Mid-infrared photonics in silicon needs low-loss integrated waveguides. While monocrystalline germanium waveguides on silicon have been proposed, experimental realization has not been reported. Here we demonstrate a germanium strip waveguide on a silicon substrate. It is designed for single mode transmission of light in transverse magnetic (TM) polarization generated from quantum cascade lasers at a wavelength of 5.8 μm. The propagation losses were measured with the Fabry-Perot resonance method. The lowest achieved propagation loss is 2.5 dB/cm, while the bending loss is measured to be 0.12 dB for a 90° bend with a radius of 115 μm.  相似文献

The oxidation of 1,5‐dimethyl‐3‐(2′‐pyridyl)‐6‐thiooxotetrazane (SvdH3py) by benzoquinone leads to a 1:1 adduct of 1,5‐dimethyl‐3‐(2′‐pyridyl)‐6‐thiooxoverdazyl radical (Svdpy) with hydroquinone (hq). The single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction of this adduct at room temperature (RT) shows that the radicals exhibit a slight curvature that leads to the formation of alternating head‐to‐tail (antiparallel) stacked 1D chains. Moreover, temperature‐dependent X‐ray measurements at 100, 200, and 303 K reveal that the lateral slippages between the radicals of the stacks |δ1| and |δ2| vary from 0.64 to 0.78 Å and 0.54 to 0.40 Å between 100 and 303 K. Despite the alternation of the inter‐radical distances and lateral slippages, the magnetic susceptibility data can be fitted with excellent agreement using a regular one‐dimensional antiferromagnetic chain model with J=?5.9 cm?1. Wavefunction‐based calculations indicate an alternation of the magnetic interaction parameters correlated with the structural analysis at RT. Moreover, they demonstrate that the thermal slippage of the radicals induces a switching of the physical behavior, since the exchange interaction changes from antiferromagnetic (?0.9 cm?1) at 100 K to ferromagnetic (1.4 cm?1) at 303 K. The theoretical approach thus reveals a much richer magnetic behavior than the analysis of the magnetic susceptibility data and ultimately questions the relevance of a spin‐coupled picture based on temperature‐independent parameters.  相似文献

Diblock copolymers are generated using xanthate‐based RAFT agents in conjunction with emulsion polymerization via stage‐wise operations. First, emulsion polymerization is conducted for styrene, methyl acrylate, and butyl acrylate monomers to obtain polymers of specified molar mass. At the second stage, polymers undergo chain extension to produce block copolymers. Linear growth of molecular weight with respect to conversion establishes the living characteristics of the process. Under batch conditions, partly homopolymers are produced. Semi‐batch operation produces copolymers of higher purity with low polydispersity. The choice of blocking sequence is crucial for reducing the influence of the terminated chains on the distribution sequence of copolymers produced.

The Coulomb explosion of CH(3)I in an intense (10-100 TW cm(-2)), ultrashort (50 fs) and nonresonant (804 nm) laser field has been studied experimentally and justified theoretically. Ion images have been recorded using the velocity map imaging (VMI) technique for different singly and multiply charged ion fragments, CH(3)(p+) (p = 1) and I(q+) (q ≤ 3), arising from different Coulomb explosion channels. The fragment kinetic energy distributions obtained from the measured images for these ion fragments show significantly lower energies than those expected considering only Coulomb repulsion forces. The experimental results have been rationalized in terms of one-dimensional wave packet calculations on ab initio potential energy curves of the different multiply charged species. The calculations reveal the existence of a potential energy barrier due to a bound minimum in the potential energy curve of the CH(3)I(2+) species and a strong stabilization with respect to the pure Coulombic repulsion for the higher charged CH(3)I(n+) (n = 3, 4) species.  相似文献

A [2]rotaxane, in which the peptidic axle is protected from degradation by the macrocyclic sheath and terminated with a novel glycosidase-cleavable stopper, is rendered water-soluble by derivatisation with tetra(ethylene glycol) (TetEG) or glucosylated tetra(ethylene glycol) (Glc-TetEG) chains using the CuAAC 'click' reaction. The Glc-TetEG-derivatised rotaxane propeptide is >50?000 times more soluble in aqueous media than the parent rotaxane. Activation of the water-soluble rotaxane propeptide with a β-galactosidase efficiently releases the parent peptide.  相似文献

Well-defined graft copolymers were obtained using a copper-catalysed azide-alkyne Huisgen's cycloaddition click reaction from both biocompatible and non-toxic poly(ε-caprolactone) and poly(2-methyl-2-oxazoline) homopolymers. Resulting amphiphilic copolymers proved to form micelles that could be used as potential drug carriers.  相似文献

The hybrid calix[2]phenol[2]pyrrole 4 and the fused pyrrolidine-containing macrocycle 9 were synthesized from two different isomeric starting materials, namely dimethyl 2-hydroxyisophthalate and 5-hydroxyisophthalate, respectively. The fused species 9 is devoid of obvious substrate binding properties. In contrast, the heterocalix system 4 displays the fluoride-induced conformational changes characteristic of the parent system.  相似文献

This article reviews recent developments in spectroscopic analysis of electrode-immobilised enzymes under direct, unmediated electrochemical control. These methods unite the suite of spectroscopic methods available for characterisation of structural, electronic and coordination changes in proteins with the exquisite control over complex redox enzymes that can be achieved in protein film electrochemistry in which immobilised protein molecules exchange electrons directly with an electrode. This combination is particularly powerful in studies of highly active enzymes where redox states can be controlled even under fast electrocatalytic turnover. We examine examples in which UV-visible, IR, Raman and MCD spectroscopy have been combined with direct electrochemistry to probe redox-dependent chemistry, and consider future opportunities for 'direct' spectroelectrochemistry of immobilised enzymes.  相似文献

A series of porous Zr oxoclusters-based MOFs was computationally explored for their gas storage/capture performances. The highly porous UiO-67(Zr) and UiO-68(Zr) solids show exceptionally high CH(4) and CO(2) adsorption capacities under operating conditions that make these thermal, water and mechanical resistant materials very promising for physisorption-based processes.  相似文献
