Functional magnetic resonance imaging favors the use of multi-slice gradient-recalled echo-planar imaging due to its short image acquisition times, whole brain coverage and sensitivity to BOLD contrast. However, despite its advantages, gradient-recalled echo-planar imaging also is sensitive to static magnetic field gradients arising primarily from air-tissue interfaces. This can lead to image artifacts such as voxel shifts and complete signal loss. A method to recover signal loss by adjusting the refocusing gradient amplitude in the slice-select direction, preferably axially, is proposed. This method is implemented as an automated computer algorithm that partitions echo-planar images into regions of recoverable signal intensities using a histogram analysis and determines each region's proper refocusing gradient amplitude. As an example, different refocusing gradient amplitudes are interleaved in a fMRI acquisition to maximize the signal to noise ratio and obtain functional activation in normal and dropout regions. The effectiveness of this method is demonstrated by recovering signal voids in the orbitofrontal cortex, parahippocampal/amygdala region, and inferior visual association cortex near the cerebellum.  相似文献

Fast-spin-echo magnetic resonance (MR) images are routine components of a standard MR brain examination. On these images, blood vessels are visible as black flow void. We report that by applying an enhancement filter to a stack of routine fast-spin-echo MR images, projected angiographic images can be generated. The vascular detail in the projected image is similar to that observed in a phase-contrast image. In addition to its advantage in obtaining vessel information from routine images, the proposed post-processing technique is fast, easy to implement and completely automatic. These images provide additional vessel information that is useful when MR angiography is unavailable or as an aid in planning dedicated MR angiographic studies.  相似文献

A series of benzylamides of N-alkylated, N-acylated or free nine cyclic and one linear amino acids as potential anticonvulsants have been synthesized. The structures of the obtained compounds were designed on the basis of the previously determined structure and physicochemical properties/anticvonvulsant activity relationship of the formerly synthesized compounds of this type. The obtained compounds were evaluated in mice after intraperitoneal (i.p.) administration, by maximal electroshock seizure test (MES test), subcutaneous (s.c.) pentylenetetrazol test (s.c. PTZ test) and by the rotarod neurotoxicity test (Tox test). The results were the basis for their classification into one of three classes of the Anticonvulsant Screening Project (ASP) of the Antiepileptic Drug Development Program (ADDP) of the NIH. Three selected compounds were tested quantitatively in rats after oral administration. The MES ED50, s.c. PTZ ED50, Tox TD50 were determined and their protective index (PI) values were calculated. Anticonvulsant activity of the most promising compound (15) was examined in different seizure models. The respective ED50 and PI values of this compound were as follows: against bicuculline, 73 and 1.4; against PTZ, 47 and 2.2; against strychnine, 73 and 1.4; against pilocarpine 156, and 0.7; against kainic acid (2-carboxy-4-isopropenyl-3-pyrrolidineacetic acid), 39 and 2.6; against AMPA (alpha-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid), 10 and 10.3 and against NMDA (N-methyl-D-Aspartic acid), 114 and 0.9.  相似文献

Among all image transforms, the classical (Euclidean) Fourier transform has had the widest range of applications in image processing. Here its projective analogue, given by the double cover groupSL(2, ℂ) of the projective groupPSL(2, ℂ) for patterns, is developed. First, a projectively invariant classification of patterns is constructed in terms of orbits of the groupPSL(2, ℂ) acting on the image plane (with complex coordinates) by linear-fractional transformations. Then,SL(2, ℂ)-harmonic analysis, in the noncompact picture of induced representations, is used to decompose patterns into the components invariant under irreducible representations of the principal series ofSL(2, ℂ). Usefulness in digital image processing problems is studied by providing a camera model in which the action ofSL(2, ℂ) on the complex image plane corresponds to, and exhausts, planar central projections as produced when aerial images of the same scene are taken from different vantage points. The projectively adapted properties of theSL(2, ℂ)-harmonic analysis, as applied to the problems, in image processing, are confirmed by computational tests. Therefore, it should be an important step in developing a system for automated perspective-independent object recognition.  相似文献

We demonstrate that in the Breit equation with a central potentialV(r) having the propertyV(r 0)=E there appears a Klein paradox atr=r 0. This phenomenon, besides the previously found Klein paradox arr→∞ appearing ifV(r)→∞ atr→∞, seems to indicate that in the Breit equation valid in the singleparticle theory the sea of particle-antiparticle pairs is not well separated from the considered two-body configuration. We conjecture that both phenomena should be absent from the Salpeter equation which is consistent with the hole theory. We prove this conjecture in the limit ofm (1)→∞ andm (2)→∞, where we neglect the terms ~1/m (1) and 1/m (2). In Appendix I we show that in the Breit equation the oscillations accumulating atr=r 0 in the case ofm (1)m (2) are normalizable to the Dirac δ-function. In Appendix II the analogical statement is justified for the nonoscillating singular behaviour appearing atr=r 0 in the case ofm (1)=m (2).  相似文献
