Über die Ammonolyse von Organometallen. XII. Die Ammonolyse von Dimethyl-diphenyl- und Dimethyl-dibenzyl-silan

Dimethyl-diphenyl and dimethyl-dibenzyl-silane react in liqu. NH₃ in the presence of KKH₂ giving rise to the formation of H₂N? Si(Me₂)? NH? Si(Me₃)? NHK (III); exclusively C₆H₅ and C₆H₅CH₂ are split off and substituted by NH₂. Reaction of the potassium compound III with the equivalent amount of NH₄Cl brings about a mixture of octamethylcyclotetrasilazane and hexamethylcyclotrisilazane.     

On the origin of the intensity of the resonant raman bands of differing polarization in heme proteins

It is shown that depolarized and inverse polarized bands dominate the resonance Raman spectrum of heme proteins when the scattering derives its intensity from different electronic transitions (the and Soret bands), while th polarized bands dominate the spectrum when the incident light is resonant with only the strong Soret band.     

Kalorimetrische Untersuchungen der Umwandlungskinetik von Ketten in amorphem Schwefel

The transformation of the chains in the amorphous sulphur was investigated by calorimetric method at the temperature range from 288 to 303 K. The results satisfy the equationX=1?exp [?(kt)²] (X-transformation degree,t—time,k andz—constants). It was found that thez values increasevs. the temperature The activation energy is equal toE=21 kJ/mol with standard deviation 5 kJ/mol. The results were explained on the basis of the theory of the nucleation and the growth of the nuclei.     

The design of an irradiator for the continuous processing of liquid latex

This paper presents anew design concept for a gamma irradiation plant for the continuous processing of pumpable liquids. Typical applications of such a plant include

• * the irradiation vulcanisation of natural latex rubber

• * disinfection of municipal sewage sludge for agricultural use

• * sterilisation of liquids in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries

• * industrial processing of bulk liquids

The authors describe the design and operation of the latex irradiator now operating on a small production scale in Malaysia and proposed developments.

The design allows irradiation processing to be carried out under an inert or other gaseous environment.

State-of-the-art computer control system ensures the fully automatic processing operation needed by industrial computers.

Zusammenfassung Plutoniumproben bis herab zu 0,1 g können mit befriedigender Genauigkeit potentiometrisch bestimmt werden. Die mit überschüssiger Cr²⁺-Lösung zu Pu³⁺ reduzierte Plutoniumprobe kann mit einer Ce⁴⁺ Maßlösung titriert werden. 13C NMR studies of molecular relaxation processes in polar fluids

A study of the dynamical molecular structure of a dilute polar fluid is reported, in which ¹³C spin-lattice relaxation times of decanol in deuterated cyclohexane are presented for the individual carbon atoms, and the results are discussed in the context of viscosity data of decanol in alkane systems. The two techniques provide complementary information about the mobility of the alcohol chains and the onset of multimer formation, which is also pertinent to the dynamics of electron solvation in the same systems.

On Chalcogenolates. 103. Reaction of Guanidine with Carbon Disulfide The reaction between guanidine and carbon disulfide in cold aqueous acetone leads to guanidinium guanidinodithioformate. In heat the reaction gives guanidinium trithiocarbonate and the guanidinium salt of 4-imino-2,6-dithio-1,3,5-thiadiazine. In ethanolic solution guanidine reacts with carbon disulfide to form guanidinium ethyl xanthate. The prepared compounds have been characterized with chemical methods as well as by means of electron absorption spectra, i.r. spectra, n.m.r. spectra, and mass spectra.     

Peptides—XXXVII: Synthesis of the 1–37 fragment of a lysozyme analogue

Combination of the protected peptide fragments 1–16, 17–26 and 27–37 to yield the 1–37 portion of a lysozyme analogue is described. The fragments were combined using DCCI with the addition of HONSu, and the products purified mainly by gel filtration.
