Composition and inhibiting action of a fraction of secondary metabolites from cotton plant leaves

The qualitative and quantitive compositions of fractions from the leaves of two self-pinching-out lines of cotton plant and of the standard variety 108-F have been determined in parallel by mass chromatography, and differences in their contents of the main metabolites have been determined. A fraction of the secondary metabolites (SMs) obtained from mature leaves of a cotton plant of the self-pinching-out line L-49 has shown a retardant activity in treatment of the growth points of plants of the Tashkent-1 variety. Synthesis and transformations of metallacycles. 30. Aluminacyclopentanes in the synthesis of secondary and tertiary alcohols

A method for the synthesis of secondary and tertiary alcohols was developed. The method is based on cycloalumination of olefins with trialkylalanes in the presence of Zr-containing catalysts followed by the CuCl-catalyzed in situ reaction of the corresponding aluminacyclopentanes with aldehydes or ketones.     

Polarographic reduction of some guanylpyrazoline nitrates and the effect of double layer structure on E1/2 values

Polarographic reduction of 4-arylhydrazono-1-guanylnitrate-3-methyl-2-pyrazoline-5-ones takes place in a single 4-electron transfer, giving a diffusion controlled irreversible wave in B.R. buffers of pH range 2.0–10.0. The reduction in these compounds takes place at the ?NH?N=C-bond. Effect of various cations, anions and solvent percentage on the reduction has been discussed. The effect of substituents and its correlation with the Hammett substituent constant (δ) have also been studied.     

Ascorbic acid as a potential masking agent in the tanning process. Olated chromium complexes involving ligating ascorbate and bridging sulfate groups

Two polynuclear complexes, a dimer and a tetramer, involving sulfate and hydroxo bridges and ligating ascorbate were isolated from aqueous solutions. Structural formulae are proposed on the basis of microanalytical and thermal analysis results, i.r., ¹³C-n.m.r., mass spectral data and magnetic measurements.     

Dynamic absorption effects in KrF* amplifiers

The results of transient loss measurements performed in a self-sustained discharge KrF^* amplifier are reported. Analysis of these results gives a minimum value of 20 for the effective gain to loss ratiog ₀/_eff, indicating that efficient extraction of energy in subpicosecond KrF^* amplifiers in the 1 J range should be achievable.     

Lifetimes of charged and neutralD mesons

We have measured the lifetimes of hadronically produced charged and neutralD mesons using silicon microstrip detectors and an active silicon target in the NA32 spectrometer at the CERN SPS. We obtainτ _D± = (10.9± _1.5 ^1.9 )·10^?13s andτ _D ^(?)10 = (4.2±0.5)·10^?13s based on 59 and 90 fully reconstructed decays respectively, giving a ratioτ _D±/τ _D ^(?)10 of 2.6 ±0.5.     

The process\pi ^0 \to \lambda _\gamma \bar \lambda _\gamma as an alternative to\pi ^0 \to v\bar v

The process \(\pi ^0 \to \lambda _\gamma \bar \lambda _\gamma \) is investigated as an alternative to \(\pi ^0 \to v\bar v\) . It is shown that the experimental bound on the branching fraction for missing energy (in the form of \(\lambda _\gamma \bar \lambda _\gamma \) and/or \(v\bar v\) ) may be understood in terms of \(\pi ^0 \to \lambda _\gamma \bar \lambda _\gamma \) for the kinematically allowed photino mass, if the squark mass is >8 GeV.     

Neutral strange particle exclusive production in charged current high-energy antineutrino interactions

The cross section of the quasi-elastic reactions \(\bar v_\mu p \to \mu ^ + \Lambda (\Sigma ^0 )\) in the energy range 5–100 GeV is determined from Fermilab 15′ bubble chamber antineutrino data. TheQ ² analysis of quasi-elastic Λ events yieldsM _A=1.0±0.3 GeV/c² for the axial mass value. With zero µΛ K ⁰ events observed, the 90% confidence level upper limit \(\sigma (\bar v_\mu p \to \mu ^ + \Lambda {\rm K}^0 )< 2.0 \cdot 10^{ - 40} cm^2 \) is obtained. At the same time, we found that the cross section of reaction \(\bar v_\mu p \to \mu ^ + \Lambda {\rm K}^0 + m\pi ^0 \) is equal to \(\left( {3.9\begin{array}{*{20}c} { + 1.6} \\ { - 1.3} \\ \end{array} } \right) \cdot 10^{ - 40} cm^2 \) .     

Critical behavior of betaine arsenate

The critical exponents , and of undeuterated and partially deuterated ferroelectric betaine arsenate are estimated. Small but remarkable deviations from the tricritical values are observed. The obtained values are tested via scaling of the isothermals.At some distance aboveT _c a cross-over of the effective critical exponent to a value typically for short-range forces is observed. A suitably defined cross-over temperature range decreases with increasing deuteration and seems to vanish near the antiferroelectric phase boundary.     

Critical dynamics of φ2n with random fields in the tree approximation

In the tree approximation, the critical relaxational dynamics of ²ⁿ with quenched random fields is calculated by renormalization near the upper critical dimensiond _u=4+2/(n–1). Although the relation between the characteristic frequency _c q and the wave-numberq is as usual,unusual results are obtained for the asymptotic decay of the order-parameter correlation functionS(q,t).Dedicated to Prof. Dr. W.
