Application of a stereospecific RhCl(PPh3)3 decarbonylation reaction for the total synthesis of 7-(±)-deoxypancratistatin

A highly efficient total synthesis of 7-deoxypancratistatin is described. The synthesis features the ready preparation of the phenanthridone skeleton by a Stille-IMDAF cycloaddition cascade. The resulting cycloadduct is converted into a key aldehydic intermediate, which is then induced to undergo a stereospecific decarbonylation reaction using Wilkinson’s catalyst to set the trans B-C ring junction of the target molecule.     

Optical characteristics of semiconductor saturable absorber mirrors investigated by the reflection Z-scan technique

Recently, the semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM) has become a key component of passive mode-locked solid-state lasers. Here we present a simple method based on the reflection Z-scan technique to measure the key optical parameters of SESAM such as saturation fluence and modulation depth. The experimental results demonstrate that our method is able to perform with a high accuracy of 10⁻⁴ and a dynamic range of over four orders of magnitude.     

Effects of Nb2O5 on thermal stability and optical properties of Er3+-doped tellurite glasses

Er³⁺-doped tellurite glasses with molar compositions of xNb₂O₅-(14.7-x)Na₂O--10ZnO--5K₂O--10GeO₂-- 60TeO₂--0.3Er₂O₃ (x=0, 3, 5, 7 and 9) have been investigated for developing 1.5~μm fibre and planar amplifiers. The effects of Nb₂O₅ on the thermal stability and optical properties of Er³⁺-doped tellurite glasses have been discussed. It is noted that the incorporation of Nb₂O₅ (x=5) increases the thermal stability of tellurite glasses significantly. Er³⁺-doped niobium tellurite glasses exhibit a large stimulated emission cross-section (7.2\times 10^-21- 10.7×10^-21~cm² and the gain bandwidth, FWHM×\sigma_e^{\rm peak} (274\times 10^-28 - 480×10^-28~cm³), which are significantly higher than that of silicate and phosphate glasses. In addition, the intensity of upconversion luminescence of the Er³⁺-doped niobium tellurite glasses decreases rapidly with increasing Nb₂O₅ content. As a result, Er³⁺-doped niobium tellurite glasses might be a potential candidate for developing laser or optical amplifier devices.

C-V法提取SiC隐埋沟道MOSFET沟道载流子浓度

本文对用C-V法提取SiC隐埋沟道MOSFET沟道载流子浓度的方法进行了理论和实验分析. pn结的存在所造成的埋沟MOS结构C-V曲线的畸变为沟道载流子浓度的提取带来一些问题. SiC/SiO₂界面上界面态的存在也会使提取出的数值与实际数值产生偏差. 本文首先从理论上分别分析了沟道深度和界面态对沟道载流子浓度提取结果的影响，然后对两种沟道深度的埋沟MOS结构C-V曲线进行了测试，提取出了沟道掺杂浓度. 在测试中，采用不同的扫描速率，分析了界面态对提取结果的影响. 理论分析结果和实验测 关键词： C-V法 SiC 隐埋沟道MOSFET 沟道载流子浓度     

Study on anti-emission materials for non-emitting grid applications in microwave power tubes

Hafnium and platinum were deposited onto molybdenum grids by ion-beam assisted deposition method. Electron-emission characteristics from molybdenum grids with Hf and Pt films, which were contaminated by active electron-emission substances (Ba, BaO) of the cathode, were measured using analogous diode method. The surfaces of grids were analyzed by X-ray diffraction. The results revealed that the reaction between BaO and Hf formed BaHfO₃ compound, which greatly reduced the accumulation of BaO on the surface and accordingly decreased grid emission. In contrast, Ba were formed by the decomposition of BaO on the surface of Pt film under high temperature and re-evaporated from its surface, which reduced the active electron-emission substances on the surface of the grid and effectively restrained grid emission. Their mechanisms for grid-emission suppression are discussed and a good method to develop new grid-coating materials is suggested.     

Simulation of island aggregation influenced by substrate temperature, incidence kinetic energy and intensity in pulsed laser deposition

Using kinetic Monte Carlo method, we have simulated a pulsed energetic growth process in pulsed laser deposition. During the growth of film, substrate temperature mainly influences upon film morphology by directly enhancing the adatom mobility through the temperature-dependent thermal vibration. By contrast, the effect of incidence kinetic energy on film growth is complex resulting from the collisions between the incident particles and the adatoms. The results show that improving incident kinetic energy cannot significantly accelerate the migration rate of adatom but change surface microstructure and promote single adatom formation resulting in more island aggregation density. Moreover, since pulse-influx characterizes pulsed laser deposition, the intensity per pulse contributes to the evolvement of nucleation density and the results illustrate that a general scaling law different from ordinary power law still exists in energetic growth of pulsed laser deposition.     

Flat-top interleavers with chromatic dispersion compensator based on phase dispersive free space Mach-Zehnder interferometer

In this paper, novel interleavers using circular cavities (CC) in a Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) has been presented and demonstrated for the first time, in which CCs act as phase dispersive mirrors which exhibit a periodic dependence on the frequency of light. Three implementation schemes have been proposed and investigated. Theoretical analysis shows the spectral characteristics of each scheme in a 50-GHz channel spacing application. Furthermore, the chromatic dispersion (CD) of each output comb can be flattened within passband by appending an additional CC. The result shows that the proposed designs with novel interferometer technique can simultaneously provide flat top passbands, high isolation stopband and low CD value as well.     

How to find the Lax pair from the Yang-Baxter equation

We show explicitly how to construct the quantum Lax pair from the Yang-Baxter equation. We demonstrate the new method by applying it to the Heisenberg XYZ model.Supported by DOE contract DE-FG02-88ER25053     

Preparation and Mechanical Properties of Fe3Al Nanostructured Intermetallics

Nanostructured Fe₃Al intermetallic compounds were produced by using hydrogen arc plasma method. The transmission electron microscopy experiments showed that the average particle size of the as-synthesized was about 40-nm. The change in hardness of Fe₃Al nanostructured intermetallic compounds with annealing temperatures was observed and evaluated.
