By combining experimental and theoretical approaches, we study the adsorption of pentacene on copper as a model for the coupling between aromatic molecules and metal surfaces. Iron-Phthalocyanine molecules deposited on the Cu(119) vicinal surface form molecular chains along the vicinal surface steps,
as deduced by the low-energy electron diffraction (LEED) reconstruction pattern. The work-function lowers at the FePc single-layer
completion, due to the formation of an interface dipole. Further FePc deposition induces a different growth morphology, as

This article proposes a novel coherent multilevel modulation model that exploits polarization and phase of the field. This model is based on the possibility of coherent systems to use all the four degrees of freedom of the electromagnetic field. The proposed scheme is able, by applying a suitable twisting process to the optical fiber, to physically confine the polarization and the phase of the transmitted field within the phase sphere. The stability analysis of the n=1 resistive wall mode is carried out for a simplified model of collisionless tokamak plasma. It is found that the trapped particle compressibility and the resonance between the mode and the precession drift frequency lead to a significant improvement of the beta stability limits. It is shown that, within the frame of the simplified model, the resistive wall mode can be fully suppressed and the plasma can be stable up to the wall beta limits for a slow plasma rotation. 相似文献

The growth rates of the deceleration-phase Rayleigh-Taylor instability for imploding inertial confinement fusion capsules are calculated and compared with the results of numerical simulations. It is found that the unstable spectrum and the growth rates are significantly reduced by the finite ablation flow at the shell's inner surface. Direct-drive inertial confinement fusion (ICF) is
expected to demonstrate high gain on the National Ignition Facility (NIF) in
the next decade and is a leading candidate for inertial fusion energy
production. The demonstration of high areal densities in hydrodynamically
scaled cryogenic DT or D2 implosions with neutron yields that are a
significant fraction of the “clean” 1-D predictions will validate the
ignition-equivalent direct-drive target performance on the OMEGA laser at
the Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE). This paper highlights the
recent experimental and theoretical progress leading toward achieving this
validation in the next few years.
The NIF will initially be configured for X-ray drive and with no beams
placed at the target equator to provide a symmetric irradiation of a
direct-drive capsule. LLE is developing the “polar-direct-drive” (PDD)
approach that repoints beams toward the target equator. Initial 2-D
simulations have shown ignition. A unique “Saturn-like” plastic ring
around the equator refracts the laser light incident near the equator toward
the target, improving the drive uniformity.
LLE is currently constructing the multibeam, 2.6-kJ/beam, petawatt laser
system OMEGA EP. Integrated fast-ignition experiments, combining the OMEGA
EP and OMEGA Laser Systems, will begin in FY08. 相似文献

Sulphur-headgroup organic molecules have been chemisorbed on Cu(1 0 0) as self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) in highly-ordered two-fold symmetry structures, and the electronic states induced at the interface have been measured by photoemission: a close similarity of the main interface states for methane-thiolate and mercaptobenzoxazole on Cu(1 0 0) in the same p(2 × 2)-phase is observed. The bonding states for methane-thiolate/Cu(1 0 0) in the p(2 × 2) and c(2 × 2) structures have been compared to ab-initio calculation of the total density of states (DOS) for the S/Cu(1 0 0) system in the same phases. The major role of the S-Cu bonding to determine the density of state evolution at the interface is brought to light. The observed differences in the two phases depend mainly on the charge distribution associated to the different molecular packing, with a minor role of the radical group. 相似文献

XANES has been recently used for the determination of oxidation states of actinides in environmental samples. To obtain reliable
results, however, a sufficiently long counting time at every probing energy and a large number of experimental points per
XANES spectrum are required, due to the complex mathematical model used to fit the measured spectrum. This makes micro-mapping
difficult, since the time required for data collection becomes unacceptably long. A simplified model for data collection and
evaluation is presented. Its effectiveness has been tested by measuring the distribution of Pu oxidation states in a “hot”
