Determination of gun propellants erosivity: Experimental and theoretical studies

Requirements for higher and higher performances of contemporary guns intensify investigations concerning influence of various factors on barrel erosion. The most important parameter for the life of the gun is the type of the gun propellant. The device based on modification of 37 mm M39 gun for investigating influence of gun propellant on barrel erosion is used. The nozzle (main part of device) mass loss during firing was the measure of gun propellant erosivity. The theory of nozzle erosion includes basic thermal, chemical and metallurgical factors. The main thermal and chemical factors are maximum nozzle inside surface temperature and gun propellant composition. The maximum nozzle surface temperature was determined theoretically by developed interior ballistic model with heat transfer, and experimentally by micro thermocouples measurements and solution of inverse heat conduction problem. The coefficients of gun propellants erosivity are determined in experimental and theoretical way.     

Towards a spectral theory of graphs based on the signless Laplacian, II

A spectral graph theory is a theory in which graphs are studied by means of eigenvalues of a matrix M which is in a prescribed way defined for any graph. This theory is called M-theory. We outline a spectral theory of graphs based on the signless Laplacians Q and compare it with other spectral theories, in particular to those based on the adjacency matrix A and the Laplacian L. As demonstrated in the first part, the Q-theory can be constructed in part using various connections to other theories: equivalency with A-theory and L-theory for regular graphs, common features with L-theory for bipartite graphs, general analogies with A-theory and analogies with A-theory via line graphs and subdivision graphs. In this part, we introduce notions of enriched and restricted spectral theories and present results on integral graphs, enumeration of spanning trees, characterizations by eigenvalues, cospectral graphs and graph angles.

Semiquinol and phenol compounds from seven <Emphasis Type="Italic">Senecio</Emphasis> species

In this paper, examination of the aerial parts of seven Senecio species from Serbia and Montenegro is reported. Phytochemical investigation of Senecio erucifolius led to the isolation and characterization of semiquinol butyl 2-(1-hydroxy-4-oxocyclohexa-2,5-dienyl)acetate (I), along with methyl 2-(1-hydroxy-4-oxocyclohexa-2,5-dienyl)acetate (jacaranone, II), and methyl 2-(4-hidroxyphenyl)acetate (III). The structure of I was established based on spectroscopic studies (¹H- and ¹³C-NMR, IR, and CI-MS). Compound II was also isolated from S. carpathicus and S. subalpinus. The presence of jacaranone in the methanol extracts of S. wagneri, S. othonnae, and S. paludosus was confirmed by LC/ESI-TOF MS.     

Graph spectra in Computer Science

In this paper, we shall give a survey of applications of the theory of graph spectra to Computer Science. Eigenvalues and eigenvectors of several graph matrices appear in numerous papers on various subjects relevant to information and communication technologies. In particular, we survey applications in modeling and searching Internet, in computer vision, data mining, multiprocessor systems, statistical databases, and in several other areas. Some related new mathematical results are included together with several comments on perspectives for future research. In particular, we claim that balanced subdivisions of cubic graphs are good models for virus resistent computer networks and point out some advantages in using integral graphs as multiprocessor interconnection networks.     

A one parameter method for the matrix inverse square root

This paper is motivated by the paper [3], where an iterative method for the computation of a matrix inverse square root was considered. We suggest a generalization of the method in [3]. We give some sufficient conditions for the convergence of this method, and its numerical stabillity property is investigated. Numerical examples showing that sometimes our generalization converges faster than the methods in [3] are presented.     

A novel pimara-8(9) ,15-diene from lycopus europaeus

Identification of a novel trioxygenated Δ^8(9),15_ pimaric acid methyl ester from plant species Lycopus europaeus by means of two-dimensional ¹H NMR spectroscopy (COSY and NOESY) is reported.     

Generalized line graphs

Generalized line graphs extend the ideas of both line graphs and cocktail party graphs. They were originally motivated by spectral considerations. in this paper several (nonspectral) classical theorems about line graphs are extended to generalized line graphs, including the derivation and construction of the 31 minimal nongeneralized line graphs, a Krausz-type covering characterization, and Whitney-type theorems on isomorphisms and automorphisms.     

Novel trioxygenated caryophyllenes from Inula Spiraefolia
