Fracture strength of class II slot cavities restored with polymerizable restorative materials

This study compared the fracture strength of Class II slot cavities restored with polymerizable restorative materials. Sixty, caries-free, posterior teeth were divided into five groups of 12 teeth. The Class II slot cavities were prepared. The teeth were restored with two packable composites (Filtek P60, Surefil), a microhybrid composite (Filtek Z250)and two ormocer (Definite, Admira). The restorations were then subjected to fracture resistance tests. The marginal ridges of the restorations were loaded at an angle of 13.5° to the long axis of the tooth in an Universal Testing Machine until failure. Analysis of mean forces indicated that, Filtek P60, Surefil and Filtek Z250 exhibited better performance than Definite and Admira. The tested resin composites differed in their mechanical properties. This study suggested that fracture behavior were highly influenced by the filler system. Overall, Filtek P60, Surefil, Filtek Z250, demonstrated good fracture resistance. 乙醇增敏光泽精－H_2O_2－Pb（Ⅱ）化学发光体系的研究及应用

本文研究了Ｈ＿２Ｏ＿２氧化光泽精发光反应及乙醇的敏化作用，发现加入乙醇可使铅催化Ｈ＿２Ｏ＿２，氧化光泽精的发光强度有较大幅度的增强；铅量在３×１０￣（－７）～８×１０￣（－５）ｇ／ｍＬ。范围内与发光强度成正比．方法检出限为０．１０μｇ／ｍＬ；对含４μｇ／ｍＬＰｂ（Ⅱ）１１次重复测定，其ＲＳＤ为２．３％．对３２种常见的阴阳离子进行了干扰实验，表明方法具有较好的选择性。本法应用于水样及沉积物标样中痕量铅的测定，结果良好。     

Gradient- and Sensitivity-Enhanced TOCSY Experiments

A pulsed field gradient version of the sensitivity-enhanced 2D TOCSY experiment is proposed which yields high-quality spectra with improved sensitivity and a minimum of two scans pert₁increment. For rapid acquisition of 1D TOCSY spectra, the 1D DPFGSE–TOCSY experiment was modified to include phase-encoded multiple-selective excitation followed by a simple spectral editing. Combination of these two building blocks is used in a sensitivity-enhanced 2D analog of the 3D TOCSY–TOCSY experiment which provides an efficient tool for resolving severely overlapped signals of oligomers in short experimental time.     

Electrical properties of polypyrrole/p‐InP structure

The polypyrrole/p‐InP structure has been fabricated by the electrochemical polymerization of the organic polypyrrole onto the p‐InP substrate. The current–voltage (I–V), capacitance–voltage (C–V), and capacitance–frequency (C–f) characteristics of the PPy/p‐InP structure have been determined at room temperature. The structure showed nonideal I–V behavior with the ideality factor and the barrier height 1.48 and 0.69 eV respectively. C–f measurements of the structure have been carried out using the Schottky capacitance spectroscopy technique and it has been seen that there is a good agreement between the experimental and theoretical values. Also, it has been seen that capacitance almost show a plateau up to a certain value of frequency, after which, the capacitance decreases. The higher values of capacitance at low frequencies were attributed to the excess capacitance resulting from the interface states in equilibrium with the p‐InP that can follow the a.c. signal. The interface state density N_ss and relaxation time τ of the structure were determined from C–f characteristics. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Preliminary analyses of natural radionuclides in selected Turkish power plant lignites

This preliminary study presents the experimental results concerning the concentrations of selected radionuclides (²³⁸U, ²³²K, ²²⁶Ra, ²³²Th) in Af?in-Elbistan, Çan, Çay?rhan, Erzurum, Göynük, Kangal, Orhaneli, Saray, Seyitömer, Soma, Tunçbilek, Yata?an and Yeniköy lignites, which are primarily utilized as fuel for thermal power plants in Turkey. Gamma-spectrometry of 39 representative lignite samples gave results with the following concentration ranges: 8 to 296 Bq/kg for ²³⁸U, 3 to 79 Bq/kg for ²³²Th, 17 to 360 Bq/kg for 40K, and 5 to 130 Bq/kg for ²²⁶Ra. The ²³⁸U results reported here are higher than other literature values for various world coals, earth's crust and world average.     

Ascorbic acid as a potential masking agent in the tanning process. Olated chromium complexes involving ligating ascorbate and bridging sulfate groups

Two polynuclear complexes, a dimer and a tetramer, involving sulfate and hydroxo bridges and ligating ascorbate were isolated from aqueous solutions. Structural formulae are proposed on the basis of microanalytical and thermal analysis results, i.r., ¹³C-n.m.r., mass spectral data and magnetic measurements.     

Synthese und Geruch von (Z)-Dehydro-homo-β-santalol

Summary Guided by molecular modeling studies, the synthesis of the title compound is described. The organoleptic evaluation proved the predicted real sandal like odour of (Z)-dehydro-homo--santalol.

Spectrophotometric determination of samarium(III) with chrome azurol S in the presence of cetylpyridinium chloride

A sensitive, simple method for the determination of trace amounts of samarium by spectrophotometry is described based on the formation of the samarium-chrome azurol S (CAS) complex in micellar medium. The molar absorptivities of the complexes at pH 7.5 at 505 nm were 3.6x10(4) and 1.4x10(5) l mol(-1) cm(-1) for water media and cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC), respectively. Beer's law is obeyed from 0.05-2 mg l(-1) of samarium at 505 nm as Sm-CAS-CPC complex. Optimal conditions such as reagent amounts, and pH for the samarium determination were reported. The effects of foreign ions were also investigated. The proposed method was successfully applied to the determination of samarium contents in synthetic samples.
