A time‐resolved intensified charge coupled device‐based Raman microspectrometer system dedicated to the study of solid samples is described, offering good optical, temporal and spatial resolution. The advantages of this approach are demonstrated on Al2O3:Cr3+, obtaining for the first time the temporal evolution of the excited state transition Ē → 2Ā. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) was used to study the interaction of two different sized proteins, bovine serum albumin (BSA) and fibrinogen, with an aluminosilicate system containing yttrium and iron that is a potential biomaterial. Serum albumin and fibrinogen are two major plasma proteins and the most relevant proteins adsorbed on the surface of biomaterials in blood contact.The aluminosilicate samples were incubated for several exposure times, up to 24 h, in simulated body fluid enriched with BSA, and in buffered fibrinogen solution. Time dependence of proteins adsorption onto surface of the investigated samples is reflected by the evolution of the new N 1s photoelectron peak and by the modification of C 1s core-level spectra recorded from the samples immersed in protein solution. 相似文献

A twin-hole optical fiber with pure synthetic silicate glass between the two electrode holes was thermally poled. The induced second-order nonlinearity (SON) was located at the core-cladding interface sections that were nearly parallel to the poling electric field. The polarization dependence of the induced SON suggests that nonlinearity was due to the presence of a space-charge field, which was probably formed by electron migration among the defects located at the core-cladding interface. Hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS) vapor treatment of plasma-damaged nanoporous organosilicate thin films has been studied as a function of treatment temperature in this work. Although, the HMDS vapor treatment facilitated incorporation of methyl (CH3) groups subsequent to the removal of free hydroxyl (OH) groups in the damaged films at treatment temperature as low as 55 °C, the bonded OH groups were not removed. More significantly, detailed analysis of the results reveals that HMDS vapor modified only the surface of the plasma-damaged samples and not the entire film as expected. This is attributed to the formation of a thin solid layer on the surface, which effectively prevents penetration of HMDS vapors into the bulk. The Fourier transform-infrared (FT-IR) absorption and dielectric constant measurements confirm that the vapor treatment assists only partial curing of the plasma-damaged films. Alternative processes of curing the films with HMDS dissolved in supercritical carbon dioxide (SCCO2) as a medium of reaction in static and pulsed modes were also attempted and the results are presented in this paper. 相似文献

Parity measurements on qubits can generate the entanglement resource necessary for scalable quantum computation. Here we describe a method for fast optical parity measurements on electron spin qubits within coupled quantum dots. The measurement scheme, which can be realized with existing technology, consists of the optical excitation of excitonic states followed by monitored relaxation. Conditional on the observation of a photon, the system is projected into the odd/even-parity subspaces. Our model incorporates all the primary sources of error, including detector inefficiency, effects of spatial separation and nonresonance of the dots, and also unwanted excitations. Through an analytical treatment we establish that the scheme is robust to such effects. Two applications are presented: a realization of a controlled-NOT gate, and a technique for growing large scale graph states. 相似文献

Electronic spin precession and interferometry from spin-orbital entanglement in a double quantum dot
A double quantum dot inserted in parallel between two metallic leads can entangle the electron spin with the orbital (dot index) degree of freedom. An Aharonov-Bohm orbital phase can be transferred to the spinor wave function, providing a geometrical control of the spin precession around a fixed magnetic field. A fully coherent behavior occurs in a mixed orbital-spin Kondo regime. Evidence for the spin precession can be obtained, either using spin-polarized metallic leads or by placing the double dot in one branch of a metallic loop. 相似文献

Some desert sand dunes have the peculiar ability to emit a loud sound up to 110 dB, with a well-defined frequency: this phenomenon, known since early travelers (Darwin, Marco Polo, etc.), has been called the song of dunes. But only in late 19th century scientific observations were made, showing three important characteristics of singing dunes: first, not all dunes sing, but all the singing dunes are composed of dry and well-sorted sand; second, this sound occurs spontaneously during avalanches on a slip face; third this is not the only way to produce sound with this sand.More recent field observations have shown that during avalanches, the sound frequency does not depend on the dune size or shape, but on the grain diameter only, and scales as the square root of g/d - with g the gravity and d the diameter of the grains - explaining why all the singing dunes in the same vicinity sing at the same frequency.We have been able to reproduce these singing avalanches in laboratory on a hard plate, which made possible to study them more accurately than on the field. Signals of accelerometers at the flowing surface of the avalanche are compared to signals of microphones placed above, and it evidences a very strong vibration of the flowing layer at the same frequency as on the field, responsible for the emission of sound.Moreover, other characteristics of the booming dunes are reproduced and analyzed, such as a threshold under which no sound is produced, or beats in the sound that appears when the flow is too large.
