A new method for the fabrication of arrays of self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of alkane thiols (ATs) on gold to combinatorially assay surfaces for cell adhesion is reported. A fluorous SAM, which is both cytophobic and solvophobic, was used as the background between the array features. The resulting solvophobic background permits the application of an assembly after conjugation strategy for fabrication. SAMs containing mixtures of ATs and peptide-terminated ATs were generated. Multiple cell types demonstrated differential and specific binding to these surfaces. Additionally, pluripotent human embryonic stem cells proliferated on surfaces generated by this method. 相似文献

In this paper, a perfectly matched layer (PML) absorber, recently introduced into the electromagnetic propagation literature by Berenger [J. Comput. Phys. 114, 185-200 (1994)], is adapted for use with both paraxial and wide-angle acoustic parabolic equations (PEs). Our procedure incorporates an imaginary component into the transverse coordinate that mimics the introduction of a fictitious absorber on the edge of the computational grid. Use of such an impedance-matched layer can significantly reduce spurious reflections compared to physical absorbing layer methods and thus allows a smaller number of boundary points to be employed in PE calculations. Numerical results obtained with several higher-order propagator approximations confirm that such impedance-matched absorbers efficiently eliminate reflections. 相似文献

A search for direct CP violation in the nonleptonic decays of hyperons has been performed. In comparing the product of the decay parameters, alpha(Xi)alpha(Lambda), in terms of an asymmetry parameter, A(XiLambda), between hyperons and antihyperons in the charged Xi-->Lambdapi and Lambda-->ppi decay sequence, we found no evidence of direct CP violation. Characterization of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) samples has been performed by laser desorption combined with multi-photon ionization technique using two different geometries of the ionization laser beam. This comparative study evidences the strong influence of ionization laser fluence on PAH fragmentation. Through a ∼103 enlargement of the ionization probe volume and 104 reduction of laser fluence over previous studies, fragment free mass spectra are obtained with higher sensitivity and selectivity. The ability to measure fragment free PAH mass spectra is a very important step in the end goal of measuring complex unknown mixtures of PAH desorbed from solid surface such as soot samples. 相似文献

Self-assembly of thiol-terminated oligonucleotides on gold substrates provides a convenient and versatile route to DNA-functionalised surfaces. Here we show that the square-wave voltammetric peak position of methylene blue complexed to thiol-terminated single-stranded oligonucleotides immobilised on gold electrodes differs from that of methylene blue complexed to thiol-terminated double-stranded oligonucleotides immobilised on gold electrodes. The peak potential of methylene blue at the single-stranded oligonucleotide array was consistently found to occur at potentials ca. 10-15 mV more positive than that at double-stranded oligonucleotide arrays, the precise difference being dependent on the direction of the voltammetry. This voltammetric behaviour mirrors that found for methylene blue bound to freely diffusing single- and double-stranded calf thymus DNA and suggests that the immobilised oligonucleotides retain the methylene blue binding properties of their freely diffusing counterparts. Thus methylene blue provides a simple electrochemical indicator for the status of oligonucleotide-functionalised gold surfaces. 相似文献

A concise asymmetric synthesis of the gastroprokinetic agent (+)-(3S,4R)-cisapride {(+)-(3S,4R)-N(1)-[3′-(4″-fluorophenoxy)propyl]-3-methoxy-4-(2″′-methoxy-4″′-amino-5″′-chlorobenzamido)piperidine} from commercially available starting materials has been developed. The key step of this synthesis employs the diastereoselective conjugate addition of lithium (R)-N-benzyl-N-(α-methylbenzyl)amide to tert-butyl 5-[N-3′-(4″-fluorophenoxy)propyl-N-allylamino]pent-2-enoate and in situ enolate oxidation with (?)-camphorsulfonyloxaziridine to set the (3S,4R)-configuration found within the piperidine ring of the product. This synthesis proceeds in 9 steps from commercially available 1-(4′-fluorophenoxy)-3-bromopropane with an overall yield of 19%. 相似文献
