That boronic acid is a reactive species toward a diol moiety even in an alkaline solution and that the boronate ion is not very reactive were demonstrated by the estimated upper limit of the rate constants for the reactions of some boronic acids with 2,2'-biphenol and 2,3-dihydroxynaphthalene in a neutral-alkaline solution, which will correct a common misunderstanding in boron chemistry and would renew the idea of effective boronic acid sensor design for carbohydrates.  相似文献

We demonstrate a remarkable thickness dependence of nonlinear optical response of exciton–polaritons in GaAs thin films by degenerate four-wave mixing (DFWM) at low temperature (T=5 K). High-quality samples of layer thickness from 80 to 200 nm were grown by molecular beam epitaxy. Confined mode of the exciton–polariton dominantly contributed to the reflection spectra, which were examined by the calculation using a transfer matrix method. The DFWM intensity at exciton resonance was enhanced at a particular thickness (110 nm). This thickness dependence is in good agreement with the nonlocal theory, which shows a remarkable size dependence of the internal field relevant to the confined mode of the exciton–polaritons.  相似文献

Radiative lifetime of an exciton in a GaAs quantum well (QW) is controlled by high-density excitons, which restrict the exciton coherence through scattering. In order to circumvent the phase space filling effect of high-density excitons, we have prepared a QW structure in such a way that a reservoir for high-density excitons is separated from the QW. The lifetime increases (up to 30%) with the exciton density in the reservoir and saturates at 1×1017/cm3. The upper bound lifetime is determined by the excitonic relative motion.  相似文献

Polystyrene core nanosphere particles possessing 2‐methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine (MPC) polymers on the corona were prepared by the free radical polymerization of hydrophilic polyMPC macromonomer and hydrophobic styrene with AIBN as a radical initiator in ethanol as a polar solvent. The morphology of the nanospheres was observed by transmission electron micrograph (TEM). The nanospheres were spherical in form and have a narrow size distribution. Their sizes could be controlled by varying the molecular weight of the macromonomer and the amount of it in feed. Electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis (ESCA) of the nanosphere surfaces suggested that polyMPC chains were located favorably on the surface of the nanosphere. The nanospheres having the polyMPC chains on their surfaces can be significant and useful materials in technological and medical fields. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. During the screening of novel chemotherapeutic candidates from plants against adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma, we identified that the extracts of Thuja occidentalis (Cupressaceae) showed potent anti-proliferative activity in MT-1 and MT-2 cells. Therefore, we attempted to isolate the active components from this plant. We isolated and identified 32 compounds (1–32; eight lignans, 18 terpenoids, and six flavonoids) from the extracts of the leaves and cones. Their structures were determined by spectroscopic analysis. Several of the isolated compounds inhibited the growth of both cell lines. Lignans showed more potent activity than other classes of compounds. A comparison of the activities of compounds 1–8 revealed that the presence of a trans-lactone (linkage of C-6 to C-7) correlated with increased activity. Diterpenes showed moderate activity, and the presence of a ketone moiety at the C-7 position correlated with increased activity in compounds 12–21. In addition, biflavones showed moderate activity, and the presence of methoxy functions appeared to influence the activity of these compounds. Several lignans were lead compound of anti-cancer reagent (etoposide). In conclusion, not only lignans, but also diterpenes and/or biflavones, may be promising candidates for the treatment of adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma.  相似文献

Novel materials and a metallization technique for the printed electronics were studied. Insulator inks and conductive inks were investigated. For the conductive ink, the nano-sized copper particles were used as metallic sources. These particles were prepared from a copper complex by a laser irradiation process in the liquid phase. Nano-sized copper particles were consisted of a thin copper oxide layer and a metal copper core wrapped by the layer. The conductive ink showed good ink-jettability. In order to metallize the printed trace of the conductive ink on a substrate, the atomic hydrogen treatment was carried out. Atomic hydrogen was generated on a heated tungsten wire and carried on the substrate. The temperature of the substrate was up to 60 °C during the treatment. After the treatment, the conductivity of a copper trace was 3 μΩ cm. It was considered that printed wiring boards can be easily fabricated by employing the above materials.  相似文献

N2 adsorption isotherms of molecular sieve carbon were measured at 77 K and 303 K. The Ar adsorption isotherms of molecular sieve carbon samples were also measured at 303 K. The grand canonical Monte Carlo (GCMC) simulation technique was applied to calculate the N2 and Ar adsorption isotherms at 303 K using the ultramicropore volume determined by H2O adsorption. The comparative method of experimental and simulated isotherms of supercritical N2 and Ar at 303 K gave the width of the micropore mouth of the molecular sieve carbon, which can be applied to the ultramicropore width determination for other noncrystalline porous solids.  相似文献
