo voltaic parameters of one of the cells are as follows, open circuit voltage (Voc) = 800 mV, short circuit current density (Jsc) = 16.3 mA/cm2, fill-factor (FF) = 72%, and photovoltaic conversion efficiency (η) = 9.4%, which may be due to improved band gap matching between p-a-SiOx:H and intrinsic layer. Jsc, FF and Voc of the cell can further be improved at optimized cell structure and with intrinsic layer having a lower number of defects. 相似文献

In this paper, we present a simple check valve whose operation mimics that of venous valves. Our check valve has a mono-leaflet and is constructed via an in situ fabrication method inside the PDMS platform. For the smooth operation of the valve's leaflet, the elasticity and the shape of the leaflet and the lubrication between the leaflet and the channel surface are important. We used 4-hydroxybutyl acrylate (4-HBA) as an elastic and photopolymerizable leaflet material. We mixed the triton X-100 with the 4-HBA pre-polymer solution for the adequate lubrication of the leaflet. We constructed the micro-pumping system by combining two venous-like check valves with an oscillating polymeric diaphragm driven by pneumatic force, and measured the flow rate according to the change of pumping frequency. Two cyclic diarylheptanoids, garugamblin-3 (1) and acerogenin L (2), isolated from the MeOH extract of the fruits of Alnus japonica Steud., inhibited human low-density lipoprotein (LDL) oxidation in the thiobarbituric acid-reactive substance assay with IC(50) values of 2.9 and 1.7 microM, respectively, and they also inhibited cell-mediated LDL oxidation more than 5 times more strongly than that of a well-known antioxidant, probucol, at a concentration of 10 microM. In this paper, we study a predator–prey system with an Ivlev-type functional response and impulsive control strategies containing a biological control (periodic impulsive immigration of the predator) and a chemical control (periodic pesticide spraying) with the same period, but not simultaneously. We find conditions for the local stability of the prey-free periodic solution by applying the Floquet theory of an impulsive differential equation and small amplitude perturbation techniques to the system. In addition, it is shown that the system is permanent under some conditions by using comparison results of impulsive differential inequalities. Moreover, we add a forcing term into the prey population’s intrinsic growth rate and find the conditions for the stability and for the permanence of this system. 相似文献

We measured the temperature-dependent absorptance of metals (Al, Ti, SS304) for continuous beams from 1.07 μm fiber laser and 10.6 μm CO2 laser using power sensors and infrared (IR) pyrometers. The absorptance measurements were repeated for metals with three different paint coatings. For measurements at elevated temperatures up to the melting point, integrating sphere is not practical since high temperature radiation from a heated target disturbs weak output from the sphere considerably. Our results provide how each metal, whether coated or uncoated, absorbs the infrared beams as temperature is elevated to a melting point. A polynomial approximation to the measured absorptance of each target is provided for modeling of the laser-metal interaction at elevated temperatures. 相似文献
