When stimulated by tones, the ear appears to emit tones of its own, stimulus-frequency otoacoustic emissions (SFOAEs). SFOAEs were measured in 17 chinchillas and their group delays were compared with a place map of basilar-membrane vibration group delays measured at the characteristic frequency. The map is based on Wiener-kernel analysis of responses to noise of auditory-nerve fibers corroborated by measurements of vibrations at several basilar-membrane sites. SFOAE group delays were similar to, or shorter than, basilar-membrane group delays for frequencies >4 kHz and <4 kHz, respectively. Such short delays contradict the generally accepted "theory of coherent reflection filtering" [Zweig and Shera, J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 98, 2018-2047 (1995)], which predicts that the group delays of SFOAEs evoked by low-level tones approximately equal twice the basilar-membrane group delays. The results for frequencies higher than 4 kHz are compatible with hypotheses of SFOAE propagation to the stapes via acoustic waves or fluid coupling, or via reverse basilar membrane traveling waves with speeds corresponding to the signal-front delays, rather than the group delays, of the forward waves. The results for frequencies lower than 4 kHz cannot be explained by hypotheses based on waves propagating to and from their characteristic places in the cochlea.  相似文献

We present three-dimensional diffuse optical tomography of the hemodynamic response to somatosensory stimulation in a rat. These images show the feasibility of volumetrically imaging the functional response to brain activity with diffuse light. A combination of positional optode calibration and contrast-to-noise ratio weighting was found to improve imaging performance.  相似文献

The Yonezawa-Watabe (YW) study of the metal-nonmetal transitions in nondegenerate, s-electron disordered binary systems: doped semiconductors, metal-ammonia solutions, liquid metals and mixed crystals (alloys), is generalized to include ten-fold d-electron (hole) degeneracy. Such degeneracy automatically includes Hund's rule d-electron coupling and intra-site enhanced Coulomb and exchange interactions. Such a calculation is specifically relevant only to transition metal alloys, transition metal oxides and mixed transition metal oxides. It is seen that potential fluctuations exist in these systems and the possibility of Anderson localization in these disordered degenerate binary transition metal systems is explored. The YW CPA treatment of the effect of substitutional disorder (alloying) upon the mobility gap and quasiparticle states of the density of states at the extreme band edges and localization due to random spin configuration are generalized to these degenerate d-electron systems and it is shown that the disappearance of the mobility gap, not the density of states gap, causes the metal-nonmetal transition for degenerate d-electrons.  相似文献

In general, quantum corrections to matter-supergravity couplings uniquely determine what are acceptable auxiliary fields for N = 1 supergravity, and partially determine those for N = 2. This is because one-loop corrections produce anomalies in not only the local superscale transformations, but also in the local (Poincaré) supersymmetry transformations themselves, except for special cases: in particular, for N = 1 the n = 13 minimimal set of auxiliary fields is uniquely chosen.  相似文献

Water desorption from NaMgA zeolites was investigated as a function of magnesium ion content with the help of thermal analytical methods such as combined TG-DTG-DTA, TMA and X-ray heating technique. At least five partly overlapping desorption effects of water were observed from DTA and DTG features. The amount of water corresponding to individual desorption peaks was determined by experimental methods of separation. An assignment of the desorption effects to the related adsorbed forms of water is suggested.  相似文献

EPR experiments were performed at Q-band and 300 K on Mn2+ doped (CH3)4NCdCl3. Beside the single ion resonance many weak lines could be observed which can be attributed to nearest neighbour pairs of Mn2+ lying along the crystallographic c-axis. The spectra can be described using a Hamiltonian for strongly exchange coupled pairs. The obtained data show that the ionic separation varies in the different spin states. So an additional interaction occurs on the Mn2+ dimer, which can be interpreted as an exchange striction effect.  相似文献
