Three coordination polymers of 5-aminoisophthalic acid with similar benzimidazole derivative ligands: synthesis,structure and DNA-binding studies

Three novel coordination polymers, [Co(NH₂-Aip)(H₂Bibim)] _n (1), [Co(NH₂-Aip)(HBibimop)] _n  √ nH₂O (2) and [Mn(NH₂-Aip) √ H₂O] _n  √ 2nH₂O (3) with NH₂-Aip and similar benzimidazole derivative ligands (NH₂-Aip = 5-aminoisophthalic acid, H₂Bibim = 2,2′-bibenzimidazole and HBibimop = 1,3-bis(benzimidazol-2-yl)-2-oxapropane), have been synthesised under hydrothermal conditions and structurally characterised by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, elemental analysis and IR spectroscopy. 5-Aminoisophthalic acid ligand adopts μ₂-, μ₃- and μ₄-bridge coordination fashion and benzimidazole derivatives exist as terminal- and bridge-mode in complexes 1–3. The intricate hydrogen bonds and π–π stacking interactions in supramolecular framework are discussed. Using the combination of ultraviolet–visible absorption titration and fluorescence spectra, the experimental results show that complexes 1 and 2 bind to DNA in an intercalative mode and their DNA-binding constants (K _b ) are also found.     

A convenient synthesis of 2β,3α-dihydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid as a natural diastereoisomer of corosolic acid

2β,3α-Dihydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid（6） is a naturally occurring diastereoisomer of corosolic acid with glycogen phosphorylase inhibitory activity.A new strategy for the semi-synthesis of 6 was developed.Using the commercially available ursolic acid（1） as the starting materials,6 was synthesized through five facile reactions with a high stereoselectivity and an overall yield of 47.3%.The structure of 6 was confirmed by optical rotation.ESI-MS,¹H NMR and ¹³C NMR data.     

Identification of urinary metabolites of imperatorin with a single run on an LC/Triple TOF system based on multiple mass defect filter data acquisition and multiple data mining techniques

The detection of drug metabolites, especially for minor metabolites, continues to be a challenge because of the complexity of biological samples. Imperatorin (IMP) is an active natural furocoumarin component originating from many traditional Chinese herbal medicines and is expected to be pursued as a new vasorelaxant agent. In the present study, a generic and efficient approach was developed for the in vivo screening and identification of IMP metabolites using liquid chromatography-Triple TOF mass spectrometry. In this approach, a novel on-line data acquisition method mutiple mass defect filter (MMDF) combined with dynamic background subtraction was developed to trace all probable urinary metabolites of IMP. Comparing with the traditionally intensity-dependent data acquisition method, MMDF method could give the information of low-level metabolites masked by background noise and endogenous components. Thus, the minor metabolites in complex biological matrices could be detected. Then, the sensitive and specific multiple data-mining techniques extracted ion chromatography, mass defect filter, product ion filter, and neutral loss filter were used for the discovery of IMP metabolites. Based on the proposed strategy, 44 phase I and 7 phase II metabolites were identified in rat urine after oral administration of IMP. The results indicated that oxidization was the main metabolic pathway and that different oxidized substituent positions had a significant influence on the fragmentation of the metabolites. Two types of characteristic ions at m/z 203 and 219 can be observed in the MS/MS spectra. This is the first study of IMP metabolism in vivo. The interpretation of the MS/MS spectra of these metabolites and the proposed metabolite pathway provide essential data for further pharmacological studies of other linear-type furocoumarins.     

K2CO3-Promoted Domino Reactions for Synthesis of Isocoumarins Under Microwave Irradiation

A small library of isocoumarin derivatives has been synthesized via K₂CO₃-catalyzed domino reactions of 2-carboxybenzaldehyde and ω-bromoacetophenones under microwave irradiation (MW). This strategy offers a simple, environmentally acceptable route to synthesize isocoumarin derivatives in moderate to excellent yields. All new compounds were characterized by ¹H NMR, ¹³C NMR, infrared, and high-resolution mass spectroscopic techniques.     

Efficient One-Pot Synthesis of Benzimidazoles Under Solvent-Free Conditions

A green, efficient method for the synthesis of various 2-aryl-benzimidazoles in the presence of hypervalent iodine as the oxidant at room temperature under solvent-free conditions is reported. The salient features of this method include mild conditions, short reaction times (3–5 min), excellent yields, and simple procedure.     

Improvement in Uranium Adsorption Properties of Amidoxime-Based Adsorbent Through Cografting of Amine Group

Amidoxime (AO)/amine co-functionalized polypropylene fiber adsorbents were prepared. The all-polymeric structures were characterized by using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), optical microscope, contact angle meter and electron spin resonance (ESR) analysis methods, confirming the grafting, modification, and amidoximation stages gravimetrically, spectroscopically, and visually. The properties for the removal of uranyl(VI) from aqueous solutions were investigated. For amidoxime (AO) fiber, high adsorption rate was observed within the first 30 minutes and the plateau value of 40.6% uranium loading (0.0812 mg/g) was reached at around 30 minutes. The adsorption equilibrium for AO/amine fiber was attained within 20 minutes, resulting in the adsorption of 92.6% uranium loading (0.185 mg/g). The percentage of adsorption increases with increasing pH value (2–6), reaches a maximum at pH 6.0 and then remains almost constant for AO/amine fiber, whereas reduces slightly for AO fiber.     

An Approximate Expression for the Degree of Counterion Binding of Dressed Micelles

A simple formula for calculating the degree of counterion binding of dressed micelles is presented. This approximate expression for the spherical micelle is derived from the extending Langmuir's method in the case of high surface potentials. It works quite well for the estimation of the degree of counterion binding of micelles. The simple form is very convenient for practical use.     

Crosslinked organosiloxane hybrid materials prepared by condensation of silanol and modified silica: Synthesis and characterization

Hybrid materials based on polymethylphenylsiloxane (PMPS) and organic functionalized silica were synthesized via condensation reaction between silanol and alkoxysilyl groups in the presence of quaternary ammonium hydroxide. The structure of prepared materials was investigated by FTIR and NMR, which indicate that the products have incorporated modified silica into the polymer matrix. The prepared hybrid materials show a satisfactory thermal resistance because the initial decomposition of typical product occurred at nearly 100 K higher than that of the pure polymer according to the thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) results. Differential thermogravimetric analysis (DTGA) data confirm that the thermal degradation of prepared hybrid materials comprises of two steps, of which the first one could be controlled by adjusting the content of silica particles and the ratio of surface groups on the particles. The coating films obtained from hybrid products exhibit good thermal mechanical properties. Therefore, the materials are hoped to be used for the application in thermal resistant coating.
