The SuperNEMO experiment is being designed to search for neutrinoless double beta decay. Its experimental technique of tracking and calorimetry provides the means to discriminate different underlying mechanisms for neutrinoless double beta decay by measuring the angular and energy distributions of electrons. A modified phase contrast method is described for the fabrication of holographic optical elements with in-line diffraction patterns. In this method, a liquid crystal phase modulator is addressed by computer-generated holograms to achieve variable phase gratings. The phase gratings are imaged onto photosensitive material by a phase contrast method without a Fourier filter. This paper addresses scattering effects at arbitrarily shaped defects in waveguides with finite cross-sections. The main subject is to predict scattered wavefields induced by an incident wavefield in order to localize and characterize damages. The numerical approach involves the solution of a boundary value problem in combination with a decomposition method of scattered wavefields. In order to investigate mode conversion phenomena at defects, a boundary element model of the damaged waveguide section is built up. Implementation of the Boundary Element Method based on the elastodynamic boundary integral equation and the Waveguide Finite Element Method allows for a numerically efficient calculation of scattering coefficients. For defect characterization and mode sensitivity analysis, various types of surface opening defects as well as shear fractures are considered. Two efficient approaches to assembling organic semiconducting single crystals are described. The methods rely on solvent wetting and dewetting on substrates with patterned wettability to selectively direct the deposition or removal of organic crystals. Substrates were functionalized with different self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) to achieve the desired wettabilities. The assembly of different organic crystals over centimeter-squared areas on Au, SiO2, and flexible plastic substrates was demonstrated. By designing line features on the substrate, the alignment of crystals, such as CuPc needles, was also achieved. As a demonstration of the potential application of this assembly approach, arrays of single-crystal organic field-effect transistors were fabricated by patterning organic single crystals directly onto and between transistor source and drain electrodes. 相似文献
