The electronic structures of a series of DNA nucleobases and their dinucleotides were investigated by N 1s X-ray absorption, X-ray photoemission, and resonant X-ray emission spectroscopy. Resonant X-ray emission spectra of the guanine base and its dinucleotide indicate that it has a weak structure at the lowest binding energy; at this energy, it isolates from the main valence band and forms the HOMO state. This indicates that the HOMO state is localized in the guanine base, as claimed by valence and core photoemissions and expected from theoretical predictions. In addition, the XAS and XES profiles of the guanine dinucleotide indicate that disruption of the aromatic character of the six-membered ring results in the localization of the pi state at the imine (-N=) site of the guanine base; this may favor charge transfer among stacked guanine bases and further influence the conductivity of DNA.  相似文献

Poly(p-benzamide)s 1 bearing a chiral side chain on the nitrogen atom were synthesized by chain-growth polycondensation methodology. The polyamides exhibited well-defined molecular weights with narrow polydispersities. Solutions of the polyamides in several organic solvents (CH(3)CN, CHCl(3), and CH(3)OH) showed dispersion type CD signals characteristic of coupled-oscillator and much larger as compared with the corresponding monomer. The CD signals were dependent on the temperature and molecular weight of the polyamides but independent of the solvent, as far as examined. An exciton model analysis of the absorption and CD spectra provided a clear-cut picture for the secondary structure of these polyamides in solution that the N-alkylated poly(p-benzamide)s possess a right-handed helical conformation ((P)-helix). In the solid states, the results of X-ray crystallographic analysis of 4-(methylamino)benzoic acid oligomers substantiated that they have a helical conformation with three monomer units per turn.  相似文献

Cyclic ethers such as trioxane and 3,3-bis(chloromethyl)oxetane have been polymerized easily in the presence of maleic anhydride by the irradiation of γ-rays and ultraviolet light. The polymer formed is a homopolymer of cyclic ether. The rate of polymerization is accelerated by suitable amounts of oxygen which is required to form some active species at the initiation step. The polymerization is inhibited by the addition of a small amount of radical scavenger, thus suggesting a radical initiating mechanism. In addition, the polymerization is easily initiated by benzoyl peroxide even in vacuo at or above 50°C. Diaroyl and diacyl peroxides are also effective, and polymerization also proceeds in the presence of chloromaleic anhydride, exactly in the same manner as in maleic anhydride. On the other hand, it is well known that polymerization of these cyclic monomers rarely occurs with radical catalysts and easily with cationic catalysts in the absence of maleic anhydride. From these results, it may be concluded that the polymerization is brought about by means of a radical–cationic species.  相似文献

We consider the coupling of the electromagnetic vacuum field with an oscillating perfectly-reflecting mirror in the nonrelativistic approximation. As a consequence of the frequency modulation associated to the motion of the mirror, low frequency photons are generated. We calculate the photon emission rate by following a nonperturbative approach, in which the coupling between the field sidebands is taken into account. We show that the usual perturbation theory fails to account correctly for the contribution of TM-polarized vacuum fluctuations that propagate along directions nearly parallel to the plane surface of the mirror. As a result of the modification of the field eigenfunctions, the resonance frequency for photon emission is shifted from its unperturbed value.  相似文献

A polymer with many pendent galactose residues was prepared by atom-transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of galactose-carrying vinyl monomer, 2-lactobionamidoethyl methacrylate (LAMA), with a disulfide-carrying ATRP initiator, 2-(2'-bromoisobutyroyl)ethyl disulfide (DT-Br). The galactose-carrying polymer obtained (DT-PLAMA) was accumulated as a polymer brush via Au-S bond on a colloidal gold monolayer deposited on a cover glass. For comparison, a disulfide which carried one galactose residue at both ends (2-lactobionamidoethyl disulfide, Cys-Lac) was accumulated as a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) on the colloidal gold monolayer, too. The association and dissociation processes of galactose residues on the colloidal gold with a lectin, Ricinus communis agglutinin (RCA(120)), were observed by the increase and decrease in absorbance at 550nm corresponding to localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) phenomena. The Cys-Lac SAM-carrying glass chip showed a strong non-specific adsorption of the lectin, whereas the DT-PLAMA brush-carrying one reversibly associated with the lectin, indicating reusability of the latter device. The apparent association constant of the lectin with the galactose residues in the DT-PLAMA brush was much larger than the association constant for free galactose, and the detection limit of RCA(120) by the glycopolymer brush-modified device was satisfactorily low. Furthermore, a microscopic observation clearly indicated that the DT-PLAMA brush could reversibly associate with a HepG2 cell having galactose receptors, though these processes could not be observed spectrophotometrically due to a gigantic size of the cell.  相似文献
