Elevated heart rate has been proposed as an independent risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, but their interrelationships are not well understood. In this study, we performed a genome-wide linkage scan in 1,026 individuals (mean age 30.6 years, 54.5% women) from 73 extended families of Mongolia and determined quantitative trait loci that influence heart rate. The DNA samples were genotyped using deCODE 1,039 microsatellite markers for 3 cM density genome-wide linkage scan. Correlation analysis was carried out to evaluate the correlation of the covariates and the heart rate. T-tests of the heart rate were also performed on sex, smoking and alcohol intake. Consequently, this model was used in a nonparametric genome-wide linkage analysis using variance component model to create a multipoint logarithm of odds (LOD) score and a corresponding P value. In the adjusted model, the heritability of heart rate was estimated as 0.32 (P<.0001) and a maximum multipoint LOD score of 2.03 was observed in 77 cM region at chromosome 18. The second largest LOD score of 1.52 was seen on chromosome 5 at 216 cM. Genes located on the specified locations in chromosomes 5 and 18 may be involved in the regulation of heart rate.  相似文献

We present the effects of oxygen on the irreversible bonding of a microchannel using an ultraviolet (UV) curable material of polyurethane acrylate (PUA). Microchannels were fabricated by bonding a top layer with impressions of a microfluidic channel and a bottom layer consisting of a PUA coating on a glass or a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film substrate. The resulting channel is a homogeneous conduit of the PUA material. To find optimal bonding conditions, the bottom layer was cured under different oxygen concentration and UV exposure time at a constant UV intensity (10 mW cm(-2)). Our experimental and theoretical studies revealed that the channel bonding is severely affected by the concentration of oxygen either in the form of trapped air or permeated air out of the channel. In addition, an optimal UV exposure time is needed to prevent clogging or non-bonding of the channel.  相似文献

We report the room-temperature ferromagnetism in transition metals (Co, Ni)-doped 8-hydroxy-quinoline aluminum (Alq3) by thermal coevaporation of high purity metal and Alq3 powders. For 5% Co-doped Alq3, a maximum magnetization of approximately 0.33 microB/Co at 10 K was obtained and ferromagnetic behavior was observed up to 300 K. The Co atoms interact chemically with O atoms and provide electrons to Alq3, forming new states acting as electron trap sites. From this, it is suggested that ferromagnetism may be associated with the strong chemical interaction of Co atoms and Alq3 molecules.  相似文献

An indenofluorene‐based copolymer containing blue‐, green‐, and red light‐emitting moieties was synthesized by Suzuki polymerization and examined for application in white organic light‐emitting diodes (WOLEDs). Tetraoctylindenofluorene (IF), 2,1,3‐benzothiadiazole (BT), and 4,7‐bis(2‐thienyl)‐2,1,3‐benzothiadiazole (DBT) derivatives were used as the blue‐, green‐, and red‐light emitting structures, respectively. The number‐average molecular weight of the polymer was determined to be 25,900 g/mol with a polydispersity index of 2.02. The polymer was thermally stable (Td = ~398 °C) and quite soluble in common organic solvents, forming an optical‐quality film by spin casting. The EL characteristics were fine‐tuned from the single copolymer through incomplete fluorescence energy transfer by adjusting the composition of the red/green/blue units in the copolymer. The EL device using the indenofluorene‐based copolymer containing 0.01 mol % BT and 0.02 mol % DBT units ( PIF‐BT01‐DBT02 ) showed a maximum brightness of 4088 cd/m2 at 8 V and a maximum current efficiency of 0.36 cd/A with Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage (CIE) coordinates of (0.34, 0.32). The EL emission of PIF‐BT01‐DBT02 was stable with respect to changes in voltage. The color emitted was dependent on the thickness of the active polymer layer; layer (~60 nm) too thin was unsuitable for realizing WOLED via energy transfer. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Herein, we report the fabrication of glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) polymeric conjugates of shortened multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (sMWCNT). The synthesis method involves the attachment of initiator on the surface of nanotubes followed by surface initiated atom transfer radical polymerization (SI‐ATRP) of GMA from the initiator‐bound sMWCNT surface. This is achieved by the procedure consisting of three important steps: introduction of amino groups onto the sMWCNT and attachment of polymerization initiator, 2‐bromo‐2‐methylpropinonyl bromide, and polymerization of GMA. The structure and properties of the resultant polymeric conjugates were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR) spectroscopy, Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and SEM. The FT‐IR analysis of polymeric conjugates shows infrared (IR) peaks characteristic of GMA. A simple and rapid HPLC method using fluorescence detection was developed for determination of irbesartan in human plasma. Sample preparation was accomplished through a simple deproteinization procedure with 0.4 mL of acetonitrile containing 800 ng/mL of losartan (internal standard), and to a 0.1 mL plasma sample. Chromatographic separation was performed on a Zorbax Xclipse XDB C18 column (150 × 4.6 mm, i.d., 5 µm) at 40°C. An isocratic mobile phase, acetonitrile:0.1% formic acid (37:63, v/v), was run at a flow‐rate of 1.0 mL/min, and the column eluent was monitored using a fluorescence detector set at excitation and emission wavelengths of 250 and 370 nm, respectively. The retention times of irbesartan and losartan were 4.4 and 5.9 min, respectively. This assay was linear over a concentration range of 10–5000 ng/mL with a lower limit of quantification of 10 ng/mL. The coefficient of variation for this assay precision was less than 8.48%, and the accuracy exceeded 94.4%. The mean relative recoveries of irbesartan and losartan were 98.4 and 99.1%, respectively. It would be preferable for pesticide residues substituted by hydrolyzable functionality to be analyzed after cooking because their structures are apt to degrade during boiling and/or heating. A liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC‐MS/MS) method for the quantitative determination of 44 pesticide residues with hydrolyzable functional group in five typical vegetable widely consumed in Republic of Korea is described. The sample clean‐up was carried out according to the method of Food Code No. 83 established by the Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA). Zorbox XDB‐C18 column was selected for the analysis because of the best peak separation. The LC mobile phase consisted of water and 5 mm methanolic ammonium formate, which resulted in a peak shape with good symmetry at each run. Tandem mass spectroscopic (MS/MS) experiments were performed in ESI positive mode and the multiple reaction monitoring modes.
