In 2010, the BAX System PCR assay for Salmonella was modified to include a hot start functionality designed to keep the reaction enzyme inactive until PCR begins. To validate the assay's Official Methods of Analysis status to include this procedure modification, an evaluation was conducted on four food types that were simultaneously analyzed with the BAX System and either the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Bacteriological Analytical Manual or the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Food Safety and Inspection Service Microbiology Laboratory Guidebook reference method for detecting Salmonella. Identical performance between the BAX System method and the reference methods was observed. Additionally, lysates were analyzed using both the BAX System Classic and BAX System Q7 instruments with identical results using both platforms for all samples tested. Of the 100 samples analyzed, 34 samples were positive for both the BAX System and reference methods, and 66 samples were negative by both the BAX System and reference methods, demonstrating 100% correlation. No instrument platform variation was observed. Additional inclusivity and exclusivity testing using the modified test kit demonstrated the test kit to be 100% accurate in evaluation of test panels of 352 Salmonella strains and 46 non-Salmonella strains. 相似文献

Large-scale amorphous silica nanostructures, including nanowires, nanotubes and flowerlike nanowire bunches depending on the position, have been fabricated on silicon wafer through a cheap route under the assistance of gold and germanium. Accompanying the observation of blue-green light emission, comprehensive micro-structural characterization reveals that the growth of nanostructures is catalyzed only by gold whereas the final morphology of nanostructures depends on the location to germanium ball. Au2Si, a compound of gold and silicon, is also disclosed as an intermediate state during the catalysis. New high‐flux synchrotron radiation circular dichroism (SRCD) beamlines are providing important information for structural biology, but can potentially cause denaturation of the protein samples under investigation. This effect has been studied at the new CD1 dedicated SRCD beamline at ISA in Denmark, where radiation‐induced thermal damage effects were observed, depending not only on the radiation flux but also on the focal spot size of the light. Comparisons with similar studies at other SRCD facilities worldwide has lead to the estimation of a flux density threshold under which SRCD beamlines should be operated when samples are to be exposed to low‐wavelength vacuum ultraviolet radiation for extended periods of time. 相似文献

A batch quantum multi-proxy signature scheme is proposed, in which the original signatory distributes his signing right to multiple proxy signatories, and these proxy signatories can sign multiple messages. The proxy signatories generate some single particles, and the original signatory uses the quantum-controlled-not to transmit the signing information to these single particles. Then the proxy signatories measure these single particles to generate the signature, and the arbitrator uses the comparison of quantum states to verify the signature. Compared to the existing schemes, the main merit of our scheme is that multiple quantum messages can be signed. So the signing efficiency will be increased greatly. 相似文献

Electromechanical actuators are being investigated for a wide range of applications in medical, electronics and industrial areas. One attractive application is to incorporate conducting polymer fibre actuators into fabrics for use in prosthetic applications. In this paper, the design of polypyrrole fibre actuators for use in a glove to open and close the human hand (for assisting those with paralysis or hand injuries) is described. The key requirements for this application are the simultaneous generation of 16 mm of contractile movement and 2.9 N of force. Although not critical in the first prototypes, eventually it will also be necessary to produce a rate of movement of around 10 mm sec−1. The effect of the geometry of polypyrrole actuators is examined in this paper and it is shown that a tubular geometry is superior to conventional flat films. Another aspect of the practical use of actuator materials is their control. Fabric strain gauges with polymer actuators is a convenient means for providing feedback control to the actuating element. The fabric strain gauges ideally articulate with fibre actuators to give both the actuating and sensing function in the same fabric structure. 相似文献

Doppler effect, as currently formulated. uses numerical phase invariance and any linear coordinate transformations with identity transformations of nonzero spatial coordinates transverse to a rectilinear uniform relative motion; this is shown to subtly deny presumed motion, angular aberration effects, and Doppler effect. A critical review of past Doppler effect experiments confirms (10−3 to 10−7) a classical Doppler effect formulation that does not involve an ether concept, numerical phase invariance, or the use of any coordinate transformations. 相似文献
