Catalysis of the beta-elimination reaction of N-[2-(4-pyridyl)ethyl]quinuclidinium (1) and N-[2-(2-pyridyl)ethyl]quinuclidinium (2) by Zn(2+) and Cd(2+) in OH(-)/H(2)O (pH = 5.20-6.35, 50 degrees C, and mu = 1 M KCl) has been studied. In the presence of Zn(2+), the elimination reactions of both isomers occur from the Zn(2+)-complexed substrates (C). The equilibrium constants for the dissociation of the Zn(2+)-complexes are as follows: K(d) = 0.012 +/- 0.003 M (isomer 1) and K(d) = 0.065 +/- 0.020 M (isomer 2). The value of k(C)(H2O) for isomer 1 is 4.81 x 10(-6) s(-1). For isomer 2 both the rate constants for the "water" and OH(-)-induced reaction of the Zn(2+)-complexed substrate could be measured, despite the low concentration of OH(-) in the investigated reaction mixture [k(C)H2O)= 1.97 x 10(-6) s(-1) and k(C)(OH-)= 21.9 M(-1) s(-1), respectively]. The measured metal activating factor (MetAF), i.e., the reactivity ratio between the complexed and the uncomplexed substrate, is 8.1 x 10(4) for the OH(-)-induced elimination of 2. This high MetAF can be compared with the corresponding proton activating factor (Alunni, S.; Conti, A.; Palmizio Errico, R. J. Chem. Soc., Perkin Trans. 2 2000, 453), PAF = 1.5 x 10(6) and is in agreement with an E1cb irreversible mechanism (A(xh)D(E)* + D(N)) (Guthrie, R. D.; Jencks, W. P. Acc. Chem. Res. 1989, 22, 343). A value of k(C)(H2O)>or= 23 x 10(-7) s(-1) is estimated for the Cd(2+)-complexed isomer 2, while catalysis by Cd(2+) has not been observed for isomer 1. 相似文献

The interaction of fluorinated alcohols with the anionic hydrido complex [HRe2(CO)9]- (1) has been investigated by NMR spectroscopy. According to the acidic strength of the alcohols, the interaction may result not only in the formation of dihydrogen-bonded ROH...[HRe2(CO)9]- adducts 2, but also in proton transfer to give the neutral species [H2Re2(CO)9] (3). With the weaker acid trifluoroethanol (TFE) evidence for the occurrence of the dihydrogen-bonding equilibrium was obtained by 2D 1H NOESY. The dependence of the hydride chemical shift on TFE concentration at different temperatures provided values for the constants of this equilibrium, from which the thermodynamic parameters were evaluated as deltaH(degrees) = -2.6(2) kcal mol(-1), deltaS(degrees) = -9.3(2) cal mol(-1) K(-1). This corresponds to a rather low basicity factor (E(j) = 0.64). Variable-temperature T1 measurements allowed the proton-hydride distance in adduct 2 a to be estimated (1.80 angstroms). In the presence of hexafluoroisopropyl alcohol (HFIP) simultaneous occurrence of both dihydrogen-bonding and proton-transfer equilibria was observed, and the equilibria shifted versus the protonated product 3 with increasing HFIP concentration and decreasing temperature. Reversible proton transfer between the alcohol and the hydrido complex occurs on the NMR timescale, as revealed by a 2D 1H EXSY experiment at 240 K. For the more acidic perfluoro-tert-butyl alcohol (PFTB) the protonation equilibrium was further shifted to the right. Thermal instability of 3 prevented the acquisition of accurate thermodynamic data for these equilibria. The occurrence of the proton-transfer processes (in spite of the unfavorable pK(a) values) can be explained by the formation of homoconjugated RO...HOR- pairs which stabilize the alcoholate anions. 相似文献

Nanosized PTFE/polystyrene core‐shell particles were prepared by seed emulsion polymerization technique starting from PTFE seeds of 20 nm. At the end of the reaction, no residual PTFE nor secondary nucleation was observed and by appropriately choosing the ratio between the monomer and the PTFE seed it was possible to obtain particles, with predetermined size in the range 60–100 nm, featuring an extremely narrow size distribution. These particles were successfully employed as building blocks for the preparation of large scale nanosized monolayers through the floating technique. Reactive ion etching was further applied to modulate the size characteristics of the resulting 2D ordered nanostructure. Although for relatively short RIE times a peculiar continuous morphology was observed in which the particles are interconnected through thin arms, on further increasing the RIE time a well‐organized 2D arrangement of particles with size of about 30 nm was obtained. Considering the shell as an expendable ordering and spacing tool, the use of core‐shell nanospheres allows a wide variety of controlled morphologies to be designed and prepared thus opening new perspectives for nanostructure fabrication processes through nanosphere lithography (NSL).
