From an investigation of the ICD of bilatrienes-abc and 2,3-dihydrobilatrienes-abc induced by mixtures of CCl₄ with (+)-cis-Pinane, (–)-lactic and (+)-tartaric acid esters it is concluded that specific interactions between chromophore and the chiral reagents afford a partial resolution of the labile racemate of helices. Attaching chiral residues covalently to the chromophore induces very low resolution of the same kind in case of apolar ligands like a cholesteryl-residue. However, with polar ligands as in the case ofBoc-lysyl derivatives enantiomeric excesses up to 90% are achieved depending on the solvent used.

Synthesis and reactions of 2-(alkylthio)-4,4-dimenthyl-1,3-thiazole-5(4H)-thiones

Six 2-(alkylthio)-substituted 4,4-dimethyl-1,3-thiazole-5(4H)-thiones were synthesized according to a new method. The reactions of these compounds with allyl- and benzyllithium reagents, 1,3-dipoles, and dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate proceeded in a similar manner to 2-alkyl-substituted analogues, while methyllithium reacted in a different way yielding trithio-orthoester derivatives.     

UV-VIS and CD-spectroscopic investigations of intermolecular interactions of bile pigments with small proteins

Summary The intermolecular complex formation of bilirubin and biliverdin with two proteins (basic pancreatic trypsin inhibitor and lysozyme) were studied by optical and chiroptical methods. Evidence for specific intermolecular interactions of biliverdin with both proteins was found. Bilirubin forms a soluble complex only with lysozyme.

UV-VIS und CD-spektroskopische Untersuchungen intermolekularer Wechselwirkungen von Gallenpigmenten mit kleinen Proteinen

Zusammenfassung Die intermolekulare Komplexbildung von Bilirubin und Biliverdin mit zwei Proteinen (basischer pankreatischer Trypsininhibitor und Lysozym) wurden mittels optischer und chiroptischer Spektroskopie untersucht. Für Biliverdin konnten intermolekulare Wechselwirkungen mit beiden Proteinen nachgewiesen werden. Bilirubin bildet nur mit Lysozym einen löslichen Komplex.

     

The molecular and crystal structures of two diastereomeric 3,4-dihydropyrromethenones

The molecular and crystal structures of the two racemic diastereomeric 3,4-dihydropyrromethenone derivatives1 and2 of configurations (Z) and (E) were determined at 93 K (1, 2) and at room temperature (1). From an analysis of the crystallographically observed temperature coefficients a pseudorotation flexibility of the pyrrolidinone ring in the crystal is deduced. In both compounds a nearly orthogonal arrangement between the two heterocyclic ring systems is observed, which is ascribed to the steric bulk of the substituents in positions 1 and 3 of the pyrrolidinone ring.Herrn Prof.Josef Schurz zum 60. Thermal synthesis of the optical pure pentapeptide derivative Z-(L)-Ala-(L)-Phe-Gly-(L)-Phe-Gly-OMe

The pentapeptide Z-(L)-Ala-(L)-Phe-Gly-(L)-Phe-Gly-OMe was obtained by reacting the activated dipeptide derivative Z-(L)-Ala-(L)-Phe-OPcp with the amino peptide derivative TFA·H-Gly-(L)-Phe-Gly-OMe at 100–105°C under reduced pressure (10^?2-10-^?3 Torr) without using solvents. The product obtained by bulk condensation showed no racemization, whereas the product obtained by a matrix mediated condensation contained 5,5 % diastereomer Z-(L)-Ala-(D)-Phe-Gly-(L)-Phe-Gly-OMe. Separation of diastereomers was achieved by HPLC on a silicagel column.     

Über einige neue Bispirane

We have obtained four new bispirane systems in which both spiroatoms are vicinal atoms in cyclopropane or cyclobutane rings and in which the heterocyclic component has the basic structure of 1,4-dioxep-2-ene. We have shown that from two possibilities (bispiran, propellan) the general reaction leads only to a bispiran system. To the bispiran2 exhibiting the highest hyperchromism we ascribed the bispirocoplanar conformation (Fig. 1).

Effects of <Emphasis Type="Italic">L</Emphasis>-Carnitine on Sucrose-Induced Hyperlipidaemia

Summary. L-Carnitine, L-(−)-β-hydroxy-γ-trimethylaminobutyrate, plays an important role as a factor necessary for the transport of long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria. In order to investigate the influence of L-carnitine on hyperlipidaemias, the experimental model of the sucrose-induced hypertriglyceridaemia of the rat was used. In these experiments L-carnitine in the dose of 11 mg per day and 100 g body weight (over the period of 1 week) was able to antagonize the sucrose-induced hypertriglyceridaemia and the increase of serum free fatty acid level in female rats of the Wistar strain. Carnitine administration did not change the activities of lipogenic enzymes and fatty acid synthesis in the liver. However, L-carnitine increases the rate of hepatic fatty acid oxidation. Our results indicate a hypotriglyceridemic and free fatty acid lowering effect of L-carnitine, and suggest the use of this compound in the therapy of hyperlipidaemias.     

Ein Beitrag zum mechanischen Relaxationsverhalten von Polyäthylen,Polypropylen, Gemischen aus diesen und Mischpolymerisaten aus Propylen und äthylen

Zusammenfassung Mit der Torsionsschwingungsmethode nachSchmieder undWolf wurde das Relaxationsverhalten von Polyäthylen, Polypropylen verschiedener Taktizität, Gemischen aus diesen beiden Polymerisaten, sowie Mischpolymerisaten aus Propylen und äthylen in einem Temperaturbereich von –180 C bis 160 C untersucht.Während sich bei Polymerisatgemischen einfache Mischungsregeln für den Gleitmodul und die Dämpfung ergeben, zeigen Mischpolymerisate gleicher chemischer Zusammensetzung ein komplizierteres Verhalten, welches an Hand der gemessenen Kurven diskutiert wird. Außerdem wird das Relaxationsverhalten einer langsam abgekühlten Niederdruckpolyäthylen-Probe mit demjenigen einer abgeschreckten Probe verglichen.
