Production of high transverse momentum prompt photons and neutral pions in proton-proton interactions at 280 GeV/c

The inclusive cross sections for production of prompt photons and π⁰ s by 280 GeV/c protons incident on a liquid hydrogen target, have been measured forp _T in the range 4.0 to 6.5 GeV/c and for |x _F |<0.45. A quantitative comparison of the prompt photon cross section with next-to-leading order QCD predictions using Duke and Owens structure functions is performed. Phenomenological fits to the π⁰ and prompt photon cross sections are given.     

Verfeinerung der Kristallstruktur von SrO2

Refinement of the Crystal Structure of SrO₂ Single crystals of SrO₂ have been obtained after high pressure/high temperature reaction of a SrO/KClO₃ mixture at 20 kbar, 1 400°C. The crystal structure was refined using 154 unique diffractometer data (I4/mmm; a = 3.5626(3), c = 6.6159(6) Å; Z = 2; R = 0.033, R_w = 0.022, S = 0.932). The O O distance (1.493(4) Å) is significantly longer than the one previously assumed. From a refinement of the site occupation factor for oxygen a composition SrO_1.95(2) has been found for the crystal investigated.
