We derive the Kramers equation, namely, the Fokker-Planck equation for an oscillator, from a completely deterministic picture. The oscillator is coupled to a “booster”, i.e., a deterministic system in a fully chaotic state, wherein diffusion is derived from the sensitive dependence of chaos on initial conditions and friction is a consequence of the linear response of the booster to the action exerted on it by the oscillator. To deal with the Hamiltonian nature of the system of interest and of its coupling to the booster, we extend the earlier theoretical derivation of macroscopic transport coefficients from deterministic dynamics. We show that the frequency of the oscillator can be tuned to the microscopic frequencies of the booster without affecting the canonical nature of the “macroscopic” statistics. Fractional-order calculus is about the differentiation and integration of non-integer orders. Fractional calculus (FC) is based on fractional-order thinking (FOT) and has been shown to help us to understand complex systems better, improve the processing of complex signals, enhance the control of complex systems, increase the performance of optimization, and even extend the enabling of the potential for creativity. In this article, the authors discuss the fractional dynamics, FOT and rich fractional stochastic models. First, the use of fractional dynamics in big data analytics for quantifying big data variability stemming from the generation of complex systems is justified. Second, we show why fractional dynamics is needed in machine learning and optimal randomness when asking: “is there a more optimal way to optimize?”. Third, an optimal randomness case study for a stochastic configuration network (SCN) machine-learning method with heavy-tailed distributions is discussed. An ultrasonic velocity borehole logger has been developed for use in small diameter boreholes drilled in rock for probing ahead of tunnels. The paper gives details of its design and construction and examples of its use in logging boreholes drilled in a laboratory trial and in an underground stone quarry. Two special features of the logging tool are that the transducers are mechanically pressed against the rock in the borehole wall and therefore no liquid is needed in the borehole to provide a coupling for the signal, and that the whole tool has been made compact enough to fit into a 56 mm diameter borehole. The instrument measures the compressional wave velocity of the rock, which may be interpreted to provide a qualitative indication of rock properties. In addition a method of deriving the rock strength from the velocity is suggested and demonstrated for the two test boreholes. Under physiologic conditions, the AV junction is traditionally regarded as a passive conduit for the conduction of impulses from the atria to the ventricles. An alternative view, namely that subsidiary pacemakers play an active role in normal electrophysiologic dynamics during sinus rhythm, has been suggested based on nonlinear models of cardiac oscillators. A central problem has been the development of a simple but explicit mathematical model for coupled nonlinear oscillators relevant both to stable and perturbed cardiac dynamics. We use equations describing an analog electrical circuit with an external d.c. voltage source (V0) and two nonlinear oscillators with intrinsic frequencies in the ratio of 3:2, comparable to the SA node and AV junction rates. The oscillators are coupled by means of a resistor. 1:1 (SA:AV) phase-locking of the oscillators occurs over a critical range of V0. Externally driving the SA oscillator at increasing rates results in 3:2 AV Wenckebach periodicity and a 2:1 AV block. These findings appear with no assumptions about conduction time or refractoriness. This dynamical model is consistent with the new interpretation that normal sinus rhythm may represent 1:1 coupling of two or more active nonlinear oscillators and also accounts for the appearance of an AV block with critical changes in a single parameter such as the pacing rate. 相似文献

Single-layer longitudinal and Hall resistances have been measured in a bilayer two-dimensional electron system at νT=1 with equal but oppositely directed currents flowing in the two layers. At small effective layer separation and low temperature, the bilayer system enters an interlayer coherent state expected to exhibit superfluid properties. We detect this nascent superfluidity through the vanishing of both resistances as the temperature is reduced. This corresponds to the counterflow conductivity rising rapidly as the temperature falls, reaching by . Resonant inelastic light scattering experiments access the low lying excitations of electron liquids in the fractional quantum Hall regime in the range 2/5≥ν≥1/3. Modes associated with changes in the charge and spin degrees of freedom are measured. Spectra of spin reversed excitations at filling factor ν?1/3 and at ν?2/5 identify a structure of lowest spin-split Landau levels of composite fermions (CFs) that is similar to that of electrons. Observations of spin wave excitations enable determinations of energies required to reverse spin. The spin reversal energies obtained from the spectra illustrate the significant residual interactions of composite fermions. At ν=1/3 energies of spin reversal modes are larger but relatively close to spin conserving excitations that are linked to activated transport. Predictions of composite fermion theory are in good quantitative agreement with experimental results. 相似文献
