Error linear complexity measures for multisequences

Complexity measures for sequences over finite fields, such as the linear complexity and the k-error linear complexity, play an important role in cryptology. Recent developments in stream ciphers point towards an interest in word-based stream ciphers, which require the study of the complexity of multisequences. We introduce various options for error linear complexity measures for multisequences. For finite multisequences as well as for periodic multisequences with prime period, we present formulas for the number of multisequences with given error linear complexity for several cases, and we present lower bounds for the expected error linear complexity.     

Strangeness in the nucleon and the ratio of proton-to-neutron neutrino-induced quasi—elastic yield

The electroweak form factors of the nucleon as obtained within a three flavor pseudoscalar vector meson soliton model are employed to predict the ratio of the proton and neutron yields from ¹²C, which are induced by quasi—elastic neutrino reactions. These predictions are found to vary only moderately in the parameter space allowed by the model. The antineutrino flux of the up—coming experiment determining this ratio was previously overestimated. The corresponding correction is shown to have only a small effect on the predicted ratio. However, it is found that the experimental result for the ratio crucially depends on an accurate measurement of the energy of the knocked out nucleon.     

PNO-CI and PNO-CEPA studies of electron correlation effects

Dipole moments and static dipole polarizabilities are calculated for neon and the molecules HF, H₂O, NH₃, CH₄ and CO from SCF and correlated wavefunctions.

The construction of appropriate gaussian-type basis sets is discussed and the convergence of the correlation contributions to the polarizability is analysed. The effect of vibrational averaging is also investigated. The polarizabilities as obtained from the coupled electron pair approximation (CEPA) with the most extended basis sets differ from experimental values by less than 1·5 per cent in all cases. The calculated polarizability anisotropies appear to be correct to about 5–15 per cent. The correlation contributions to the polarizabilities are found to vary from 3 to 12 per cent.
