The Raman spectra of mixed crystals of [(NH4)1?x K x ]2 SO4 in the region 50–3400 cm?1 at 293 K and below 223 K have been reported. At room temperature 293 K, as the concentration of K+ ion increases in the crystal up to 50%, the frequencies of the totally symmetric vibrations of SO 4 2? and NH 4 + ions increase and thereafter the frequency of SO 4 2? vibration decreases and attains the value in K2SO4. This change in frequency up to 50% of potassium concentration is due to the breaking of hydrogen bonds of the type N-H...O. The behaviour of Raman intensities of A g (v 1) mode of SO 4 2? for various concentrations (x=0, 0·03, 0·11, 0·5, 0·85) suggest that the phase transition changes from first order type to one of second order. The phase transition in mixed crystals of [(NH4)1?x K x ]2 SO4 can be a cooperative phenomenon arising from a coupling between (NH4)+ ions through hydrogen bonds with the distorted SO 4 2? ions in the low temperature phase. 相似文献

The Lagrangian–Eulerian (LE) approach is used in many computational methods to simulate two-way coupled dispersed two-phase flows. These include averaged equation solvers, as well as direct numerical simulations (DNS) and large-eddy simulations (LES) that approximate the dispersed-phase particles (or droplets or bubbles) as point sources. Accurate calculation of the interphase momentum transfer term in LE simulations is crucial for predicting qualitatively correct physical behavior, as well as for quantitative comparison with experiments. Numerical error in the interphase momentum transfer calculation arises from both forward interpolation/approximation of fluid velocity at grid nodes to particle locations, and from backward estimation of the interphase momentum transfer term at particle locations to grid nodes. A novel test that admits an analytical form for the interphase momentum transfer term is devised to test the accuracy of the following numerical schemes: (1) fourth-order Lagrange Polynomial Interpolation (LPI-4), (3) Piecewise Cubic Approximation (PCA), (3) second-order Lagrange Polynomial Interpolation (LPI-2) which is basically linear interpolation, and (4) a Two-Stage Estimation algorithm (TSE). A number of tests are performed to systematically characterize the effects of varying the particle velocity variance, the distribution of particle positions, and fluid velocity field spectrum on estimation of the mean interphase momentum transfer term. Numerical error resulting from backward estimation is decomposed into statistical and deterministic (bias and discretization) components, and their convergence with number of particles and grid resolution is characterized. It is found that when the interphase momentum transfer is computed using values for these numerical parameters typically encountered in the literature, it can incur errors as high as 80% for the LPI-4 scheme, whereas TSE incurs a maximum error of 20%. The tests reveal that using multiple independent simulations and higher number of particles per cell are required for accurate estimation using current algorithms. The study motivates further testing of LE numerical methods, and the development of better algorithms for computing interphase transfer terms. 相似文献

In this paper, the periodic motions of a nonlinear system with quadratic,cubic, and parametrically excited stiffness terms and with time-delayterms are obtained by the incremental harmonic balance (IHB) method. Theelements of the Jacobian matrix and residue vector arising in the IHBformulation are derived in closed form. A mechanism model representingthe one-mode oscillation of beams and plates is considered as anexample. A path-following algorithm with an arc-length parametriccontinuation procedure is used to obtain the response diagrams. Thesystem also exhibits chaotic motion through a cascade of period-doublingbifurcations, which is characterized by phase planes, Poincaré sectionsand Lyapunov exponents. An integral equation formulation for buoyancy-driven convection problems is developed and illustrated. Buoyancy-driven convection in a bounded cylindrical geometry with a free surface is studied for a range of aspect ratios and Nusselt numbers. The critical Rayleigh number, the nature of the cellular motion, and the heat transfer enhancement are computed using linear theory. Green's functions are used to convert the linear problem into linear Fredholm integral equations. It is observed that the harmonic balance (HB) method of parametric identification of nonlinear system may not give right identification
results for a single test data. A multiple-trial HB scheme is suggested to obtain improved results in the identification,
compared with a single sample test. Several independent tests are conducted by subjecting the system to a range of harmonic
excitations. The individual data sets are combined to obtain the matrix for inversion. This leads to the mean square error
minimization of the entire set of periodic orbits. It is shown that the combination of independent test data gives correct

Sulfonyl fluoride electrophiles have found significant utility as reactive probes in chemical biology and molecular pharmacology. As warheads they possess the right balance of biocompatibility (including aqueous stability) and protein reactivity. Their functionality is privileged in this regard as they are known to modify not only reactive serines (resulting in their common use as protease inhibitors), but also context-specific threonine, lysine, tyrosine, cysteine and histidine residues. This review describes the application of sulfonyl fluoride probes across various areas of research and explores new approaches that could further enhance the chemical biology toolkit. We believe that sulfonyl fluoride probes will find greater utility in areas such as covalent enzyme inhibition, target identification and validation, and the mapping of enzyme binding sites, substrates and protein–protein interactions. 相似文献

A novel bimediator amperometric sensor is fabricated for the first time by surface modification of graphite electrode with thionine (TH) and nickel hexacyanoferrate (NiHCF). The electrochemical behavior of the TH/NiHCF bimediator modified electrode was characterized by cyclic voltammetry, differential pulse voltammetry and chronoamperometry. The TH/NiHCF bimediator modified electrode exhibited a pair of distinct redox peaks for NiHCF and TH with formal potentials of 0.33 V and −0.27 V vs. SCE at a scan rate of 50 mV s−1 in 0.1 M NaNO3 and 0.1 M NH4NO3 respectively. The electrocatalytic activity of the bimediator modified electrode towards oxidation of gallic acid with NiHCF and reduction of hydrogen peroxide with TH was evaluated and it was observed that the modified electrode showed an electrocatalytic activity towards the oxidation of gallic acid in the concentration range of 4.99 × 10−6–1.20 × 10−3 M with a detection limit of 1.66 × 10−6 M (S/N = 3) and reduction of H2O2 in the concentration range of 1.67 × 10−6–1.11 × 10−3 M with a detection limit of 5.57 × 10−7 M (S/N = 3). The bimediator modified electrode was found to exhibit good stability and reproducibility. 相似文献
