An ab initio molecular orbital calculation has been carried out for three different conformations of 1,3 propanediol, one of which permits intramolecular H-bond studied by ab initio quantum mechanical methods. The reaction between PW9O349- and NpO2+ has yielded the first structurally characterized neptunyl(V) polyoxometalate complex, [Na2(NpO2)2(A-PW9O34)2]14-. This complex is isostructural with the uranyl(VI) analogue, and there is also spectroscopic evidence for its existence in solution. The complex is readily extracted into toluene, and this may have significance in the sequestering and/or separation of the neptunyl ion in terms of nuclear waste management. 相似文献

The distribution of ozonide and oligomeric structures formed on complete ozonolysis of alkenes in a non-participating solvent at -60 degrees C is governed by the alkyl substitution around the carbon-carbon double bond. The ozonolysis of a 1,1-alkyl substituted ethene generally favours the formation of an ozonide (a 1,2,4-trioxolane). Whereas the ozonolysis of a 1,1,2-alkyl substituted ethene also produces ozonide, a considerable amount of the ozonised products are oligomeric in nature. For example, the ozonolysis of 3-methylpent-2-ene in solution to high conversion in pentane yields oligomers with structural units derived from the fragmentation products of the primary ozonide (a 1,2,3-trioxolane) which are namely butanone carbonyl oxide and acetaldehyde; these can be characterised by electrospray ionisation mass spectroscopy (ESI-MS) under soft ionisation conditions. The predominant oligomers formed are rich in carbonyl oxide units (80 + mol%) and are cyclic in nature. A small proportion of the oligomers formed are open chain compounds with end groups that suggest that chain termination is brought about either by water or by hydrogen peroxide. Residual water in the solvent will react with the carbonyl oxides to produce 2-methoxybut-2-yl hydroperoxide, which we propose readily decomposes generating hydrogen peroxide. A significant yield of oligomers also is obtained from the ozonolysis of a 1,2-alkyl substituted ethene. The ozonolysis of trans-hex-2-ene in pentane yields oligomers containing up to four structural units and are predicted to be mainly cyclic. 相似文献

Ab initio calculations were carried out to study the potential energy surface of (H3C? H? CH3)?. The 6–31G* basis set is supplemented by a set of diffuse p functions on both C and H (with a range of exponents for the latter). The binding energy of CH4 and CH3? to form the (H3CH? CH3)? complex is about 2 kcal/mol, much smaller than for comparable ionic H-bonded systems involving O or N atoms. Nearly half of this interaction energy is due to correlation effects, computed at second and third orders of Møller-Plesset perturbation theory. Correlation is also responsible for substantial reductions in the energy barrier to proton transfer within the complex. This barrier is computed to be 13?15 kcal/mol at the MP3 level, depending upon the exponent used for the H p functions. 相似文献

A series of phenylated dihydrophthalimides has been synthesized by the Diels-Alder reaction of tetraphenylcyclopentadienone with maleimide, N-phenylmaleimide, and N,N'-o-, -m-, and -p-phenylenedimaleimide. Subsequent dehydrogenation of these compounds yielded the corresponding phenylated phthalimides. Calculations were performed to investigate the reliabilities of the CNDO/2, PRDDO, and MNDO approximate molecular orbital methods. Systems selected for study included the linear, cyclic, and bifurcated dimers of water as well as the linear and cyclic dimers of HCN. The PRDDO method was found to provide the most consistently accurate reproduction of ab initio and experimental data. CNDO/2 performed fairly well in a number of cases but yielded extremely poor results for the cyclic dimers of both H2O and HCN. Hydrogen bond strengths were consistently underestimated by MNDO which also furnished erroneously large intermolecular separations. In addition, MNDO calculations indicate the bifurcated water dimer to be most stable in contrast to other quantum mechanical and experimental information.See Ref. [1] for Paper 1 of this series. 相似文献

Ozonolysis of tetramethylethylene: characterization of cyclic and open-chain oligoperoxidic products
The ozonolysis of tetramethylethylene (TME) in solution to high conversion in nonparticipating solvents at -60 degrees C yields predominantly oligoperoxides. For the first time, these products have been characterized using electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) under soft ionization conditions. The predominant structure formed in reactions carried out in pentane (up to 2.0 M TME) is shown to be the cyclic hexamer of acetone carbonyl oxide (oligocarbonyl oxide with degree of polymerization, n = 6), but cyclic structures with n up to 19 are observed. A small proportion of the oligoperoxides formed are open-chain compounds with end groups that suggest that chain termination of oligocarbonyl oxides can occur through reaction with either water or hydrogen peroxide. Ozonolysis in dried butyl acetate similarly produces mainly cyclic oligoperoxides. However, ozonolyses carried out in undried butyl acetate yield mainly open-chain oligoperoxides, confirming that propagating carbonyl oxide chains are readily terminated by water. Relative amounts of the open-chain oligomers so-formed suggest that undried butyl acetate contains ca. 0.1% w/w water. The ozonolysis of TME in the participating solvent, methanol, at -60 degrees C yields 2-methoxyprop-2-yl hydroperoxide via reaction of acetone carbonyl oxide with methanol; no oligoperoxidic products are formed in this case. 相似文献

We observe the spontaneous formation of path-dependent monodisperse and polydisperse phospholipid unilamellar vesicles (ULV) from two different equilibrium morphologies specifically, disklike micelles and extended lamellae, respectively. On heating beyond a temperature Tc, low temperature disklike micelles, or so-called bicelles, transform into lamellae. Dilution of the lamellar phase, at a fixed temperature, results in a complete unbinding transition and the formation of polydisperse ULV, demonstrating the instability of the lamellar phase. On the other hand, heating of a dilute bicellar phase above Tc results in monodisperse ULV, which on cooling revert back to bicelles for lipid concentrations phi > or = 0.5 wt % and transform into oblate ellipsoids for phi = 0.1 wt %, a morphology not previously seen in "bicellar" lipid mixtures. The leaves of some plants, particularly among the Solanacea, contain crystals of calcium oxalate with a peculiar chiral pseudo‐tetrahedral morphology, even though the calcium oxalate crystal structure is centrosymmetric, hence achiral. We studied the morphology of these crystals extracted from the leaves of three Solanacea plants: the potato, the hot pepper, and a species of wild Solanum. The crystal morphology was the same in all three species. Based on the examination of more than 100 crystals from each plant, we showed that the crystal morphology is chiral with invariant chirality. We suggest that morphological chirality is induced by macromolecules during nucleation from a specific, genetically encoded crystal plane, and is further established during subsequent controlled crystal growth. This is one of few examples where it is possible to deduce a molecular mechanism for biologically induced breaking of morphological symmetry in organisms. A very high level of recognition is required by the macromolecules to allow them to distinguish between symmetry‐related crystal planes. It is also surprising that this finely controlled mechanism of crystal formation, including the chiral morphology, has been conserved during evolution. 相似文献

X-ray diffraction analysis reveals the thiogermanic acid H(4)Ge(4)S(10) possesses discrete adamantane-like Ge(4)S(10)(4)(-) complex anions. Each thioanion is composed of four corner shared GeS(2.5)(-) tetrahedral units. Crystals were grown from anhydrous liquid hydrogen sulfide reactions with glassy germanium sulfide at room temperature. The crystal structure was solved and refined from single crystal diffractometer data (Mo Kalpha radiation) obtained at 173 K. H(4)Ge(4)S(10) is triclinic, centrosymmetric space group Ponemacr;, with a = 8.621(4) A, b = 9.899(4) A, c = 10.009(4) A, alpha = 85.963(7) degrees, beta = 64.714(7) degrees, gamma = 89.501(8) degrees, and Z = 2. Average bridging and terminal d(Ge-S) distances are 2.229 and 2.206 A, respectively. Vibrational mode assignments are reported from Raman scattering and IR absorption spectra of polycrystalline samples. The nu(s)(Ge-S-Ge) and nu(s)(Ge-S(-)) stretching modes are observed at 354 and 405 cm(-)(1), respectively. 相似文献
