A bellows-shaped fullerene tube is featured by diameter modulation along the tube, where C60 molecules polymerize with tubular linkages between the molecules. The electronic structures of two types of bellows-shaped fullerene tube are theoretically found to exhibit band gaps indicating semiconducting characteristics. Although the effective masses of the conduction states of the two tubes are similar, these states have different spatial distributions. One of the two tubes is expected to exhibit thermally assisted electron transport.  相似文献

The sensitivities of monoclonal antibody-based enzyme immunoassays for 11-deoxycortisol using alkaline phosphatase (AP), horseradish peroxidase (HRP), beta-galactosidase (beta-GAL) and glucose oxidase (GOD) as labels were compared. The anti-11-deoxycortisol antibody used was that produced in ascites by inoculating antibody-secreting hybridoma cells into mice. Enzyme labeling of 11-deoxycortisol was carried out by the N-succinimidyl ester method. The activated ester of 4-(2-carboxyethylthio)-11-deoxycortisol was treated with each enzyme to give a homologous enzyme-labeled antigen. In the competitive immunoassay, the bound and free enzyme-labeled antigens were separated by a double antibody method and the enzymic activity of the immune precipitate was determined by colorimetric and fluorimetric methods. The AP activity was measured in three ways, using p-nitrophenyl phosphate, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP), and 4-methylumbelliferyl phosphate as substrates. o-Nitrophenyl beta-D-galactopyranoside and 4-methylumbelliferyl beta-D-galactopyranoside were used for beta-GAL, and 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) and 3-(p-hydroxyphenyl)propionic acid (HPPA) for HRP. In the case of GOD, TMB and HPPA were used in combination with HRP. A dose-response curve with a high sensitivity was obtained in each 11-deoxycortisol assay system by the use of a minimum amount of the enzyme-labeled antigen at an appropriate dilution of monoclonal anti-11-deoxycortisol antibody (Ka = 2 x 10(10) M-1). The amounts of 11-deoxycortisol needed to displace 50% of the bound label ranged from 5 to 15 pg in the colorimetric methods, and 4-9 pg in the fluorimetric methods.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

A rapid and simple radioactivity determination method has been developed for food and related environmental samples of a radioactivity level corresponding to 5 mrem/y, Japan AEC's guideline, by pretreating with a modified microwave dehydration apparatus followed by radiation counting. An equation to estimate the heating conditions by the apparatus has been derived, and results calculated by the equation are in good agreement with experimental data. It took less than 4.5 hours to dehydrate by the propossed method, and radiation counting could be started on the day of sampling and dehydration procedure. The lower limit of detection for each radionuclide by the proposed method, using a Ge(Li) detector of 20% relative efficiency, is lower than one half of the needed detection limit to determine and evaluate the 5 mrem/y level. Radionuclide levels in food samples such as vegetables and crustaceans were determined by the proposed method and it was found that they were below the lower dection limit of the proposed method except natural radionuclide40K and fallout-originated137Cs.  相似文献

d-Lactic and l-lactic acids were simultaneously determined by means of a column-switching high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with fluorescence detection. As a fluorescence reagent, 4-nitro-7-piperazino-2,1,3-benzoxadiazole (NBD-PZ) was employed for the fluorescence derivatization of lactic acid. The proposed HPLC system adopted both octylsilica (Cadenza CD-C8) and amylose-based chiral columns (CHIRALPAK AD-RH), which proved to give a sufficient enantiomeric separation of the lactic acid derivatives with a separation factor () of 1.32 and a resolution (Rs) of 1.98. Moreover, the features of the first elution of d-lactic acid peak in the proposed HPLC were convenient for the determination of trace amount of serum d-lactic acid, which is known to increase under diabetes. Intra-day and inter-day accuracies were in the range of 90.5–101.2 and 89.0–100.7%, and the intra-day and inter-day precisions were 0.3–1.2 and 0.4–4.8%, respectively. The proposed method was applied to determine d-lactic and l-lactic acids in human serum of normal subjects and diabetic patients, showing that both d-lactic and l-lactic acid concentrations were significantly increased in the serum of diabetic patients (n=31) as compared with normal subjects (n=21). This fact was found for the first time owing to the development of the proposed HPLC method which is able to determine d-lactic and l-lactic acid simultaneously. Finally, serum d-lactic acid concentrations determined by the proposed HPLC method were compared with those from a reported enzymatic assay, and the smaller p value between normal subjects and diabetic patients was shown by the proposed HPLC method.  相似文献

Treatment of 5-monosubstituted Meldrum's acids with dimethylmethyleneimmonium iodide (Eschenmoser's iodide salt) in methanol gives alpha-substituted acrylate methyl esters in good yields. Easy access to 5-monosubstituted Meldrum's acids allowed us to synthesize a wide variety of alpha-substituted acrylate methyl esters. The reaction conditions are mild and tolerate many functional groups commonly used in organic synthesis; thus, this new method has potential as an alternative to conventional preparative methods for alpha-substituted acrylate esters.  相似文献

An extensive study of the radiation resistance of microbial species constituting the bioburden of a number of different medical devices obtained from Japanese medical device manufacturers has been carried out. A standard protocol for determining radiation resistance was used and validated at the fourteen centres involved in the study. Individual microbial isolates from the bioburden obtained from seven different devices manufactured in these centres were studied. A total of 3742 unselected isolates were obtained, of which 197 failed to survive long enough for subsequent radiation resistance studies. The remainder were subjected to an initial screen test to identify those organisms that were sensitive to the lethal effects of radiation with a D10 of < 1.5kGy. The 465 isolates that survived the screen doses were then tested for survival in an incremental series of radiation doses using methods similar to those of Whitby (1979) and Yan and Tallentire(1995). The isolates from “dry” devices were more resistant than those obtained from the one water filled (“wet”) device studied. The overall distribution of radiation resistance among the isolates was considered to be similar to that forming the “Standard Distribution of Resistance” (SDR) included in the ISO International Standard 11137 “Sterilization of Health Care Products — Requirements for validation and routine control — Radiation sterilization”.  相似文献

Heteroleptic zinc(II) complexes synthesized using achiral dipyrrinato and chiral bis(oxazoline) ligands show bright fluorescence with quantum efficiencies of up to 0.70. The fluorescence originates from the 1π–π* photoexcited state localized exclusively on the dipyrrinato ligand. Furthermore, the luminescence is circularly polarized despite the achirality of the dipyrrinato ligand. Single‐crystal X‐ray structure analysis discloses that the chiral bis(oxazoline) ligand undergoes intramolecular π–π stacking with the dipyrrinato ligand, inducing axial chirality in the dipyrrinato moiety.  相似文献
