Control of the optical properties of gel-derived oxide films containing fine metal particles is described. The duration of the aging of Si(OC2H5)4-derived sols and the amount of water for hydrolyzing Si(OC2H5)4 were found to greatly affect the size and the shape of Au particles formed in the silica matrix, and accordingly the optical absorption of the Au/SiO2 composite films. Employing dielectric media with high refractive indices like TiO2 was shown to shift the absorption peak of Au particles to longer wavelengths. A criterion for the selection of a suitable plasticizer for calix[n]arene-based ion-selective electrodes is discussed. The cation selectivity of plasticized membranes without the ligand was first measured as a reference. The membranes can be roughly classified into two groups. The first group shows cation selectivity in the order Cs++>K+>Na+>Li+. The membranes in the second group are made of phosphorus plasticizers, which show a selectivity in the reverse order. The plasticizers in the first group featured a linear relationship between the dipole moment of the plasticizer (calculated by a PM3 method) and the ratio of cesium selectivity to lithium selectivity. The linear relationship supports the view that the polar membrane which includes a soft plasticizer with a large dipole moment shows selectivity for Cs+, whereas the nonpolar membrane including the soft plasticizer with the small dipole moment shows much lower selectivity for Cs+. Next, 2-fluorphenyl-2-nitrophenyl ether (FPNPE) which showed the highest Cs+ selectivity and tris(2-ethylhexyl)phosphate (TEHP) which showed the highest Li+ selectivity were mixed in an appropriate ratio to make membranes with a different affinity for hard ions. The metal selectivities of several crown-based and calixarene-based ionophores were examined in these membranes. Although a few exceptions exist, the polar soft membrane is favorable when the interfering metal ion is hard, whereas the hard membrane is favorable when the interfering metal ion is soft. 相似文献

Poly[4-(4-hydroxyphenoxy) benzoic acid] was prepared by the bulk polycondensation of 4-(4-acetoxyphenoxy) benzoic acid. Polycondensation was conducted at 350°C for 3 h under a reduced pressure of 0.1 mmHg and gave a polymer with X?n of 255. The polymer was characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and wide-angle X-ray measurement. The crystal/nematic and nematic/isotropic phase transition temperatures of polymer, which depend on the molecular weight, were observed at about 300°C and 410°C, respectively. The polymers with low molecular weights showed nematic textures above 300°C. This nematic/isotropic phase transition temperature is lower than that of poly (4-hydroxybenzoic acid). This thermal behavior of polymer comes from ether units, which increase the flexibility (the rotation or torsion of skeletal bonds) of the polymer chain. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 相似文献

The energy spectra of free water molecules were measured at scattering angles 2θ ranging from 10.5° to 75.7°, using an angle-dispersive-type diffractometer and synchrotron radiation as an X-ray source. A silicon (111) monochrometer was used to obtain incident X-rays with the wavelengths of (1.543/n) Å (n = 1,3,4,5). Observed inelastic scattering peaks are clearly separated from eleastic ones at s values [s = (4π/λ) sin Å] larger than 8 Å?1. The increase of the separation with an increasing s value was consistent with the classical theory of the Compton shift. The total (elastic plus inelastic) intensities were obtained over a range of s = 0.74–5.0 Å?1. Experimental difference intensities Δσee and Δσne were obtained separately by combining the X-ray and high-energy electron scattering data. The experimental results are in reasonable agreement with the theoretical intensities calculated from SCF and CI molecular wave functions with a basis set of double-zeta plus polarization functions. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 相似文献

Silica sol-gel films were prepared by dipping, starting from an acid catalyzed solution of methyltriethoxysilane (MTES) and tetraethoxysilane (TEOS). Silver metal nanoparticles were produced in the silica layer by introducing in the sol-gel precursor solution AgNO3 or AgClO4·H2O. The silver ions were thermally reduced in air at 800°C, giving an intense yellow coating film. The silver metal particles were observed by transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The diameter of the silver particles was found to be about 10 nm. Absorption measurements in the UV-Vis were used to evaluate the volume fraction of silver colloids embedded in the silica layer. 相似文献

We present a fluorescence activation-coupled protein labeling (FAPL) method, which employs small-molecular probes that exhibit almost no basal fluorescence but acquire strong fluorescence upon covalent binding to tag-proteins. This method enables real-time imaging of protein labeling without any washout process and is uniquely suitable for real-time imaging of protein dynamics on the cell surface. The spin-unrestricted Hartree-Fock (UHF)-based coupled cluster singles and doubles (UHF-CCSD) and Mukherjee's state-specific multireference CCSD (MkCCSD) methods are applied to four ring-opening reactions. The spin-restricted Hartree-Fock (RHF)-based CCSD (RHF-CCSD) calculations are also performed for comparison. In the case of the UHF-CCSD method, an approximate spin-projection (AP) method is applied to the broken-symmetry (BS) singlet solution to remove the spin contamination effect. For potential energy curves (PECs) of all reactions presented in this study, the results of RHF-CCSD and UHF-CCSD are substantially different from those of MkCCSD, while the results after the AP method (AP-UCCSD) reproduce the MkCCSD results well. It strongly suggests that the spin contamination effect should be removed by the AP correction even at the UHF-CCSD level to predict reliable energetics of these reactions. 相似文献

Although polyethylene oxide (PEO) offers several advantages as a sieving polymer in SDS capillary polymer electrophoresis (SDS-CPE), solution properties of PEO cause deterioration in the electrophoresis because PEO in solution aggregates itself, degrades into smaller pieces, and forms polymer-micelle complexes with SDS. We examined protein separation on SDS-CPE with PEO as a sieving matrix in four individual buffer solutions: Tris-CHES, Tris-Gly, Tris-Tricine, and Tris-HCl buffers. The solution properties of PEO as a sieving matrix in those buffers were examined by dynamic light scattering (DLS) and by surface tension. Preferential SDS adsorption onto PEO disturbed protein-SDS complexation and impaired the protein separation efficiency. Substantial adsorption of SDS to PEO was particularly observed in Tris-Gly buffer. The Tris-CHES buffer prevented SDS from adsorbing onto the PEO. Only Tris-CHES buffer achieved separation of six proteins. This study demonstrated efficient protein separation on SDS-CPE with PEO. 相似文献
