It is shown that isospin-breaking corrections to the pion–deuteron scattering length can be very large, because of the vanishing of the isospin-symmetric contribution to this scattering length at leading order in chiral perturbation theory. We further demonstrate that these corrections can explain the bulk of the discrepancy between the recent experimental data on pionic hydrogen and pionic deuterium. We calculate the electromagnetic neutral pion production off tri-nucleon bound states (3H, 3He) at threshold in chiral nuclear effective field theory to fourth order in the standard heavy baryon counting. We show that the fourth-order two-nucleon corrections to the S-wave multipoles at threshold are very small. This implies that a precise measurement of the S-wave cross section for neutral pion production off 3He allows for a stringent test of the chiral perturbation theory prediction for the S-wave electric multipole $E_{0+}^{\pi^0 n}$ . 相似文献

Laser Doppler velocimetry (LDV) is a new tool for fluid dynamics studies. Using LDV the velocity vector field can be measured without disturbing the flow itself. However, in polymer melt fluid dynamics difficulties arise because of temperature problems, the relatively high pressure involved, and the often extremely slow flows. We implemented a singly resonant optical parametric oscillator based on adhesive-free-bonded periodically inverted KTiOPO4 plates. It has major advantages such as walk-off compensation and oscillation at four wavelengths. The threshold of the oscillation was measured to be 8 MW/cm2, which is about a factor of 4 lower than that based in two separate KTiOPO4 crystals. By frequency-mixing the dual-wavelength output in GaP stacks, we generated the terahertz radiation at 2.54 THz. The tuning range of the terahertz output was demonstrated to be 2.19-2.77 THz. 相似文献

In this study we report the potential and limitations of the cathodoluminescence dark spot (DS) counting as a method for the determination of dislocation density and distribution in GaN, produced by the hydride vapour phase epitaxy (HVPE). Different GaN sample series (s.i. GaN:Fe and n-type GaN:Si) were used, in order to study the dependence of the results of the DS-counting on the dopant type and concentration. By the direct comparison of these results to classical defect selective etching, the DS-measurements were validated. We report on a completely coherent, tunable, continuous-wave THz system where, for the first-time, both the transmitter and receiver are log-periodic-antenna coupled LTG-GaAs based finger-photomixers. This compact room-temperature system exhibits signal-to-noise ratios (> 103) comparable to or better than what is reported in the literature, and has potential applications in high-resolution spectroscopy and imaging.
