The neutron field and radiation shielding efficiency measurement and the luminosity monitoring using the HF RADMON system of the CMS setup

The HF RADMON system monitors radiation environment in the region of the forward calorimeter of the CMS setup. Measurements of neutron fluxes at energies of 7, 8, and 13 GeV are carried out; estimates of the radiation shielding efficiency are obtained. Modernization of the system for operating under high luminosity conditions is completed and its capabilities to be used as an additional luminometer are confirmed.     

Mathematical modeling of flow in sound-absorbing structures of resonance type in the presence of a grazing flow

Sound-absorbing structures of resonance type are studied on the basis of integration of the unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations. The formation of the boundary layer over a sound-absorbing panel is compared with that on a flat plate in the presence of an incident wave. The dependence of the panel reflection coefficient on the presence of a grazing flow and the boundary layer thickness is investigated. The results of the numerical experiment are compared with the available experimental data.     

Influence of the boundary conditions on the stress state of a flexible cylindrical shell of variable stiffness in a magnetic field

The effect of the boundary conditions on the stress state of a circular cylindrical shell of variable thickness (stiffness) is analyzed using a geometrically nonlinear problem statement. The cylindrical shell is subject to a magnetic field, external electric current, and nonstationary mechanical load. Numerical results are presented and analyzed     

Adhesion of protective coatings with modified filler

The effect of physical (ultrasonic) and chemical (exposure in 3% solution of acetic acid) activation of filler on the adhesion strength of the protective coatings based on styrene–acrylic dispersions to different substrates is studied. It is shown that modification of kaolins allows one to increase the adhesion strength by 40–50% in the case of the physical activation and by 1.1–1.2 times in the case of chemical activation. The best results are achieved with the use of E-21 dispersion as the polymer matrix.
