The structural and electronic transport properties of La1−x Ce x MnO3 (x=0.0–1.0) have been studied. All the samples exhibit orthorhombic crystal symmetry and the unit cell volume decreases with Ce doping. They also make a metal-insulator transition (MIT) and transition temperature increases with increase in Ce concentration up to 50% doping. The system La0.5Ce0.5MnO3 also exhibits MIT instead of charge-ordered state as observed in the hole doped systems of the same composition.  相似文献

We describe the solution growth of a series of discrete sized generations of Au nanoparticles by the heterogeneous deposition of atoms onto monodisperse seed nanocrystals. The growth process was studied using size-exclusion chromatography (SEC) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The size dispersion of each generation was determined from the SEC elution line widths and the spectral homogeneity of the elution peaks. The heterogeneous deposition of various amounts of Ag on Au nanocrystals and Au on Ag nanocrystals using the same synthetic protocol is also described. The effect of such deposition on the optical absorbance of each generation of larger clusters was measured during SEC using an on-line photodiode array absorbance detector.  相似文献

The use of solid-phase extraction for the analysis of liquid media containing low microg/L levels of hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine (RDX), mononitroso-RDX (MNX), dinitroso-RDX (DNX), and trinitroso-RDX (TNX) is examined. Aqueous samples (100 mL) consisting of water and a microbiological basal medium are spiked with known concentrations of RDX, MNX, DNX, and TNX. The compounds are extracted from the liquid media using a Porapak RDX cartridge and then eluted from the cartridge with 5 mL of acetonitrile. The eluent is concentrated to 1 mL before analysis by high-pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC). The method detection limits for RDX are 0.1 microg/L in water and 0.5 microg/L in the basal medium after a 100-fold concentration. For MNX, DNX, and TNX, the method detection limits are approximately 0.5 microg/L in water and approximately 1 microg/L in the basal medium after a 100-fold concentration. Interferences in the basal medium and a contaminant in the standard made quantitation for MNX and TNX, respectively, is less accurate below the 1 microg/L level. Solid-phase extraction of the liquid media gave good recoveries of nitramines and nitroso intermediates from a microbiological basal medium, allowing HPLC detection of RDX and the nitroso intermediates in the low microg/L (ppb) range.  相似文献

We apply a variety of characterization tools, including dynamic light scattering (DLS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution size-exclusion chromatography (HRSEC), and X-ray fluorescence (XRF), to study CdSe and CdSe/ZnS semiconductor nanocrystals of various sizes. We compare the size monodispersity, composition, and optical properties such as absorbance, photoluminescence (PL), and photoluminescence excitation of samples synthesized by high-temperature organometallic decomposition methods to CdSe clusters synthesized in our laboratory using a room-temperature metathesis from ionic precursors in coordinating solvents. DLS revealed considerable aggregation in all the conventionally synthesized samples, while TEM showed significant size and shape polydispersity in the core/shell CdSe/ZnS nanoparticles. We demonstrate how HRSEC can be used to explore size and shape polydispersity in semiconductor nanocrystals by measurement of the spectral homogeneity of the PL and PLE of spectra obtained within cluster elution peaks observed by HRSEC. Using HRSEC, we show that size fractionation by solvent/nonsolvent precipitation is only partially effective in size selection and that discrete size populations are present in each fraction. HRSEC shows that our synthesis yields a single-size, blue-emitting, homogeneous population whose absorbance and PL correspond to those of the smallest-size fraction made by conventional synthesis. This suggests that especially stable discrete sizes are favored in both synthetic methods.  相似文献

Time-lapse studies of a film of passivated gold nanoparticles under electron beam irradiation have been performed using a transmission electron microscope, revealing the microscopic dynamics of the sintering process at the single nanoparticle level. It is found that the sintering of individual passivated gold nanoparticles under electron irradiation is local and mainly depends on the sensitivity of the passivating ligands to the electron beam. A multilayer film is less stable than monolayer film, consistent with the enhanced generation of secondary electrons. The observations also reveal a significant difference between the sintering of passivated nanoparticles and bare metal particles, especially regarding the size effect on the sintering rate. The formation of a neck between adjacent nanoparticles further indicates a mechanism driven by surface diffusion rather than Ostwald ripening at the initial sintering stage.  相似文献
