The symmetry reduction method based on the Fréchet derivative of differential operators is applied to investigate symmetries of the Einstein-Maxwell field equations for magnetostatic fields, which is a coupled system of nonlinear partial differential equations of the second order. The technique yields invariant transformations that reduce the given system of partial differential equations to a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations. Some of the reduced systems are further studied to obtain the exact solutions.  相似文献

Temperature-dependent (57)Fe M?ssbauer spectroscopy (5-723?K) and neutron diffraction (2-290?K) measurements are carried out on polycrystalline magnetoelectric GaFeO(3). From the neutron diffraction data, evidence for the magnetostriction and increased disorder at Fe sites close to the ferrimagnetic Curie transition temperature (T(C)) is observed. From the M?ssbauer data, it is observed that the Lamb-M?ssbauer factor as a function of temperature f(T), which is related to the integral over the first Brillouin zone of the phonon spectrum, shows a unequivocal variation at the T(C). The observations are discussed in terms of spin-phonon coupling. The observed average hyperfine fields from (57)Fe M?ssbauer spectra match with the bulk magnetization data. A critical exponent (β) of 0.38?±?0.02 and a Debye temperature (θ(D)) of ~350?K is estimated from the (57)Fe M?ssbauer data.  相似文献

2 MeV protons and 1 MeV carbon ions are bombarded on highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) samples and their electronic transport measurements are carried out in the presence of magnetic field. The Magneto-Resistance (MR) measurements show measurable hysteresis in the resistance value after ion beam irradiation for the in-plane magnetic field direction as well as for the out-of-plane field direction. The MR depends on the thickness of the flake and the method of its separation from the bulk HOPG. The results substantiate that the ferromagnetic coupling between the magnetic moments at the vacancy defect sites in HOPG sensitively depends on the average defect separation. The average defect separation range of 1.7–0.5 nm allows only a part of the 40 μm thick proton beam irradiated sample to go for ferromagnetic ordering. Similar conclusions are drawn from carbon ion irradiated HOPG flake. The irradiation increases the resistance of the flake as well.  相似文献

Vapour transport equilibrium (VTE) technique was used to prepare near stoichiometric LiNbO3 (NSLN) crystals. Simultaneous occurrence of reduction has been observed during the Li-enrichment that results in the weak absorption bands centred at 1.7, 2.6 and 3.7 eV in the absorption spectrum. Annealing in oxygen atmosphere resulted in decrease in the intensity of these bands. The indirect and direct band-gap energies for NSLN crystals evaluated from absorption studies are reported. The energy of the phonon involved in the indirect transition is ~85 meV (685 cm?1). Near room temperature ac-conductivity measurements reveal lower conductivity for oxygen annealed NSLN crystal in comparison to as prepared NSLN and CLN specimens. The activation energies for ac-conductivity along the z-direction for NSLN and CLN crystals in the temperature range 500–1100 K are 1.03 eV and 0.96 eV, respectively.  相似文献

Interface of Ag/57Fe/Ag trilayer has been studied with a depth resolution of a fraction of a nanometer using x-ray standing waves generated by a W/Si multilayer mirror used as a substrate. Two interfaces of 38 Å thick Fe layer in Ag/57Fe/Ag trilayer are clearly resolved. It is found that the rms roughness of the two interfaces Fe-on-Ag and Ag-on-Fe are 10 ± 1.0 and 6 ± 1.0 Å, respectively. Conversion electron Mössbauer spectroscopy (CEMS) has been used to get information about the volume fraction of the intermixed region and the estimated roughness from the relative area of the two sextets of CEMS spectra is found to be 7.0 Å which is consistent with the average roughness obtained by X-ray fluorescence measurements. However, the asymmetry of the interfaces can not be inferred from CEMS measurements.  相似文献

Background and purpose

Proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (PMRS) has high sensitivity and specificity for the detection of pyogenic brain abscess and the categorization of bacteria. But the metabolite patterns failed to evaluate the etiology of disease when the culture results are sterile. The aim of the present study is to compare the multimodality techniques viz., conventional culture, MR spectroscopy and 16S rRNA PCR and sequencing for rapid diagnosis of etiology in brain abscess and evaluate the PMRS in culture sterile samples and also demonstrate the sensitivity and specificity of these techniques.

Methods

Thirty five patients underwent MRI on a 3 T MRI and in-vivo PMRS for the diagnosis and evaluation of various resonances of metabolites such as lipid (LIP), lactate (LAC), acetate (AC), amino acid (AC), succinate (SUC). Pus was collected for identification of etiologic agents by culture and molecular method.

Results

In 35 samples, metabolite patterns were as follows: LIP/LAC/AA, n = 17, LIP/LAC/AA/SUC with or without AC, n = 17 and LIP/LAC/AA/AC, n = 1. Culture showed bacterial growth in 22 samples (18 aerobic/facultative anaerobic, 9 anaerobic) whereas molecular method was detected 26 aerobic/facultative anaerobic, 13 anaerobic, 4 microaerophilic bacteria. Among the 13 sterile samples, molecular method detected 16 microorganisms along with 3 mixed infections and PMRS recognized metabolite patterns as LIP/LAC/AA, n = 5 and LIP/LAC/AA/SUC with or without AC, n = 8. The sensitivity of in-vivo PMRS in sterile samples was 100% and 75%, and specificity was 75% and 100% for aerobic and anaerobic organisms respectively.

Conclusion

Based on metabolite resonances, PMRS can detect slow growing and fastidious organisms and classify them into aerobic and anaerobic bacteria which are difficult to culture by conventional method. It can categorize microorganisms even in culture sterile samples with rational sensitivity and specificity which may allow early choice of targeted therapy.  相似文献

A study of ion equilibration in annular regions of ultracold strontium plasmas is reported. Plasmas are formed by photoionizing laser-cooled atoms with a pulsed dye laser. The experimental probe is spatially-resolved absorption spectroscopy using the 2S1/2-2P1/2 transition of the Sr+ ion. The kinetic energy of the ions is calculated from the Doppler broadening of the spectrum, and it displays clear oscillations during the first microsecond after plasma formation. The oscillations, which are a characteristic of strong coulomb coupling, are fit with a simple phenomenological model incorporating damping and density variation in the plasma.  相似文献
