According to recent photoconductivity measurements in 2D electron semiconductor systems in magnetic fields normal to the 2D plane, the photoconductivity as a function of magnetic field exhibits oscillations in the region of fields much weaker than those necessary for the observation of the Shubnikov-de Haas effect. In this paper, the aforementioned oscillations are interpreted as a two-dimensional analogue of magnetophoton (phonon) oscillations studied in detail by different authors on 3D samples.  相似文献

By angle-resolved photoemission the electronic structure of quantum films of Mg, Ag, and Au has been compared on W(110) and Mo(110) substrates which are structurally and electronically very similar but differ in atomic number. In all cases, substrate-induced states with characteristic dispersions are observed in the region of a bulk band gap of the substrate. Based on the comparison between Mo and W, we can exclude that previously observed Mg states are spin-orbit split but observe a spin-orbit splitting in Ag and Au monolayers. This splitting is mainly caused by the substrate because it does not differ much between Ag and Au overlayers despite the large difference in atomic number.  相似文献

A new method for generating spin-polarized currents in topological insulators has been proposed and investigated. The method is associated with the spin-dependent asymmetry of the generation of holes at the Fermi level for branches of topological surface states with the opposite spin orientation under the circularly polarized synchrotron radiation. The result of the generation of holes is the formation of compensating spin-polarized currents, the value of which is determined by the concentration of the generated holes and depends on the specific features of the electronic and spin structures of the system. The indicator of the formed spin-polarized current can be a shift of the Fermi edge in the photoelectron spectra upon photoexcitation by synchrotron radiation with the opposite circular polarization. The topological insulators with different stoichiometric compositions (Bi1.5Sb0.5Te1.8Se1.2 and PbBi2Se2Te2) have been investigated. It has been found that there is a correlation in the shifts and generated spin-polarized currents with the specific features of the electronic spin structure. Investigations of the graphene/Pt(111) system have demonstrated the possibility of using this method for other systems with a spin-polarized electronic structure.  相似文献

Specific features of the induction excitation of 2D electron systems at the Hall plateaus are discussed. The corresponding kinetics is shown to have several frequency regimes. In the region ω ? ωD, where ωD is the frequency characteristic of the kinetics at the Hall plateaus, an induction-caused variation of electron density follows the magnetic-field variation with time. For the frequencies ω ≤ ωD, a noticeable relaxation of the electron disturbance appears, and the induction polarization of 2D samples at the Hall plateaus noticeably decreases as compared to the maximum possible polarization. Finally, in the limit ω ≤ ωslow, where ωslow corresponds to another characteristic time of the quantum Hall effect, the so-called adiabatic approximation takes place with the 2D system responding to the derivative of magnetic field dH/dt rather than to the magnetic field itself H(t). The results of calculations are compared with the experimental data reported in the literature.  相似文献

The structural details of an edge electronic state in external-field-bounded 2D charged (electron or hole) systems at the zero boundary density of the mobile charge carriers are discussed. It is shown that the so-called “soft” edge electronic states (SESs) appear along these boundaries. The details of their structure and spectrum are analyzed, and the possible effects with the SESs are outlined.  相似文献

The conditions of the formation of different carbon surface phases on nickel substrates by the example of a planar Ni( 110) surface and a stepped Ni(771 ) surface similar in structure were determined. The structure of the phases was investigated by means of scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), and the influence of carbon on the structure of the nickel surface was demonstrated. The process of graphene synthesis by propylene cracking is described. A method for forming graphene islands on nickel is proposed. A variety of phase transitions between the carbon surface phases (e.g., surface carbide, graphene, and graphene islands) and the reasons for their irreversibility are discussed. The relation between the structures of the surface carbide phases and the crystal structures of the initial surfaces for two different substrates is shown.  相似文献

Conducting Langmuir-Blodgett films of hexadecyl-TCNQ and heptadecyl dimethyl-TTF mixture in the ratios from 1:1 to 1:2.5 are studied. Temperature dependence of film conductivity possesses some specific features. Strong increase of conductivity and decrease of activation energy take place after annealing at 307–315 K. On the other hand, the film loses conductance after heating above 315 K. To explain this behaviour the investigations of conducting multilayers by means of electron diffraction, electron microscopy, and X-ray small-angle scattering were carried out. Some relations between changes of electrical properties and structural transformations are ascertained.  相似文献
