Oil palm biomass, namely empty fruit bunch and frond fiber, were pretreated using a planetary ball mill. Particle sizes and crystallinity index values of the oil palm biomass were significantly reduced with extended ball mill processing time. The treatment efficiency was evaluated by the generation of glucose, xylose, and total sugar conversion yields from the pretreatment process compared to the amount of sugars from raw materials. Glucose and xylose contents were determined using high-performance liquid chromatography. An increasing trend in glucose and xylose yield as well as total sugar conversion yield was observed with decreasing particle size and crystallinity index. Oil palm frond fiber exhibited the best material yields using ball milling pretreatment with generated glucose, xylose, and total sugar conversion yields of 87.0, 81.6, and 85.4 %, respectively. In contrast, oil palm empty fruit bunch afforded glucose and xylose of 70.0 and 82.3 %, respectively. The results obtained in this study showed that ball mill-treated oil palm biomass is a suitable pretreatment method for high conversion of glucose and xylose. 相似文献

A convenient silica gel-promoted synthesis of 2-bromo-3-hydroxybenzoate derivatives has been developed via the Diels–Alder reaction of furans with methyl 3-bromopropiolate, followed by a ring-opening aromatization. In addition, 2-bromo-3-methoxybenzoate, derived from 2-bromo-3-hydroxybenzoate with iodomethane, was found to be a good substrate for Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions, despite its sterically hindered structure. 相似文献

Two new sesquiterpenes, oculiferane (1) and epi-obtusane (2) have been isolated and identified from an acetone extract of the digestive gland of the sea hare, Aplysia oculifera. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis including HREIMS, 1H, 13C, DEPT, 1H–1H COSY, HMQC, and HMBC NMR; the relative configuration was confirmed by X-ray analysis. Applications of metal‐free living cationic polymerization of vinyl ethers using HCl · Et2O are reported. Product of poly(vinyl ether)s possessing functional end groups such as hydroxyethyl groups with predicted molecular weights was used as a macroinitiator in activated monomer cationic polymerization of ε‐caprolactone (CL) with HCl · Et2O as a ring‐opening polymerization. This combination method is a metal‐free polymerization using HCl · Et2O. The formation of poly(isobutyl vinyl ether)‐b‐poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PIBVE‐b‐PCL) and poly(tert‐butyl vinyl ether)‐b‐poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PTBVE‐b‐PCL) from two vinyl ethers and CL was successful. Therefore, we synthesized novel amphiphilic, biocompatible, and biodegradable block copolymers comprised polyvinyl alcohol and PCL, namely PVA‐b‐PCL by transformation of acid hydrolysis of tert‐butoxy moiety of PTBVE in PTBVE‐b‐PCL. The synthesized copolymers showed well‐defined structure and narrow molecular weight distribution. The structure of resulting block copolymers was confirmed by 1H NMR, size exclusion chromatography, and differential scanning calorimetry. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of aromatic polyimides (PIs) containing pyridazine or pyrimidine in their main chains has been developed. All of the PIs were prepared from newly synthesized diamines, 3,6‐bis(4‐aminophenylenesulfanyl)pyridazine (APP), 4,6‐bis(4‐aminophenylenesulfanyl)pyrimidine (APPM) and aromatic dianhydrides, 4,4′‐[p‐thiobis(phenylenesulfanyl)]diphthalic anhydride (3SDEA) and 4,4′‐oxydiphthalic anhydride (ODPA) via the conventional two‐step polycondensation. The PIs showed good thermal stability with 10% weight loss at temperatures above 450 °C and glass transition temperatures above 190 °C. Films with a 10‐μm thickness exhibited good optical transparency above 80% at 500 nm, high refractive indices ranging from 1.7218 to 1.7499, and low birefringence between 0.0066 and 0.0102. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We extend a notion of effective continuity due to Mori, Tsujii and Yasugi to real-valued functions on effective topological spaces. Under reasonable assumptions, Type-2 computability of these functions is characterized as sequential computability and the effective continuity. We investigate effective uniform topological spaces with a separating set, and adapt the above result under some assumptions. It is also proved that effective local uniform continuity implies effective continuity under the same assumptions. 相似文献
