Synthesis and electrolytic polymerization of the ethylenedioxy-substituted terthiophene-fullerene dyad

[reaction: see text] Two derivatives of ethylenedioxy-substituted terthiophene-fullerene dyads were newly synthesized as the precursors for polythiophene having fullerene side chains. By electrolytic oxidation of dyad 1, the charm-bracelet type polythiophene, poly-1, was obtained as a purple film, which showed electrochemical activity, electrochromism, and photoelectronic response.     

Erythrocyte-like liposomes prepared by means of amphiphilic cyclodextrin sulfates

A novel class of sulfated glycolipids with excellent self-assembling capacity to form stable monolayers at an air-water interface and specific erythrocyte-like liposomes was synthesised from alpha, beta, and gamma-cyclodextrins as starting materials.     

Conserved Quantities and Symmetries Related to Stochastic Dynamical Systems

The present article focuses on the three topics related to the notions of "conserved quantities" and "symmetries" in stochastic dynamical systems described by stochastic differential equations of Stratonovich type. The first topic is concerned with the relation between conserved quantities and symmetries in stochastic Hamilton dynamical systems, which is established in a way analogous to that in the deterministic Hamilton dynamical theory. In contrast with this, the second topic is devoted to investigate the procedures to derive conserved quantities from symmetries of stochastic dynamical systems without using either the Lagrangian or Hamiltonian structure. The results in these topics indicate that the notion of symmetries is useful for finding conserved quantities in various stochastic dynamical systems. As a further important application of symmetries, the third topic treats the similarity method to stochastic dynamical systems. That is, it is shown that the order of a stochastic system can be reduced, if the system admits symmetries. In each topic, some illustrative examples for stochastic dynamical systems and their conserved quantities and symmetries are given.     

Copper(I) nitrile complexes,part III. Reversible olefin complex formation with acetonitrilecopper(I) trifluoromethanesulfonate

Summary Acetonitrilecopper(I) trifluoromethanesulfonate, CuTAN, reversibly forms liquid olefin complexes of composition olefin:CuTAN and olefin: (CuTAN)₂. The complex formation constants of CuTAN with cyclohexene in anisole have been studied based on the observation that CuTAN exists as a dimer in anisole.     

A new electrochemical system for stereoselective allylic hydroxylation of cholesteryl acetate with dioxygen induced by iron picolinate complexes

The oxygenation reaction of cholesteryl acetate 1 was examined with the Fe(III)(PA)(3)/O(2)/MeCN system using an electrochemical method. The constant potential technique gave mainly the 7-hydroxylated product stereoselectively, along with the 7-oxo product. This oxygenation system is mechanistically unique, requiring iron catalyst, dioxygen, and both cathode and anode.
