Limit of infinitely strong coupling in quantum chromodynamics and the model of dominance of anomalies of quark loops (the DAQL model)

Within the framework of quantum chromodynamics in the limit of infinitely strong coupling a field-theoretic justification is given for the phenomenological model of dominance of anomalies of quark loops (the DAQL model) which successfully descrbides interaction process at low meson energies of the meson J^p=0⁺, 0^–, 1^– and 1⁺.Translated from Zapiski Nauchnykh Seminarov Leningradskogo Otdeleniya Matematicheskogo Institute im. A new proof of the integrability of the subdifferential of a convex function on a Banach space

We provide a simple proof of the Moreau-Rockafellar theorem that a proper lower semicontinuous convex function on a Banach space is determined up to a constant by its subdifferential.

Fermentation of Fragrances: Biotransformation of β-Ionone by Lasiodiplodia theobromae

Pre-grown mycelia of Lasiodiplodia theobromae ATCC 28570 transform β-ionone (1) into a large variety of metabolites, by mainly degrading the side-chain of the β-ionone molecule by a C₂-unity. The enzyme system responsible for this degradation is proposed to be an oxygenase, which gives rise to the formation of the main product β-cyclo-homogeraniol (8) in analogy to a Baeyer- Villiger oxidation. Further enzymic actions of Lasiodiplodia such as hydrogenations and hydroxylations lead to an accumulation of several not yet described β-ionone metabolites.     

Combinatorial interpretations of the q-Faulhaber and q-Salié coefficients

Recently, Guo and Zeng discovered two families of polynomials featuring in a q-analogue of Faulhaber's formula for the sums of powers and a q-analogue of Gessel-Viennot's formula involving Salié's coefficients for the alternating sums of powers. In this paper, we show that these are polynomials with symmetric, nonnegative integral coefficients by refining Gessel-Viennot's combinatorial interpretations.     

Wide dynamic range detection of bidirectional flow in Doppler optical coherence tomography using a two-dimensional Kasai estimator

We demonstrate extended axial flow velocity detection range in a time-domain Doppler optical coherence tomography (DOCT) system using a modified Kasai velocity estimator with computations in both the axial and transverse directions. For a DOCT system with an 8 kHz rapid-scanning optical delay line, bidirectional flow experiments showed a maximum detectable speed of >56 cm/s using the axial Kasai estimator without the occurrence of aliasing, while the transverse Kasai estimator preserved the approximately 7 microm/s minimum detectable velocity to slow flow. By using a combination of transverse Kasai and axial Kasai estimators, the velocity detection dynamic range was over 100 dB. Through a fiber-optic endoscopic catheter, in vivoM-mode transesophageal imaging of the pulsatile blood flow in rat aorta was demonstrated, for what is for the first time to our knowledge, with measured peak systolic blood flow velocity of >1 m/s, while maintaining good sensitivity to detect aortic wall motion at <2 mm/s, using this 2D Kasai technique.
