A (p, q, x)-latin rectangle is a rectangular matrix with x symbols in each cell such that each symbol occurs at most p times in each row and at most q times in each column. We exploit the close correspondence between (p, q, x)-latin rectangles and equitable edge-colourings of certain graphs. This paper contains results on existence and various forms of decomposition of such rectangles. In a sequel paper embedding is considered.  相似文献

Positronium yields as a function of pyridine concentration were studied in nine nonpolar solvents. Strong enhancements in the Ps yields on addition of low concentrations (< 0.3 M) of the positive hole scavenger pyridine were found in those liquids where the hole moves rapidly (i.e. partly delocalized), but not in those where the hole moves slowly. Pyridine acts also as a very weak Ps inhibitor in all systems investigated if its concentration exceeds a certain limit (≈ 0.3 M). The results can be well interpreted within the framework of the spur reaction model of Ps formation.  相似文献

Single crystals of methyl methacrylate (MMA), methyl acrylate (MA), and acrolein (A) have been prepared by a low-temperature technique. After irradiation with γ-rays at 77°K the paramagnetic species were identified by ESR spectroscopy. MMA gave a seven-line single spectrum from radicals formed by hydrogen addition. The hyperfine coupling constants are slightly anisotropic with a mean value of 22 G. Radical pairs were observed as ΔMs = 1 and ΔMs = 2 transitions; the hyperfine coupling was 11 G. From the strongly anisotropic dipolar interaction, upper limits for the distances between the pair components were calculated to be 5.45 Å and 6.3 Å. MA gave a five-line main spectrum with the same hyperfine coupling values and two radical pairs, one with a distance 5.9 Å between the components. In a there was also a strongly anisotropic interaction. The hyperfine coupling of the ΔMs = 2 transition was 9.8 G. The number of radical pairs compared to the total number of radicals increases only slightly with the radiation dose. This makes it likely that pair formation occurs in the spurs and blobs formed by the γ-radiation. At an increased temperature the radical pairs disappeared; the spectrum of MMA changed to that characteristic of propagating polymer radicals.  相似文献

Through modeling it has been shown that a concentric-tube catalytic membrane reactor can be used to increase the selectivity for the intermediate products of a consecutive reaction scheme. The reactants are fed to the tube-side of the reactor where the catalyst is also located. The wall of the tube is permeable, allowing the intermediate products to pass through to the annular space instead of undergoing further reaction. The annular space is swept by an inert gas flow and contains no catalyst. Both permselective and non-permselective membranes have been considered in both co-current and counter-current flow regimes. In contrast to most catalytic membrane reactor applications where reactions are reversible and thermodynamically limited, in the present study the reactions considered are irreversible and are under kinetic control.  相似文献

No evidence for spontaneous fission decay (and the implied presence of superheavy nuclides) has been found in a several kilogram precipitate gathered at the Atlantis-II site in the Red Sea. The sample was investigated with a neutron multiplicity counternon-destructively so that no chemical losses should have been sustained. An analysis of the precision obtained using commercially available microvalve injectors is reported for three modes of injection: conventional split; timed-split; and direct. Results from this study show that good precision (< 3% RSD for external standard and < 1% RSD for internal standard methods) can be obtained with capillary supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC). However, particular attention must be paid to the type of valve used, the orientation of the column relative to the valve, the mode of interfacing or connecting the column to the valve, and the type of pressure or density programming used for the analysis as all of these factors will affect the reproducibility.  相似文献
