We analyze the Josephson effect between a conventional and a non-centrosymmetric superconductor to examine characteristic features of such junctions and the symmetry of the superconducting phases. As a concrete example, we consider the non-centrosymmetric superconductor CePt3Si where Rashba spin-orbit coupling plays a crucial role and affects the Josephson pair tunneling. In this case, the Josephson coupling is composed of two parts, spin-singlet-like and spin-triplet-like components. The triplet-like component can lead to a Josephson coupling shifted by π relative to the singlet-like coupling. This has important implications on the interference effects and may explain some recent experimental results for the Al/CePt3Si junction.  相似文献

l ‐4‐Chlorokynurenine (l ‐4‐Cl‐Kyn) is a neuropharmaceutical drug candidate that is in development for the treatment of major depressive disorder. Recently, this amino acid was naturally found as a residue in the lipopeptide antibiotic taromycin. Herein, we report the unprecedented conversion of l ‐tryptophan into l ‐4‐Cl‐Kyn catalyzed by four enzymes in the taromycin biosynthetic pathway from the marine bacterium Saccharomonospora sp. CNQ‐490. We used genetic, biochemical, structural, and analytical techniques to establish l ‐4‐Cl‐Kyn biosynthesis, which is initiated by the flavin‐dependent tryptophan chlorinase Tar14 and its flavin reductase partner Tar15. This work revealed the first tryptophan 2,3‐dioxygenase (Tar13) and kynurenine formamidase (Tar16) enzymes that are selective for chlorinated substrates. The substrate scope of Tar13, Tar14, and Tar16 was examined and revealed intriguing promiscuity, thereby opening doors for the targeted engineering of these enzymes as useful biocatalysts.  相似文献

Two quantum dots with tunable mutual tunnel coupling have been embedded in a two-terminal Aharonov-Bohm geometry. Aharonov-Bohm oscillations investigated in the cotunneling regime demonstrate coherent tunneling through nonresonant states. Visibilities of more than 0.8 are measured indicating that phase-coherent processes are involved in the elastic and inelastic cotunneling. An oscillation-phase change of pi is detected as a function of bias voltage at the inelastic cotunneling onset.  相似文献

Superconductivity in materials without spatial inversion symmetry is studied. We show that in contrast to common belief, spin-triplet pairing is not entirely excluded in such systems. Moreover, paramagnetic limiting is analyzed for both spin-singlet and -triplet pairing. The lack of inversion symmetry reduces the effect of the paramagnetic limiting for spin-singlet pairing. These results are applied to MnSi and CePt3Si.  相似文献

CePt3Si is a novel heavy fermion superconductor, crystallizing in the CePt3B structure as a tetragonally distorted low symmetry variant of the AuCu3 structure type. CePt3Si exhibits antiferromagnetic order at T(N) approximately 2.2 K and enters into a heavy fermion superconducting state at T(c) approximately 0.75 K. Large values of H(')(c2) approximately -8.5 T/K and H(c2)(0) approximately 5 T refer to heavy quasiparticles forming Cooper pairs. Hitherto, CePt3Si is the first heavy fermion superconductor without a center of symmetry.  相似文献

We investigate the Mott transitions in two-band Hubbard models with different bandwidths. Applying dynamical mean field theory, we discuss the stability of itinerant quasiparticle states in each band. We demonstrate that separate Mott transitions occur at different Coulomb interaction strengths in general, which merge to a single transition only under special conditions. This kind of behavior may be relevant for the physics of the single-layer ruthenates, Ca2-xSrxRuO4.  相似文献

We apply the slave-boson approach of Kotliar and Ruckenstein to the two-band Hubbard model with an Ising like Hund's rule coupling and bands of different widths. On the mean-field level of this approach we investigate the Mott transition and observe both separate and joint transitions of the two bands depending on the choice of the inter- and intra-orbital Coulomb interaction parameters. The mean-field calculations allow for a simple physical interpretation and can confirm several aspects of previous work. Beside the case of two individually half-filled bands we also examine what happens if the original metallic bands possess fractional filling either due to finite doping or due to a crystal field which relatively shifts the atomic energy levels of the two orbitals. For appropriate values of the interaction and of the crystal field we can observe a band insulating state and a ferromagnetic metal.  相似文献
