Femtosecond pump-probe experiments on a Ga0.85In0.15As nanocavity enclosed by two Ga(0.85)In(0.15)As/AlAs phonon Bragg mirrors reveal selective generation of terahertz confined acoustic modes and regular folded phonons. Selective generation of the confined modes alone is achievable for laser excitation at certain energies below the mirror absorption edges, corresponding to electronic transitions within the cavity layer only. Calculations based on the photoelastic effect explain the experimental results. Decay times of cavity and regular modes evidence longer decay times and anharmonic effects for the cavity mode. 相似文献

We report an experimental investigation on the effects of thermal treatments at different temperatures (room—1270 K) and for different duration (0–75 h) on amorphous silica nanoparticles (fumed silica) in powder tablet form. Three types of fumed silica are considered, comprising nearly spherical particles of 40 nm, 14 nm and 7 nm mean diameter. The experimental techniques used here are Raman and infrared absorption (IR) spectroscopy together with atomic force microscopy (AFM). Raman and IR spectra indicate that the structure of nanometer silica particles is significantly different with respect to that of a bulk silica glass. In particular, the main differences regard the positions of the IR band peaked at about 2260 cm?1, the Raman R-band peaked at about 440 cm?1 and the intensity of the D1 and the D2 Raman lines, related to the populations of 4- and 3-membered rings, respectively. Our data also indicate that, under thermal treatments, the structure of fumed silica samples is significantly changed, gradually relaxing towards that pertaining to ordinary bulk silica. These changes are interpreted here on the basis of the morphological information provided by the AFM measurements and assuming a two-shell structure for the fumed silica primary particles. 相似文献

Background
The hematopoietic Granulocyte-Colony Stimulating Factor (G-CSF) plays a crucial role in controlling the number of neutrophil progenitor cells. Its function is mediated via the G-CSF receptor, which was recently found to be expressed also in the central nervous system. In addition, G-CSF provided neuroprotection in models of neuronal cell death. Composite materials of epoxy resins reinforced by carbon fibers are increasingly being used in the construction of aircraft. In these applications, the material may be thermally damaged and weakened by jet blast and accidental fires. The feasibility of using proton NMR relaxation times T1, T1rho, and T2 to detect and quantify the thermal damage is investigated. In conventional spectrometers with homogeneous static magnetic fields, T1rho is readily measured and is found to be well correlated with thermal damage. This suggests that NMR measurements of proton T1rho may be used for non-destructive evaluation of carbon fiber-epoxy composites. Results from T1rho measurements in the inhomogeneous static and RF magnetic fields of an NMR-MOUSE are also discussed. 相似文献

The present study showed for the first time the biological properties of different fractions from Cardamine battagliae Cesca & Peruzzi, an apoendemic Calabrian (southern Italy) plant that belongs to the Cruciferae family. The antioxidant activities of the different fractions of C. battagliae were carried out using two different in vitro assays (beta-carotene bleaching test and lipid peroxidation of liposomes assay) while radical scavenging activity was carried out using DPPH test. AcOEt fraction showed the highest activity on DPPH inhibition (IC50 of 0.162 mg mL(-1)) while dichloromethane fraction showed the highest activity on beta-carotene bleaching (IC(50) of 0.004 mg mL(-1)). The assay for alpha-amylase inhibition showed that n-hexane fraction showed the highest activity with an IC50 of 0.055 mg mL(-1). 相似文献
