A high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method for the detection and quantitation of acetaldehyde, glyceraldehyde, pyruvic acid, 2-ketoglutaric acid, and formaldehyde in wine, based on the formation of the 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazones, is presented. These carbonyl compounds often result from the chemical oxidation of major wine components, and are known to affect flavor and color stability. Their analysis in wine is complicated due to their instability and their tendency to react reversibly with bisulfite to form α-hydroxysulfonates. Published methods that break down the sulfonates for the quantitation of total carbonyls in wine involve alkaline hydrolysis of sulfite-bound carbonyls, but we show, for the first time, that this alkaline treatment step significantly increases the concentration of carbonyls during analysis. A solution based on oxygen exclusion is described. The technique offers good specificity, reproducibility (%RSD 0.45-10.6), and limits of detection (1.29-7.53 μg L−1). The method was successfully used to monitor concentration changes of these compounds in both white and red wines.  相似文献

The response of a reduction gas detector (RGD) to C2-C6 alkenes, C2-C6 alkanes, isoprene and benzene has been investigated using gas chromatography (GC) with a packed column. The RGD is considerably more sensitive to alkenes than is the flame ionization detector. The detection limit of this present GC/RGD system for alkenes is about 0.01 ng. It has much greater sensitivity to alkenes than to alkanes. Its sensitivity increases with increasing HgO bed temperature, but its selectivity towards alkenes decreases at the same time. The selectivity of the RGD may not be significant for much heavier molecules. The sensitivity of the RGD is inversely proportional to the carrier gas flow rate through the HgO bed. The baseline of the system increases significantly with increasing oven temperature.  相似文献

Three-dimensional photonic crystals made of close-packed polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) spheres or air spheres in silica, titania and ceria matrices have been fabricated and characterized using SEM, XRD, Raman spectroscopy and UV–Vis transmittance measurements. The PMMA colloidal crystals (opals) were grown by self-assembly from aqueous suspensions of monodisperse PMMA spheres with diameters between 280 and 415 nm. SEM confirmed the PMMA spheres crystallized uniformly in a face-centred cubic (fcc) array, and UV–Vis measurements show that the colloidal crystals possess pseudo photonic band gaps in the visible and near-IR regions. Inverse opals were prepared by depositing silica (SiO2), titania (TiO2) or ceria (CeO2) in the voids of the PMMA colloidal crystals using sol-gel procedures, then calcining the resulting structure at 550 °C to remove the polymer template. The resulting macroporous materials showed fcc ordering of air spheres separated by thin frameworks of amorphous silica, nanocrystalline titania or nanocrystalline ceria particles, respectively. Optical measurements confirmed the photonic nature of the inverse opal arrays. UV–Vis data collected for the opals and inverse opals obeyed a modified Bragg’s law expression that considers both diffraction and refraction of light by the photonic crystal architectures. The versatility of the colloidal crystal template approach for the fabrication of macroporous oxide structures is demonstrated.  相似文献

This study describes the facile synthesis of platinum nanoparticle-containing porous carbons (Pt/C) by carbonization of freeze-dried agarose gels containing potassium tetrachloroplatinate under a nitrogen atmosphere at 800 °C. By adjusting the ratio between agarose and platinate in the freeze-dried gels, the Pt content in the final Pt/C products could be systematically varied from 0–10 wt.%. Transmission electron microscopy, inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and nitrogen physisorption measurements revealed that the Pt/C materials obtained by this method possess high surface areas (350–500 m2 g?1), narrow Pt nanoparticle size distributions (6 ± 3 nm) and nanocrystalline graphite –like carbon character. By immobilization of glucose oxidase on the surface of a 4 wt.% Pt/C electrocatalyst prepared by this route, a very sensitive amperometric glucose biosensor was obtained (response time <2 min, sensitivity 1.9 mA M?1; and a linear response with glucose concentration up to 10 mM). The simplicity and versatility of the described synthetic method suggests its application to the preparation of carbon supported noble metal catalysts including palladium/C and gold/C. Figure
