Oxadiazole: Synthesis,characterization and biological activities

The synthesis of novel achiral and chiral amides incorporating 1,3,4-oxadiazole ring are reported. All the synthesized amides are characterized ¹H, ¹³C, FTIR and elemental analysis techniques. Synthesized compounds are screened for microbial and cytotoxic activities.     

Compositional dependence of structural parameters,polyhedral distortion and magnetic properties of gallium ferrite

We show the effect of composition on the structure, polyhedral distortion and magnetic characteristics of pure phase polycrystalline Ga_2?xFe_xO₃ (GFO) for compositions between 0.8≤x≤1.3. X-ray analysis reveals that lattice parameters of GFO exhibit a linear dependence on Fe content in single phase region indicating manifestation of Vegard's law. Upon changing the composition, a rather small change in the overall unit cell volume (～1%) appears to be an outcome of a competition between changing trends of various polyhedra. Increasing Fe content of the samples also leads to stretching of the bonds as indicated by the Raman peak shifts. Further, low temperature magnetic measurements show that the coercivity of the samples is maximum for Ga:Fe ratio of 1:1 driven by a competition between decreasing crystallite size and increasing magnetic anisotropy.     

Stability of the forced vibrational motion of a vehicular body supported by rubber shear mountings with quadratic response

The stability of the harmonic solution of the forced Duffing equation governing the relative motion of a load on an inclined plate rotating at a constant angular speed about an arbitrary axis is studied. The load is supported by two identical simple shear springs made of a quadratic rubber-like material. It is found that the stability of motion about the center points is governed by the solutions of Hill's equation with three parameter. For certain values of the design parameters, Hill's equation reduces to the Mathieu equation and stability of the motion is studied following the standard procedure. In the general case, an intermediate bifurcation of the response amplitude occurs for motions about the negative center points. It is shown that the position of the center of mass of the load with respect to the plate center in the undisturbed state affects the nature of the response to a great extent. Without extensive analysis, the stability of motion in the general case is predicted for a specific range of the values of the angular speed of the plate.     

Poynting oscillations of a rigid disk supported by a neo-Hookean shaft

Simultaneous axial and torsional oscillations of a rigid disk attached to an elastomeric shaft are investigated. Five cases are solved exactly. The uncoupled, small amplitude axial and torsional oscillations of the disk are investigated for neo-Hookean and Mooney-Rivlin shafts with static stretch. The finite torsional vibration of the load superimposed on a static stretch of the shaft is studied for the Mooney-Rivlin model. Solutions for both small and finite amplitude, uniaxial vibrations of the body superimposed on a pretwisted neo-Hookean shaft with static stretch are derived. Simple bounds on the period for the finite motion are provided; and various universal frequency relations for neo-Hookean and Mooney-Rivlin materials are identified.Finally, the main problem of finite, uniaxial vibrations accompanied by a small twisting motion is studied for the neo-Hookean model. The exact periodic solution for the axial response is obtained; and the coupled, small torsional motion is then determined by Hill's equation. A stability criterion for the Mathieu-Hill equation is used to obtain stability maps in a physical parameter space. Geometrical conditions sufficient for universal stability of the motion are read from this graph. Instability of the torsional oscillation, the beating phenomenon and exchange of energies, and the relation of the stability diagram to amplitude bounds on the uncoupled, linearized motion sufficient to assure universal stability predicted for small amplitude vibrations, are discussed and described graphically with the aid of a numerical model. It is shown that an unstable configuration may be stabilized by increasing the diameter of the disk.     

Severe climate sway in coherent CDMA-OSSB-FSO transmission system

Free space optics (FSO) link at high transmission rate is delimited due to its perceptivity to diversified surroundings especially in hilly regions. A demonstration of CDMA-FSO coherent detection system is reported in this work to achieve a prolonged 10 Gbps-FSO link with acceptable SNR under the impact profound haze, rain and fog environment. Further, the work is extended to weigh the proposed CO-CDMA-OSSB-FSO transmission system against OFDM-OSSB-FSO direct detection system 0045 and 0050.     

Silica-supported boric acid with ionic liquid: a novel recyclable catalytic system for one-pot three-component Mannich reaction

A rapid and efficient silica-supported boric acid/ionic liquid ([bmim][PF?]), catalyzed, one-pot three-component Mannich reaction has been carried out to synthesize β-amino carbonyl compounds at room temperature. The reaction afforded desired products in excellent yields with moderate to good diastereoselectivity. The method provides a novel modification of three-component Mannich reaction in terms of mild reaction conditions, clean reaction profiles, low amount of catalyst, recyclability of catalyst and a simple workup procedure. The present report first time describes the preparation of H?BO?-SiO? catalyst and its use with [bmim][PF?], to synthesize Mannich products. The catalyst can be reused at least seven times.     

[Hydroxy(tosyloxy)iodo]benzene: A Tosyloxylating Agent with Selectivity for Ketones in the Reactions with Benzalacetones

The treatment of enolizable ketones containing a conjugated double bond, namely benzalacetones with [hydroxy(tosyloxy)iodo]benzene, leads to regioselective tosyloxylation, thereby giving new compounds (α-tosyloxybenzalacetones).     

Selective synthesis of 4,5-dihydroimidazo- and imidazo[1,5-a]quinoxalines via modified Pictet–Spengler reaction

An efficient tandem approach for the selective synthesis of 4,5-dihydroimidazo[1,5-a]quinoxalines 6a–g and imidazo[1,5-a]quinoxalines 7a–h by the reaction of 2-imidazolyl anilines 4a–c with aryl aldehydes 5a–k under mild reaction conditions is described. Introduction of electron releasing alkyl groups in substrates 4a–b was found to be instrumental for the success of the reaction.
