In activation analysis, the continuous neutron spectrum produced in a nuclear reactor can be both beneficial and detrimental. A continuous spectrum allows for activation of particular elements by using any number of neutron energies. However, upper threshold energies exist for most elements where reactions other than an (n, ) absorption will occur. In this situation, two different parent nuclides can be activated to the same product, which creates a problem in performing a quantitative analysis of one or the other nuclide. A methodology is presented where a system of equations is used to solve for the quantities of both nuclides by using different irradiation ports, and using specific neutron filters to "customize" the neutron flux.  相似文献

Magnesium hydroxoaluminate hydrates were precipitated from different sodium hydroxoaluminate and hydroxoaluminate-hydroxide solutions at ambient temperature, at CAl = 0.1 M, OH/Al ratios = 4–9 and XS OH/Al ratios = 1–6. The precipitations were monitored by potentiometric (pH) measurements while the final precipitate compositions were examined by chemical analysis, infra-red spectrophotometry and thermal analysis. At solution OH/Al ratio = 4, the main precipitate phase at 20°C was Mg(H2O)n[Al(OH)4]2 admixed with some Al(OH)3; at solution OH/Al ratio = 5, the main phase was Mg2(H2O)4[Al2(OH)10]; at solution OH/Al ratio = 7, the main phase was Mg4(H2O)n(OH)4[Al2(OH)10] while at solution OH/Al ratio = 9, the main phase was Mg6(H2O)n(OH)8[Al2(OH)10] admixed with some Mg(OH)2. These hydrates were dehydrated at 60–100°C probably to the compounds Mg2[Al2O3(OH)4], Mg4(OH)4[Al2O3(OH)4] and Mg6(OH)8[Al2O3(OH)4], respectively.  相似文献

Polyaniline deposited on As(2)O(3) surface resulted in a new material, which was characterized by infrared spectoscopy, thermogravimetry, differential scanning calorimetry, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and cyclic voltammetry. The mass percentage of polymer deposited on oxide surface is approximately 13%. The scanning electron microscopy images as well as the X-ray diffraction patterns provided conclusive evidence that the oxide surface is coated by the polymer. The cyclic voltammograms of the polyaniline adsorbed on As(2)O(3) surface showed that the adsorbate exerts remarkable effects on redox processes on this oxide. The pure oxide exhibited two oxidation/reduction peaks at 0.25/-0.06 and 0.47/-0.25 V attributed tentatively to the processes As(2)O(3)(s)+6H(+)+6e(-)=2As(s)+3H(2)O and As(s)+3H(+)+3e(-)=AsH(3)(g), respectively. The polyaniline-coated sample exhibited a better-defined voltammogram in which the first oxidation peak of the oxide had its intensity increased about four times. A new Chugaev-type palladium carbene complex was prepared via a convenient metal-templated route and fully characterized by X-ray crystallography, NMR, and IR. This complex proved effective as a precatalyst for Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions of a range of aryl bromides, even under aerobic conditions, and its modular synthesis should allow for further catalyst fine-tuning.  相似文献
