Experimental results on some characteristics of high multiplicity (≧45) proton-AgBr interactions at 800 GeV are presented. The results are compared with those in lower multiplicity regions as well as for CNO target. The various parameters investigated here are pseudorapidity distribution, mean normalised multiplicity, mean number of intranuclear collisions and normalised pseudorapidity.  相似文献

A novel electrorheological (ER) effect is presented where the application of an electric field, orthogonal to the vorticity-flow plane, increases the critical hydrodynamic stress required to shear thicken concentrated, colloidal dispersions (the E-FiRST effect). The shear thickening behavior of a Brownian charge stabilized dispersion (226 nm silica in 4-methylcyclohexanol at 53, 50. and 41 vol.%) is studied in the presence of an electric field as a function of the field strength and coupling parameter ( ß) where the latter is a function of a.c. field frequency due to diffusion limitations on the polarization of the particles' double layer. A mechanism is proposed whereby the applied electric field suppresses the formation of the self-organized hydrocluster microstructure responsible for shear thickening, thus delaying the onset of shear thickening to higher applied shear stresses. A Mason-number type scaling law is found to scale the effect, which supports the proposed mechanism.  相似文献

Some 6‐disubstituted, 8‐disubstituted, and/6,8‐disubstituted compounds have been prepared from coumarin, 7‐methylcoumarin, and 3,4‐benzocoumarin. The Reimer–Tiemann reaction, Lederer–Manasse reaction, bromination using molecular bromine as well as 2,4,4,6‐tetrabromocyclohex‐2,5‐dien‐1‐one, Elbs reaction, and diazocoupling have been carried under controlled conditions to obtain various derivatives. Further, several reactions of aldehyde derivatives of these coumarins have been carried on to prepare important functional compounds including some heterocycles. It is noteworthy that these aldehydes behave as phenolic aldehydes under alkaline conditions to undergo the Dakin reaction. The reactions are mostly carried in aqueous media involving a dianionic intermediate and hence fulfill one important criterion of green chemistry.  相似文献

It is difficult to determine a chemical inhibitor's binding site in multiprotein mixtures, particularly when high-resolution structural studies are not straightforward. Building upon previous research involving photo-cross-linking and the use of mixtures of stable isotopes, we report a method, Stable Isotope Labeled Inhibitors for Cross-linking (SILIC), for mapping a small molecule inhibitor's binding site in its target protein. In SILIC, structure-activity relationship data is used to design inhibitor analogues that incorporate a photo-cross-linking group along with either natural or 'heavy' stable isotopes. An equimolar mixture of these inhibitor analogues is cross-linked to the target protein to yield a robust signature for identifying inhibitor-modified peptide fragments in complex mass spectrometry data. As a proof of concept, we applied this approach to an ATP-competitive inhibitor of kinesin-5, a widely conserved motor protein required for cell division and an anticancer drug target. This analysis, along with mutagenesis studies, suggests that the inhibitor binds at an allosteric site in the motor protein.  相似文献

Abstract

Chitosan (CS) is being used for fabrication of low cost, biocompatible materials that have applicability in fields such as agriculture, biotechnology and environment. In Environmental research, one of the applications of CS based hydrogel composites are in form of biosorbents for eviction of toxic dyes, heavy metals and nutrients from effluent streams. The adsorption potential could be attributed to the reactive functional groups existing on the surface of CS. CS based materials can also be employed for oil/water separation, as a fertilizer carrier, in Microbial fuel cells as Electrolyte membrane and as Electrochemical/Biosensors for detecting and analyzing few environmental pollutants such as pesticides. The earlier review papers on the subject matter have concentrated mainly on dye and heavy metal removal without giving details of its utility in the field of electrochemistry and agriculture. Though the biopolymer holds numerous applications, it has not been discussed extensively. Thus, an attempt has been made to elucidate the current and potential applications of CS hydrogels and composites based on the efficacy it has shown in areas of removal of organic and inorganic contaminants such as dyes, heavy metals and nutrients, in agriculture, oil and water separation, Microbial Fuel cells and Electrochemical/Biosensors.

A perturbation theory of polar hard Gaussian overlap fluid mixture is discussed. Explicit analytic expressions for the second and third varial coefficients are given. Numerical results are estimated for the thermodynamic properties of quadrupolar hard Gaussian overlap fluid and fluid mixture. Silver nanosized crystallites have been synthesized in aqueous and polyols viz., ethylene glycol and glycerol, using a microwave technique. Dispersions of colloidal silver have been prepared by the reduction of silver nitrate both in the presence and absence of stabilizer poly(vinylpyrolidone) (PVP). It was observed that PVP is capable of complexing and stabilizing Ag nanoparticles formed through the reduction of Ag+ ions in water and ethylene glycol. In the case of ethylene glycol, it has been shown that the use of PVP leads to particles with a high degree of stability. The colloids are stable in glycerol for months even in the absence of stabilizer.  相似文献

Assuming the validity of the universal multiplicity hypothesis of quantum chromodynamics, we estimate bounds on quark gluon coupling (αS) and quark mass (m) from the experimental data on charged hadron multiplicities. We obtain 0.3 < αS < 0.5 and m ≈ 100 MeV. Our analysis also suggests the universal quark confinement region to be ≈ O (mπ?1). Comparison with experiment is made for both the hadronic and leptonic induced reactions.  相似文献

The relaxation behavior of nylon 6 from 4.2 to 300°K was investigated as a function of orientation, anisotropy and moisture content by using an inverted free-oscillating torsion pendulum. Three new relaxations, δ at 53°K, ? below 4.2°K, and ζ at 20°K, were discovered. The characteristics of these new relaxations strongly depend on the orientation anisotropy, and concentration of adsorbed water in the specimens. The results suggest that the mechanism of the γ process is associated with the motions of both the polar and methylene units. The mechanism of the β relaxation is postulated to originate with motions of both non-hydrogen-bonded polar groups and polymer—water complex units. The behavior of the α peak is consistent with the hypothesis that it originates with the rupture of interchain hydrogen bonding due to the motions of long-chain segments in the amorphous regions. Finally, the data strongly support the proposition that two types of water, tightly bound and loosely bound, exist in nylon 6.  相似文献
